《My Beloved Mate》Chapter 11: I Need Time

^Lionel's house^
My mind wasn't thinking straight. I was pretty sure I was high too. If I wasn't I would see a man turning into a wolf. The same man, who came to 'pursue" me in a romantic way. The same man, who might have feelings for because he seemed like a good guy, then I thought he was cheating, which led him to show me his true self, or whatever it was. And then we were sitting in the woods, without saying a word.
He shifted and got dressed as I looked away. I peach at him to make sure he was done but I saw him buttoning up his shirt and caught sight of those sexy abs. I suddenly had an urge to lick them but I quickly looked away when I saw him turn. "It's okay to stare, this is all yours." Zechariah joked. I didn't know how to respond because I coaxing form sentences at that moment due to embarrassment.
I looked down and hid my face from him. I shouldn't be thinking about such thoughts at the moment. "You have an explanation?" I asked after a while.
"Of course," Zech sighed. "I can't hide anything from you."
"And why is that?" I looked at him curiously.
"Because you're my soulmate." He chuckled but his words still hung in the air. I didn't completely understand what he was trying to say but I sort of did, if it makes any sense. "I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I ever lied to you."
"Is that so?" I wondered. "You want to explain more about you and your "kind"?"
"Sure," Zeck scooted closer to me, which didn't scare me for some reason. "I'll just give you a brief summary, I guess." He seemed nervous but I looked at him, encouraging him to go on. "So like centuries ago, there were these groups of evolved wolves that wanted to go out in the world and live the humans because back then it was forbidden to interact with a human even if they were your mate. So, this small group went to a village nearby and pretended to be lost or castaways, I don't really remember. Anyway, they lived among them and mated with humans and had hybrids, which were hidden until the children turn like sixteen. So two or so decades later the villagers found out and hunted them."

"Wow," I whispered. "That's horrible."
"Yeah," Zeck laughed a little. "When the pack of the dead wolves found out, they went to the village and took the hybrids and killed the men. After that, wolves from all generations weren't allowed to associate with humans. We live hidden among them and take precautions not to expose ourselves."
"Then why tell me all these?" I turned to face him.
"Because you're my soul mate and don't want to hide it form you. I trust you." Zeck leaned in a bit and his face was close to mine. I could feel his breath on my lips and face started burning.
Then I remember that this was no time to kiss and makeup. I had to seriously think about this and what to do next. I turned my head away and looked at the ground. "Umm, thank you for trusting me with your secret." Zeck leaned back and put on a smile that didn't reach his eyes.
"Where's the but?" He asked as if he knew I wouldn't accept him as he was.
"But, I need sometimes to think about this." I sighed. "I want to make a decision without you influencing me, you don't do it intentionally, of course. So I hope you can understand."
Zechariah nodded as he stood up and bushes his pants to get the grass and first off. "Sure," he said and reach out his hand. "Let's get out this woods."
I smiled as I took his hand and stood up. We walked back to my house and Zechariah left without saying much. I guess I could understand, he was sad that I didn't accept him right away but I didn't reject him either. I just hope I can make the right decision.
~••••~
It had been about a week since I found out about Zechariah and his kind. I hadn't thought much about it because I couldn't decide if I wanted to risk what's my norm and go for a man that's my soulmate or live a normal life. I didn't want to lose him because he was everything that I want and more but I don't know what to do. "What's wrong with you?" Parker asked.
"Nothing, just thinking," I answered as I took a sip of the coffee and put it back down.
"What the hell are you thinking so hard about? Don't tell me it's a man." Parker joked and I looked at her with a raised brow.

"Oh my god!" She came over to me and hugged me. "Tell mama all about it."
I pushed her away and stood up. It wasn't like I could tell him that a wolf told me I was his soul mate and that I had to choose to either be with him or live a normal life in pain. "It's hard to tell," I answered as I walked back and forth in their living room.
"Fine, then tell me what's not hard to tell." She laughed at her own joke.
I shook my head. "So, Zechariah said that he likes me a lot and that I told him that I would think about it," I answered. "I trust him as a friend but I don't know about being his lover, remember what happened last time." I wanted to tell her about everything and ask her what to do but I didn't want to expose him or his family. He trusted me with this secret and I wasn't going to be a horrible person.
"What?!" She screamed. "You haven't given him an answer? Something is clearly wrong with your brain."
I looked at her confused, but she continued, "That man waited for you get over Flynn and then took you out on dates to try to win your heart. That man is a god sent." She shook her head as if she was disappointed in her child, I was the child. "You'd be a goddamn fool to let him go. At least not without giving him a chance."
"Thanks for the advice." I nodded as I ran my hands through my hair.
"Yeah," she smiled. "Think about it more and make sure you're choosing the right choice for you."
"I will." I went up and hugged her. "I love you."
"I love you too." She hugged me back.
"Are you cheating on me?" Nichole came in with a pout on her face. Just then Parker pushed me away and ran over to her fiancée.
"I would never cheat on you, especially not with Lion." She kissed her cheeks and I pouted, playing along.
"That's good to know. Anyway, I got what you're all wanted, so let eat. I'm hungry." She put the plastic bags on the table.
"Thank you, babe." Parker blew her a kiss.
"Hmm." Nichole nodded. I thanked her and we sat down to eat.
As we're talking, all I could think about was Zechariah. I knew I wanted him but I wasn't sure if I wanted the supernatural life. I need the other guys to help me out with this one. Especially, Jay, he would know what to do.
~••••~
When I got home that day, I called Jay and told him that needed to talk. "So you're telling me that you like this guy but don't know if you want to date him?" Jay asked as I heard him shuffling around.
"Yes, what should I do?" I asked desperately.
"I don't know what to tell you, man. I've never been in that situation but I feel like I should do the pros and cons of dating him and then decide." He answered. "Choose what you think is right. Or what you really really want."
"Thanks, I guess," I mumbled.
"I just need to tell you," Jay spoke again. "Henry asked me out."
"Oh my god! What did you say?" I asked excited for them. Jay has liked Henry since they met but he never had the courage to ask. He always thought that Haney thought of him as a friend only. "Tell me!"
"Let's just say I have a date next Wednesday." He laughed and I squealed a bit.
"I am so happy for you!" I yelled. "You finally got him."
"Yeah, and I don't even know how I did it. I never thought he would like me but turned out he has a crush on me for months and didn't come up to me because he saw me flirting with other guys. What the hell?" Jay kept ranting. I could hear how happy he was.
"But it finally happened and I wish you the best of luck with your man." I emphasized 'your'.
"Thanks, and I wish you luck with yours." I could hear him winking. "Okay, goodnight."
"Night!" I laughed and hung up.
Now it was time to make a decision because I didn't want to keep Zechariah waiting.

War of Seasons
Dorothea Atlin is the young, apathetic leader of the neutral territory of Sirpo, a chilly land hovering above the continuously warring factions of Sacer and Ghuria, whose devastating magics have ravaged their people and lands time and time again. Following a shocking attack and a cruel deception, Dorothea grows her conscience and takes up arms, using her self-destructive ability to manipulate the flow of time to ensure Sacer’s victory. Her growing understanding of war and the two factions is guided by Iree Nobelis, the determined and enthralling commander of Sacer’s forces, Ariana Kingfisher, a steely swordswoman of mixed Ghurian and Sacerian descent, and Rhys Tamlin, a kind but haunted soldier who goes to challenge Dorothea’s self-imposed celibacy and join her on a mutual journey of healing from the tragic legacies of the Atlin family and wars between the nations. Meanwhile, Dorothea’s only friend and deserter from the Sacerian military, Shark Olyen, returns to their homeland to face the family that disowned them and finds more than they bargained for in meeting Cerid Creed, a noble whose duty to his people clashes with his desires in romance and in life, much like Shark’s did long before. As their developing or preexisting loves and differing convictions on how to achieve peace create rifts between these major players, Dorothea experiences a personal revolution that leads her to fight for what she believes is right, no matter the cost.
