You looked at them with tears already streaming down your face. Just yesterday he pushed her away and told her that you were the only person he wanted and now not even a day later he’s kissing her when you two were supposed to be going to Hogsmead together.

“What?” Severus asked as if it was nothing.

“W-What are you doing?” You cried.

“Um, what does it look like?” He rolled his eyes. You just stood there with your mouth hung open. You had no idea what to do or say. People started to gather around, that’s when you saw Narcissa and Lucius looking just as confused as you when they saw their friend in Evans arms. Next to them was your brother and Sirius who also looked confused.

You were embarrassed and heart broken so before anyone could say anything else you ran past everyone back into the castle and bolted for your common room. You didn’t hear Remus shouting your name and running after you. When you go to your common room Remus grabbed your arm and pulled you against his chest before you could run into your dorm. You hit his chest, tears streaming down your face as you tried to push him away.

“Sh, it’s okay, it’s okay. Let it out.” He pet the back of your head and rested his cheek against your head.

“Remus he, he.” You sobbed.

“I know. I’m so sorry.” He glanced up when he saw James and Sirius standing there like they were getting ready to say something.

“I love him Remus.” You broke down crying so hard your head was starting to hurt. Remus just held you tighter not knowing what he could say or do to take your pain away. He saw James and Sirius’ mouth drop.

“I know, and I wish I could make an excuse for him to take the pain away but I can’t.”

“I can’t do this anymore Remus, I did all of this for him. I took the stupid potions, I’m eating 3 meals a day, I’m being more sociable. I did it all for him and it meant nothing. I helped him through everything, the bullying, the trust issues, all of it! Just so she could reap the rewards of all my hard work. I stood by him through all the insults and all the accusations, she wasn’t there for any of it! She had her feelings hurt once and she left, I had my feelings hurt time and time again and I stayed because I love him…. W-Why is this happening to me?”

“I don’t know sweetheart, I really don’t.” He grabbed you under your thighs and sat you down in his lap on the couch when he felt your legs starting to give way.

“Y/N, we saw what happened. We’re sorry.” James spoke.

“Don’t pretend you care. You hated him. You’ve been trying to get me away from him since the first day.” You sniffled into Remus’ neck.

“We’re sorry he hurt you. We never want to see you like this. We still care about you, but things will get better we promise. You just need to take some time and eventually you will get your mind off of it.” Sirius added.

“Listen, how about we sneak some snacks from the kitchen and we’ll all sit here and cry, or tell stories, bad mouth him whatever you want.” James offered.

“I think you could do with a pint of your favorite ice cream right about now.” Remus added. You let out a sad chuckle and nodded. Remus then nodded to the boys and they left to get things they knew you’d like. Ice cream, cookies, soda, some blankets. While Remus stayed with you as you huddled up against him sitting on his lap.

The door to the common room burst open and Narcissa and Lucius came running in. They saw you there still crying, your body convulsing every few seconds. Remus was doing his best to sooth you but it wasn’t working as well as he hoped.

“Guys I don’t think she’s in the mood.” Remus tried to reason.

“Y/N we swear we have no idea what’s going on. He was fine at breakfast when you saw him. He had no interest in Lily. This just doesn’t make any sense.” Narcissa tried to explain.

“It doesn’t make any sense to me either. But I guess he never really got over her. Does anyone ever really get over their first love? I know I won’t.” You started to cry more.

“Please Y/N give us a chance to figure this out.” Lucius begged. “I know Severus better than anyone that is not him. Regulus is dragging him to the dorm right now to try and figure out what’s going on with him. Please just keep an open mind.”

“If there is nothing wrong with him then we promise to tell you the truth, just give us a chance to figure it out.” Narcissa added.

“Fine, but I don’t want to see him until I have my answers.” You told them and they both agreed that was a fair deal. They left there with Remus and when they got to the dorms Regulus was full blown shouting at Severus.

“What were you thinking!? Do you have any idea what you just did? If you give up everything you have built with Y/N for a girl who walked out on you the first chance she got then you are an imbecile!” Regulus screamed.

“You all knew I was in love with Lily. I’ve been in love with Lily since first year. Why is this so hard for everyone to understand? It’s not like Y/N and I were together, she wanted to continue this little break we were on. It’s not my fault I got tired of waiting and decided to move on.” Severus explained. Narcissa and Lucius listened from the other side of the room.

“Do you hear yourself? This is Y/N you care for her more than you have cared for anyone. What has gotten into you? This isn’t you!” Regulus criticized.

“Severus, this isn’t like you, tell us what’s going on.” Narcissa begged.

“I love Lily, she’s the woman I have loved my whole life. She’s just perfect. She smells like Lilies ironically, lilies, vanilla and Lavender.” He explained.

“Oh you have to be fucking kidding me!” Lucius yelled and stormed out of the common room. Narcissa followed behind, confused as to what he was doing.

“Where are you going?” She called after him.

“To see Slughorn.” He growled.

“Okay, we got ice cream, chocolate, blankets and cookies.” Sirius said as he walked in with all the snacks and James followed behind with the blankets. You were now sitting next to Remus but still cuddled against his side. Sirius sat on the other side of you and James sat on the floor in front of you. You all dug into the ice cream and James told you stories about pranks he hasn’t been able to tell you about. You found yourself laughing and enjoying their company.

“Thank you guys for being here.” You said. You appreciate them being with you to make you feel better. You knew they were relieved that you were finally away from Severus but it was still nice that they were going out of their way for you.

“Of course Munchkin.” Sirius patted your shoulder and pulled you against his chest.

“That’s what family does.” James replied.

“Now, let’s tell her about the prank we pulled on McGonagall.” Sirius chuckled.

“You did not.” You gasped.

“She loves us. She secretly likes our pranks; she just can’t admit it.” James smirked.

“Lucius slow down and tell me what’s going on.” Narcissa insisted as they walked down the hallway to Slughorn's classroom.

“Severus hasn’t cared about Lily Evans since Y/N came into his life. Now all of a sudden he’s in love with her again after she tried to get with him. And I suppose it’s even more of a coincidence that they brewed Amortentia in class two days ago.” Lucius explained.

“You think Evans slipped Severus a love potion?”

“Yes, she slipped it into Severus’ pumpkin juice this morning. That's why he wasn’t feeling well. I think James and Sirius put her up to it. So now we need to find Slughorn and get an antidote to give to Severus so he can go fix things with Y/N and pray she forgives him.”

“If you’re right I don’t think Y/N will hold it against him. Even if we could convince Y/N that it was James, Lily and Sirius, Dumbledore and McGonagall won’t believe us without proof and we have none.” Narcissa told him.

“I don’t care about getting them in trouble, I care that our best friend doesn’t lose the girl he loves.” Lucius continued his walk to Slughorns as Narcissa followed close behind him.

“Ah Mr Malfoy, Miss Black what can I help you with.” The cheery Professor asked.

“We need an antidote for Amortentia.” Lucius skipped straight to the point.

“For Amortentia, whatever do you need that for?” Slughorn muttered.

“I suspect it’s been used on a student. I have no proof so no reason to ask for help. It's just a hunch. Please Professor it won’t do any harm to him if I’m wrong but if I am right I need it.” Lucius begged.

“Well… Alright I suppose you are right, it won’t do him any harm if you’re wrong.” He started rummaging through his vials. “Do you have any evidence so you can take this to the headmaster if you’re right?”

“I’m afraid not. I just want to break him from this trance he’s in.” Lucius replied.

“Alright well if you’re right then this should do it. I hope this works.” Slughorn handed Lucius the bottle and he wasted no time running back to the common room with Narcissa not far behind.

“Where did you go?” Regulus asked.

“Take this Severus.” Lucius held out the potion.

“What is it?” Severus asked.

“Something that will help you, now take it.”

“I don’t know what you're trying to pull.”

“For Merlin’s sake Severus take the fucking potion or I’ll shove it down your throat!” Lucius yelled, losing all patience. Severus sighed and drank down the potion. He started to feel funny again and shook then looked around confused.

“What’s going on? How did I get in here?” He glanced at the clock then shot up. “I'm supposed to be at Hogsmeade with Y/N!” He yelled.

“You were right.” Narcissa said to Lucius.

“Evans gave you a love potion, Severus. You came in here after Y/N saw you and Lily kissing.” Lucius explained.

“What, no I would never kiss her.” He insisted.

“You did, but it wasn’t your fault. Y/N will understand we just need to tell her the truth.” Narcissa encouraged.

“Where is she? Why would Lily do that, it’s not like her?”

“We think Potter put her up to it.” Lucius replied.

“Last we saw Y/N she was in her common room with Remus. She’s… She’s not doing well with everything.” Narcissa added.

“I need to see her. Can you help me get in there? Please.” Severus asked.

“Of course, come with us.” Regulus patted his friend's shoulder and they all went down to find you and make things right.
