《Complications Of A Marriage ( COMPLETED)》Chapter 7

Juhi was organizing her stuff for the next day. She had an important meeting. The meeting would take her a step forward. She could directly work under her father, if this meeting turned out successful.
Though she was nervous, but talking to Ankita and meeting Vikram had taken her mind off things, until she made a list of "To do tasks" for the week.
Now she was panicking, having wasted her day off. She didn't even go through the presentation once. How could she be so irresponsible? Such an important presentation and she messed up! Sighing, she opened her laptop and put on her glasses and got to work.
Midway through the presentation, her phone rang, it said Vikram calling. She answered the call.
[J for Juhi and V for Vikram]
J : Hello!
J: I am actually going through a presentation.
J: No, Vikram! We can talk. I am almost done.
J : Quit the formalities. Tell me what were you doing.
J : You don't work on Sundays?
Juhi was amazed how can a workaholic like him not work on Sundays!
.
Juhi chuckled at how correct her first thoughts were
J: Lucky you! Got work done in the afternoon.
J: Wish I could. But maa took me in the kitchen today.
J: If you can count shapeless rotis and veggies a dish. I made that.
Vikram asked chuckling.
Juhi nodded but then realised he couldn't see her,
J : Yes, now I will be joining her daily. She wants me to learn cooking for you.
Vikram's eyes widened. Just how outspoken was she. He flushed and with a smile said,
Juhi was amazed by this man.
J: Initially, she had to force me. But now, I want to learn, for you.
She blushed profusely. What was wrong with her, she could never talk to any guy like that. He was doing things to her head.

Vikram on the other hand had gone silent. He was rubbing his face with a weird smile on.
After a bit of silence, she asked
J: Are you there?
came his voice loud, as if he was startled.
Juhi hummed in response.
Juhi blasted him with details and also her father's comments. Vikram was enjoying the conversation laughing at her antics.
When his eyes fell on the clock, it was 12. She had told him, to not call after 12.
Juhi glanced at the clock and wondered how she managed to talk to the guy for more than an hour.
J: Yes, I should go.
J: Good night, Vikram.
Hanging up Juhi, stared back at her laptop. Groaning she got back to work.
While Vikram had a smile on his face, he was excited to talk to this girl.
He made a note to ask her out on a date soon. With that he fell asleep.

The Simulacrum
"He who fights with harem tropes should see to it that he himself does not become a harem protagonist. And if you gaze for long into a narrative, the narrative gazes also into you." --- Friedrich Nietzsche (probably?) How would you react if one day you woke up inside an environment running on tropes and clichés? For allegedly average high-schooler Leonard Dunning, this question became quite relevant when one day he woke up in a pristine city on a strange island in the middle of the Atlantic, without any memories, surrounded by classmates who are barely more than characterless placeholders, and with a classic indecisive harem protagonist and his impossibly beautiful love interests for friends. That would be hard to deal with already, yet his investigation into the tropes governing the world, trying to avoid harem shenanigans, and his odd blend of outside-context knowledge, unique abilities, and a penchant for causing trouble wherever he goes ends up dragging him into the center of the action anyway. Disclaimer: This is a tongue-in-cheek, slice of life romantic comedy, with occasional sprinkles of combat and mystery to spice things up. Please do not expect a straight up deconstruction beyond some in-universe meta-commentary by the characters.
