《My Beloved Mate》Chapter 13: Alone, But With You

🙂
It's been a day since I accepted Zechariah. He was still in the infirmary because the doctor wanted to make sure he was all right. I stayed with him most of the day until I had work, which this guy named Luke drove me too and from. Other than the doctor, Gina, Luke and Zechariah, I haven't met anyone else because I would probably freak out as would they because I was a human.
Zeck told me that there weren't many humans that interacted with the pack, outside of their work and some of their mates no one really lived with humans. Since Zeck was the leader, and I was a human, some will be disappointed but I didn't care much because I was already used to the hate.
I sighed as stared at the spreadsheet. I had overtime today but I just wanted to go home or to where Zechariah was and rest. I had three more hours, which meant I would leave at eleven PM (11 PM). "Urgh!" I groaned as I watched people come and go from the loft of the hotel.
"What's got you mood so twisted?" Vanessa, a part-timer, asked.
"Nothing," I mumbled as I tapped on the counter.
"Something is definitely up because you usually like to stay here longer and was the last to leave. So tell me!" She scooted over time me. "You got a girlfriend? Huh? Huh?"
I shook my head. I didn't get a girlfriend, I have a boyfriend. Fuck! That's embarrassing. I blushed and I looked away. "I don't have a girlfriend. I just want to go home because I'm tired." I lied smoothly but the look on her face said she didn't believe me.
"Sure, boss. I totally believe you." She patted my shoulder. "Hey look, you have two hours and twenty minutes to go."
I glared at her. Damn, this is going to be boring as hell. I thought as another couple came up to get a room.
Two hours and thirty minutes passed and the staff was cleaning up so the people on the night shift had an easy and didn't have to clean up a whole day's mess. I was mopping the tiles as the others were cleaning the counters and such. When I was done, I put the mop away and changed. It was about ten fourth five. I cleaned up as much as I could and went to the front lobby to see a few of the girls who had extra hours laughing loudly.

I was just about to walk away because I wanted to see Zechariah when I heard that voice. "Lionel," he called out and my heart jumped to my throat.
Slowly turning around I saw him. "Zechariah," I whispered, almost. He looked handsome in his casual clothes. He had his jacket one, with a white shirt and sweats. He looked really handsome. "Wha-what are you doing here?" I asked when I came to my senses.
"I came to pick you up, of course." He smiled and I swore I saw lights coming from his head, blinding me.
"Oh," I nodded. "You could've texted."
I maybe didn't want to face him even though I wanted to see him. After what happened that day, I was embarrassed to show him my face. I was crying like a baby while confessing. I blushed thinking about it. "You have ten more minutes but I'm sure no one would mind, right?" He turned back to the ladies and gave them his blinding smile.
"Yeah, yeah. Sure." One of them said.
"He can leave early. We'll take care of the rest." Another one added.
"Goodnight." They all said at the same time.
"Goodnight, ladies." Zechariah waved to them as we walked to his car. "Luke told me he dropped you off. And since you didn't bring your car, I shall give you a ride." He bowed like a gentleman as opened the door for me.
"Thank you," I laughed as I got in.
"Where to?" He asked as he got in the driver's seat.
I put my bag near my leg and pulled the seatbelt. "I don't know," I answered as I looked at his handsome face.
"Your place it is then." He answered.
"No!" I yelled. Zechariah stopped and looked at me. I blushed and looked away. "I-I mean. My friends are there."
"You want to be alone?" He asked and I nodded. Which was half true. I wanted to be alone with him because it still hasn't sunk in that I was his mate and we're dating. "Okay, we'll go to mine, if you don't mind."
I nodded and looked out the window. I didn't pay much attention to anything but the outside because I was lost in my own thoughts.
~••••~
When the car finally stopped I looked at the house before me and gasped. Then I looked at Zechariah with awe. Was this man filthy rich or what? "You live here?" I asked as I slowly got out of the car. The house was a modern style house, with clear glass doors and windows. The grass was green, and the driveway had lights. It looked beautiful.

Zechariah laughed as he came over to me and hugged my shoulder. "Yes, I live here." He answered as he walked up to the door. "It's one of the houses I inherited." I looked at him more shocked. My mate/boyfriend was rich as rich can get.
"Well, it's a beautiful house." I smiled as entered the house and looked around.
"Well, you're welcome in it anytime." He smiled as he led me to the living room and told me to freshen up. "You can use the bathroom on the second floor, two doors down, on the left. I'll bring you some clothes."
"Okay," I got up blushing as I hurried down up the glass stairs and towards the bathroom.
What the hell am I flustered? He didn't even do anything. I thought as I slowly sunk in hot water. It was almost March, but still cold. I heard a knock on the door and Zechariah came in. "There's a fresh towel and pajamas. Take your time." He smiled at me as I blushed and hid.
I quickly finished my bath and dried myself. Look at the clothes, I noticed there was no underwear. Of course, he wouldn't give me his, that's a bit weird unless we were married. I quickly put on the pants and shirt before exiting the bathroom. I made my way down the stairs and towards the kitchen where I smelled delicious food. Zechariah's hair was wet, which meant he already took a shower and cooked. "It smells delicious." I stared at the dishes laid on the table.
"Thank you," Zechariah smiled as he handed me a plate. "You're welcome to dig in."
"Thanks," I smiled and quickly put what I liked the plate before sitting down. I took a bite of the juicy meat and melted. "Damn, this is actually really good."
Zechariah smiled as he ate his meal.
When we were done, I helped him clean up and put away the leftovers. "If you cook like that, I could really marry you." I laughed expecting him to laugh along as well but when he didn't, I turned to him and looking at me with a smile.
"Then I wouldn't mind cooking as much." He replied as I blushed and looked away. Why is he a flirt?! He's going to make my face melt someday.
"O-okay, where should I sleep?" I asked.
"You want to sleep?" He asked as he dried his hands with a towel. "I thought we could watch a movie or something and then sleep."
"I guess since I don't have work until four pm tomorrow," I mumbled.
We made out way to the theater room, which I have to say was a surprise but I really shouldn't be at this point. I wouldn't be surprised if he had an indoor pool or something. I snicker a little.
Zechariah grabber the remote and popcorn. "What do you want to watch?" He asked as he skimmed through the genres.
"Hmm, how about...Zombieland 2: Double–Tap?" I asked.
"Oh, I didn't have the chance to watch it yet." Zechariah clicked on the movie and sat next to me. Then he put the blanket over us. The light was off and it looked like we've done this many times before.
"It's really good or so I heard." I scooted a bit closer to him and leaned back on the couch. "The first one was amazing."
"Hmm," he hummed as his eyes were focused on the screen. I smiled a little and looked at the TV. Throughout the movie, I got closer to him without noticing because when I did notice, my head was on his shoulder and I was half asleep. I was too tired to care, so I stayed like that until o felt my eyes close. It was warm and it felt really safe.
Being close to him felt like home.
