《○304 Reasons we Love you□ (Squid game guards x reader)》Number 3. Red light, Green light💚❤

We were led out to a field there seemed to be clear sky...
I think it was supposed to look like a childrens recess field but the weird, noticable box-like shape was honestly a bit creepy.
There was a line on the floor and a weird robot was standing by a tree, there were two guards right beside it...
"Welcome to the first game" the same voice ive heard before called out.
"All players, please wait a moment on the field"
I could see and hear seagulls above us... the air smelt like saltwater...
"The first game is Red Light, Green Light"
Something in my mind clicked...
"You can move forward while the tagger shouts, 'Green light'"
"If your movement is detected afterwards, you will be eliminated"
That thing the guard told me about... i think i understood...
"Those who cross the finish line without getting caught in five minutes will pass this round"
"With that let the game begin"
I stood as still as i could as a timer appeared on screen...
"GREEN LIGHT"
A guy started running forward.
I took a few carefull steps forward.
"RED LIGHT"
"Player 324, Eliminated"
I heard a loud gunshot and... the guy felt to the ground...
My body froze up... did he just get...?
"GREEN LIGHT"
i took another few steps forward to the guy that had just fallen to the ground...
"RED LIGHT"
"Hey, you got eliminated dumbass. You can stop it with the act!" His i think... friend said.
Suddendly he coughed up a bunch of blood.
I felt like my hearts skipped a beat...
The guy besides me started running backwards as i stood as still as i could...
With a loud bang... he got shot...
A woman started screeching in horror as the entire field fell into screams and panic

They started running around... since i was upfront, i luckily didnt get run over...
Several people started getting shot...
I sqeezed my eyes shut and remembered what the guard had told me...
'Dont panic, dont move...'
'I cant move... ill die...'
People started piling up at the doors, trying to get back in as they got shot one by one...
"GREEN LIGHT"
I moved a few steps forward, away from the horror.
The situation seemed to start calming down... i didnt want to turn around... it was a massacre...
I think the people started to udnerstand the rules...
"RED LIGHT"
I froze up, praying i wasnt moving...
"GREEN LIGHT"
From the corner of my eye, i could see an old man... 001, the one i had noticed when i woke up...
He seemed to have good grasp of the rules...
"RED LIGHT"
I stopped.
The timer said we had about 2 minutes left... meaning weve already wasted 3 important minutes... i was barely away from the start...
"GREEN LIGHT"
I stopped walking and started running... this was the only way i could get there in time...
I stopped running a bit earlier and stood still.
"RED LIGHT"
It was like i expected... my stragety seemed to work...
"GREEN LIGHT"
I saw that the 001 already had already proceeded further than me... he was pretty close to the finishing line...
"RED LIGHT"
I could hear more gunshots and bodys falling to the ground...
But everyone seemed to have understood the rules..
I glanced at the timer... 1 minute and 30 seconds left...
I grit my teeth...
"GREEN LIGHT"
I ran forward... the finish line was actually starting to get pretty close...
Some people were already in front of me...
"RED LIGHT"
i squeezed my eyes shut as i heard more people dying...
"GREEN LIGHT"
The first people managed to cross the line, i was only about... i think 2 rounds away...
"RED LIGHT"
I stopped, the finish line only being a few steps away...
...but i didnt realize someone behind my had messed up...
I heard a gunshot and the warmth of a bullet cross my cheek as someone behind me got shock
"GREEN LIGHT"
The half-alive person clammered onto my clothes, most likely trying to claw me down..
I struggled as hard as i could... and luckily managed to proceed further, with a heavy sprint and a roll i was able to cross the finish line...
I huffed a bit... exausted from the emotional and physical stress...
'I- I did it..!'
"RED LIGHT"
I looked around, a few people managed to cross in time... while other got shot trying to reach the finish line ..
I rubbed my eye slowly standing up from the ground.
I looked behind me at one of the guards...
'Holy shit... if i didnt get that advise... id probably be dead by now...'
I looked up at the timer... 30 seconds and so on those 30 seconds turned into 20 and those turned into 10...
I gulped seeing a few people quite far behind.
My eyes widened a bit as i saw one guy holding the number 456 by his collar... hed... most likely be dead... he saved his life...
"GREEN LIGHT"
They both started bucking it to the finish line as if their life... oh wait
"RED LI-"
before the doll could turn around the timer went to 0...
Both of them made it past the line... but there were still.. many people behind the finish line.
I quickly slapped my hands over my face as i could only heard gunshots and bodys fall to the ground...
I didnt want to open my eyes... scared to see the pile of dead bodys...
This was the first round... i won barely... without the advise of that one guard... i would have died...
But why...? Why did he..?
Whatever... i should be happy im still alive... i could have been in that pile of corpses right now...

Rimward Bound
Every citizen of the sky-cities of His Majesty's Star-Empire knows that a ship, both sky- and star-, is more then just a few bits of metal. It is the grand sum of it's hull and the crew that sail it. 'Hulls of battle-steel and men to match!' That's what the Navy's recruitment poster's claim at least. Every sailor knows that there is one more component that the city-bound folk ignore at their own peril: the soul of the ship. That it takes both man and hull to make a true ship, and that neither alone serve well or for long. In 8225 Lord Jeffrye Saltonstall the Fourth, Political Lord of the Surveyor's Corps, demands semi-automated ships to 'reduce the loss of life among our brave crews', manages to convince the other politicians and bureaucrats to fund them, and gets the Office of Ship Construction to sign off on the ships as structurally sound. Dockyard workers shake their heads at the ships, muttering that they are cursed from birth, even as construction drags on. In 8230 the Explorer, first of her class, is launched. She sets out in 8233 to great fanfare on a trip expected to last six months. Neither she nor her twelve-person crew is ever heard from again. By 8235, the remaining seven Explorers are are commissioned. Lord Saltonstall managed to find crews for six of them but at the cost of mass resignations. The Night Horse, last of the Explorer class, sat in reserve as her sister-ships served well enough despite ill luck and misfortune. The Office of Ship Construction quietly issues notice that no more semi-automated ships are to be built and that all active Semi-automated ships are to be quietly retired and broken up for scrap over the next ten years. The Night Horse, sitting in reserve, is missed due to bureaucratic oversight. In 8250 Lord Ayland Wynstryngham the Eighth assumes the office of Political Lord of the Surveyor's Corps. His first act is to issue notice that no ship is to be without crew nor sit in dock or reserve for longer then required for maintenance and upkeep. The Night Horse, all but forgotten, is quietly brought back into active service. Recruiting a crew for her proves another matter entirely. What poor or desperate fool would willingly sign on to crew, much less command, a cursed ship and spend months or years in deep space? Well, you would, of course. Where else is a kid from the gutters going to find that kind of freedom in the service of His Majesty? A [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] 2021.
