《TMNT Dimensions (completed)》Chapter 18: Backwards, part 16

Splinter stood in front of his throne, admiring the chaos around him. His servants were occupying the opposing party, and that gave him time to take in all the violence. Splinter looked like Hamato Yoshi, but much older. His hair was almost completely silver, and his face was etched with frown lines and worry lines. His shirt was just like the upper half of Oroku Saki's infamous armor. His belt was laden with weapons, like guns, throwing stars, mini blades, and dozens more. He didn't wear any armor on his legs but instead, lose silver pants. He also didn't wear The Shredder's helmet and used an emerald walking stick.
Suddenly, his ninja sense flickered, and his hand shot out. He grabbed a throwing star right before it could nick his ear. He looked down at it in curiosity, then looked in the direction it had come from, only to dodge another. He looked at the spot in the shadows they seemed to be coming from and tracked the thrower based on who they targeted next. Once he was sure of where they were, he charged, and grabbed the hidden warrior from the neck, letting them dangle above the ground. He was shocked to find the warrior was a small teenage girl. She clawed at his hands as he gripped her neck, cutting off her airflow.
"Pathetic." He spat in his thick Chinese accent. "You thought you could hide from me? Your the scrawniest shrimp I ever saw!"
Bree managed to pry a few of Splinter's fingers from her neck, and gasped. "Are you... (gasp) seriously body-shaming me right now? (gasp)"
Splinter scowled, and with one flick of his wrist, sent her somersaulting through the air.
-**********************************-
Bree was so shocked by the force of Splinter's throw that the wind was knocked out of her, which definitely didn't help the ghostly sensation of still being choked. She felt as though Splinter's weathered fingers were still gripping her neck, and her oxygen-deprived body managed to shiver at the memory.

Her arms and legs flailed, hoping to snag something, anything, that could stop or at least slow her perilous descent. By some stroke of luck, she managed to grab hold of one of the chains that were hanging from the rafters. Unfortunately, the chain in question dangled right above the vat of humitagin. Her palms began to sweat, and she slipped a few links closer to the goop. Panicked, she cried out the first name that came to mind:
"MIKEY!!"
He managed to pause his battle with Don-a-kill-you and look up at her. His eyes widened in fear. He looked over at Ralph, who was also fighting Donnie's evil alternative.
Ralph had also heard the call, and he looked from Mikey to Bree while absentmindedly swiping at Don-a-kill-you with his sias. He smirked at his brother. "Go save your girlfriend, tiger." Mikey blushed madly, but started running towards Bree.
Splinter watched the exchange a few steps away from his throne. After yeeting Bree, he had begun traveling back to his raised platform, but had been distracted by her call for help. He knew just how to dampen the strange turtle boy's spirits. He raised one of guns and aimed. This gun in particular was packed with a special... kick.
-**********************************-
Mikey ran as fast as he could, and thought of how to best rescue Bree. He and Ralph had been fighting Don-a-kill-you way on the other side of Splinter's fortress, so he had some distance to run. There was a stair case winding up the vat which was not unlike the fire escapes back home in New York. He knew how to climb up them like they were nothing. Then, he could jump from the platform, across the vat, and over to Bree, henceforth succeeding in his daring rescue! But as he ran, he saw something out of the corner of his eye. The thing whizzed toward Bree, and lodged itself into her torso in a spray of blood.

Bree gasped as she felt a sharp pain in her abdomen, but before she could look down to see what was wrong, she was shocked with a bolt of electricity. She screamed in pain, and felt herself slip further down the chain. She screwed her eyes shut and clenched her teeth. All she had to do was hold on a little longer... Mikey was almost to her, and then everything would be ok... but then she felt another sharp pain. This time in her shoulder. She screamed as more electricity coursed through her veins, and she let go of the chain. She fell into the vat of humitagin, and fell unconscious as soon as she hit the surface of the backwards sludge...

My Life is Not a Manga, or maybe...
Xavier had a happy, humdrum life: normal friendships, a normal girlfriend, a somewhat oddball family. Until, that is, he literally stumbled through the fourth wall and discovered he was the protagonist of a manga. Now he's scrambling to maintain any semblance of control over his own life in the face of something he never imagined he would need to contend with: the power of the Genre. Hello, E.O. Tenkey here; thank you for your interest in "Not A Manga"! This was my first serial novel, and I hope you enjoy Xavier's predicament! Familiarity with manga not required (though it can't hurt)! I look forward to exploring the bounds of the Genre with you. (First volume is rated PG-13 for comic mayhem and light profanity—these are high school students, after all. Second volume is rated PG-13 to R for some violence and similar levels of profanity. Tags may or may not contain spoilers.)

Body Modifier: Energy Required
Aria ate a fish. [Energy: 2] Finished, he ate another fish. [Energy: 2] ... [Energy: 3] Without realizing it, he had finished 5 fishes. He felt a little bloat, he lay down with a full stomach, occasionally burped. Even though he didn't want to be a big lump of meatball, he still had to keep eating. At least until he found another way to accumulate energy. After all, if he didn't take advantage of his advantages, wasn't that stupid? His mind then drifted imagining which one he would use the energy for. Should he use it on his eyes, so it shot a beam of laser, like a certain bespectacled mutant? Should he use it on his bones, so it regenerated infinitely, like a certain character from an anime? Should he use it on his brain, so he became a genius, like a scientist with a bald head? Or should he use it on his vital organ, so that he became the manliest person in the world? While he was imagining things, suddenly his ears felt pinched. "Ouch!" "Didn't mom already say you can't play with fire, you brat?!" There he realized, knowing that no matter what he chose, he was still a child in front of his mother.
