"Akialine?" Akia's father Arthur said pointing the candle light he was loving towards the girl and boy on the floor.
"Papa." Akia gasped shoving the boy away from her body.
"What are you doing here?" Akia asked but the older man wasn't interested in answering without first finding out what they were doing holding each other in the dark in their garden.
"Everett?" The general said voice low.
"Yes General Kenya." Everett said straightening up his form. The older man hated any form of slouching
"What were you two doing?"
"Talking, just talking."
"You couldn't talk as we are now?, do you require to be in someone's embrace before you can hear them? Because I can hug you if that's what you need to understand me right now." The general said voice stern and frighteningly authoritative.
"N-" before Everett could finish the burly man wrapped him up in a tight hug. Squeezing him entirely too tight.
" how's this son?" General Kenya said loudly and Akia giggles.
"It's nice to see you again kid." The general said soften his hold. Everett relaxes no longer feeling the pain of being squeezed or the discomfort of anxiety.
"You too general." Everett said as the general pat his back. As they hugged, the sound of numerous footsteps begin to approach them.
Akia turns to look in the direction of where they are coming from and she sees the king with his guards walking confidently behind him in the warm night.
"Your majesty." Everett spoke first surprised. He bows immediately and Akia bows as well followed by the general's shorter swifter one.
"My king what do I owe this visit?" General Kenya said.
"I was going towards the palace for the night and decided to check up on your lovely home." The king said eying Akia,
Who avoids his eyes.
"I would ask you the same question Arthur." The king said and the general who is obviously made uncomfortable by the King's presence answered.
"I was sent a letter from northern wales, they spoke of a vampiric invasion and I went to assist in the termination of said invasion." The general said.
"I assumed you were going wall you should've educated me on the fact that you didn't have that destination in mind, or on this vocalized vampiric invasion." The king said tone very low and dark.
He assumed that the soldier was acting out, suddenly undermining his control over him.
"They say a good servants takes care of a problem before the employer even notices it."
"They say a Slave should tell their master where they are going under any circumstances. How else are they to remain helpful to the master if they are not in a position where they can be called upon." The King's words were unnecessarily degrading and Akia hated it to her core. The king was never like this to her father before. They acted as friends before this, she'd even caught them nonsensically socializing on more than one occasion.
For the king to reduce him to a mere slave because of their faulted relationship because of Akia made her feel terrible inside.
"I understand, I won't do it again." General Kenya said and the king hummed.
"Begin your journey to the wall before day break tomorrow." The king said and
Akia's mouth gaped.
"He just got here." She said trying to hide the whine.
"Yes so he shouldn't have much trouble packing." The king said.
"But- why does he have to leave so soon-" Akia said voice cracking.

"Akialine, I understand I set a bad example for you in the past but You do not question the king, do you understand me?"
"But - that's not fair. Why's he talking to you like you were deserting and not helping people like you've been doing everyday of your life." Akia whined tears in her eyes.
Her father shot her a glare and she wiped her eyes before they fell.
"Akia! Watch your mouth! I'm sorry your majesty I'll make sure she's punished for her disrespect." The general said and Akia's eyes well up some more. Her father had never punished her, she's never done anything to warrant it.
"No matter general, she's my property now I'll make sure her punishments taken care of."
"Property?" Everett asked staring at Akia who looked at him apologetically.
"A nice night like this is too beautiful to waste punishing others. Let's save it for a colder day. Enjoy your night." The king said before he started walking away.
Akia bravely started following him as her father led Everett towards his home.
"Your majesty, can I speak to you alone?" Akia said and the king stopped walking, so did his guards.
"Alone please." Akia said with a polite smile.
The guards looked to the king who waved them off.
Akia then walked up to the King until they were barely inches apart. He gets flustered as her scent fills him up. He's moments away from salivating at the intense intoxicating smell that the wind kept pushing towards him.
"You didn't have to talk to my father that way. He's served you loyally, he put everything on the line to fight along side you in a war that he could've easily just kicked and imprisoned you for trying to start. If it wasn't for him and his soldiers the one he raised, he fought for food for, you'd be dead and you know it. So don't ever, disrespect him like that again. Or at the very least not in front of me." Akia said sternly putting her foot down for the first time in her entire life.
It wasn't just that her father was her hero, or the hero of the entire kingdom for standing alongside the king when he needed it most. He was supposed to be the King's hero too, he practically saved his life. Sure the king was powerful magically but there was so much magic to go around. There were millions of men at his door step ready to tear it down and if her father ever hesitated he would've been done for.
"Talk to me like that one last time." The king said in a voice Akia has never heard before. She backed away slowly.
"No, go ahead. Give me a reason to feast."
His green eyes that usually glowed green had transitioned into something darker, something eternally void and black.
He starts walking towards her and she walks backwards away from him. His who psyche has changed. He's actively making himself larger and more frightening than he was before as if he wasn't already a muscular giant by human standards.
"Wait- lets calm down alright." Akia said walking into a small branch on the floor. She looks down to look at it but by the time she looks up. She's face to face with him.
"Guards-" she tried to call out but they all remained in the distance with they backs turned against the two of them.
Thinking no one was coming for her. She decides emptily to stand up for herself. She stands up on her tippy toes and grabs the King's square jaw.

"This isn't going to scare me into retracting what I said." She said staring into the black eyes of the king.
"I'm not going to be afraid of you Octavius." She said and brought her hand to his mouth.
"Someone once told me that being afraid when you're powerless is a waste of time." Akia said before planting her lips with his.
He's shocked at the sensation and immediately moves back.
"W-why did you do that." The king said.
"You stuttered?!" Akia pointed out.
"Shut up I didn't stutter." The king said turning around and with rosy colors filling up his cheeks.
"You're blushing. You stuttered and then blushed." Akia said mockingly.
"Be quiet or I'll have you imprisoned for the rest of your life."
"Sure your highness, if you can take a second while you're blushing to death to punish me."
"Stop it." The king said bringing his hand up to feel his burning hot cheek.
He's temperature is never high.
He starts to walk away.
" how's my mother." Akia said stopping him.
"She's starting to rot." The king said and Akia heart fell.
"W-What?" She's left with a painfully heavy heart.
"Now you've stuttered, are we even now?." The king said.
"Are you serious?" Akia asked.
"That was of poor taste. Your mother isn't rotting. "
"Would it really kill you to be nice to me?" Akia asked genuinely saddened by the fact that he could say that to her, as an attempt to get her back for teasing him about a mundane body reaction.
"Akialine, if you stayed in your position from the very beginning. If you just closed your eyes and waited all of this part out, if you had just told your parents, your friends and neighbors that you were going to just stick it out, if you had just accepted this from the beginning.. I wouldn't be this discontent with you."
"You're blaming me for the fact that I'm unhappy that I was used, devalued by you. You're blaming me because I've created relationships and bonds with people who actually care enough to attempt to stand up for me when someone just assumes the rights to my body. Hate me all you want it won't change how horrible you feel about what you've done to me. Hating me is going to make the guilt grow and eat you up way faster later on. You are nothing like the king my father told me about, you're a coward. A sad pathetic excuse for a man much less a king for not being able to take responsibility for your actions and the fact that you stood there and called my father a slave. A slave to you. You? As if he didn't give you the air that you're breathing today. My father would've never bent a knee if he knew you were going to betray him like this. My father would never be on the side of a coward."
Akia heart was racing in her chest as she finished her speech.
She's heaving now, holding on her stomach as a sharp cramp went through her. She hunches over and cries in pain.
The king looks at her as she doubled over in pain. He stares at her and every cell in his body fights against each other. He could help her like he wanted or he could let her suffer.
He looks at her.
"Coward." He says to himself as he turns around and leaves.
"Lets go." He says and the men began following him. Some turning to take a look at Akia before they walked away.
Akia's sudden surge of pain goes away as soon as the king leaves. She assumes it's his doing.
It's only inside the dark cold house that she questioned about her mother. She lies to her father. Says she'd gone to visit a sick friend. The disappointment in her father's face is heartwarming knowing it would've been way worse if he knew the truth.
Once her father goes to his bed, she quietly goes into his room. She sees his sleeping form and she lays on the bed and holds him from the back.
"Akia, you're an adult now you can't sleep with your parents anymore." Her father said and Akia snuggled into his back.
"Would you rather I found a man to hold?" Akia asked and her father laces his fingers with hers.
A very obvious 'no'.
"What was he like when he was younger?"
"Who?" The general asked.
"The king." Akia said.
"More hopeful, happy. Less consumed by everything royalty. He was beautiful then they used to call him a reflection of the sun, some thought he was the sun king for a while but as he started to grow it was apparent that he was just doing his best impression of the sun king."
"Is he a bad person papa?" Akia was sure she was supposed to know the answer to this. But she didn't, not truly anyway.
"I don't want to make excuses for him but I've seen him suffer with the other parts of him. Their impulses are hard for them to control much less a human. Sometimes they just overtake him."
"If you could love him, how would you do it knowing he was in a constant battle with these things." Akia asked.
"Why do you want to know?" Her father asked.
"You know I love love. I just want to know."
"Most people would say loving every part of the person you love is the only way to love properly and I believe that's not what he needs . you must always be with someone he inspires you to do better whether it's with yourself or with others. He needs someone to help him in every way to do better. The only way he'll ever beat the things inside him is if he learns to stop giving in, if he learns to love who he is when he's human. Otherwise these monsters will eventually eat every piece of him remaining."
"Do you believe in soul mates papa?" Akia asked.
"I don't just believe them Akia. They exist. We see it all the time in vampires and naturally bred werewolves. Soul mates are real."
"What if you don't like your soulmate." Akia says suddenly after a couple moments of silence.
"Then you haven't truly met them yet."
Akia starts to think maybe the witch doctor was wrong about them being soul mates. She hadn't felt anything when she kissed him this time in fact she felt a lot of pain afterwards. It might've been nature making sure she knew that he wasn't meant for her.
The king was not her soul mate.
The king looked at himself in the mirror, his cheeks were sunken in and there were very prominent black veins on his neck.
He was starving and beginning to eat himself from the inside.
He puts the mirror down on his bed turns over to the side of his bed. Preparing to stand up and begin his day when he saw a rolled up letter on the floor.
He opens it up to find it addressed to Akia.
He reads over the letters anxiously. His younger feelings flooded through him. He looks around for more of the letters he'd put on his bed but finds none he looks everywhere for the letters and they're no where to be found.
"WHERE ARE THEY?" He's slamming his royal robe for the day on the floor as he anxiously looks for the letters.
"Your majesty is something wrong?" A guard said charging into the room.
"LETTERS!, THERE WERE LETTERS ON MY BED AND NOW THERE ARE NOT." The king said and the guard smiles.
"Ah yes, the maid told me yesterday she found some finished letters in your room already packaged and I assumed they were ready to be sent." The guard said as if it was something deserving of gratitude.
"YOU DID WHAT?!" The king yells.
The mirror shatters.
