Cat and I stood in the gym practicing our set list for the dance. We were planning, in this order :
1. "Thriller" by Michael Jackson
2. "The Monster Mash"
3. "This Is Halloween" from Nightmare Before Christmas
4. "What's This" from Nightmare Before Christmas
5. "It's Almost Halloween" by Panic! At The Disco (Cat insisted, and I almost refused. The Halloween dance is no place for memes.)
6. "Spooky Scary Skeletons" (Once again, Cat's idea.)
7. The Addams Family theme song
8. "This is Gospel" by Panic! At The Disco
9. "Emperor's New Clothes" by Panic! At The Disco
10. "Sugar We're Going Down" by Fall Out Boy
11. "I Don't Care" by Fall Out Boy
12. "Welcome To The Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance
"No, no, no-no-no-no-no," Cat groaned. "It's G, then G-minor."
I rolled my eyes. "You give me no creative license."
Cat was my best friend in the world, but he definitely got on my nerves sometimes, especially when it came to working together.
"Okay, okay," he gave up. "Go G-minor, then G. What do I care?"
I laughed.
At this moment, the gym door opened loudly, and Cat and I turned to see my long-haired, ponytail-wearing, suit-clad brother Todd with his arms out and a smirk on his face.
Cat scowled. "What're you doing here, Todd?"
Todd's smirk only grew. "I'm on the decorating committee. Clear out."
"No way, Todd," I snapped. "We claimed the gym today, you'll have to wait."
"Afraid not," Todd smirked, pulling a folded piece of paper from the pocket of his white suit jacket. "I'm the one who turned in paperwork."
Cat's face fell. "I-"
"That's not fair and you know it, Todd," I growled, suddenly enraged by Todd's effect on my best friend. "Nobody's ever had to turn in paperwork before."
Todd laughed slightly. "They do now. You forget, I'm the newest member of the dance committee."
My face contorted in horror.
"You asshole," I breathed. "You changed the rules."
"You've got it, Little Brother."
I gritted my teeth. That asshole was only two minutes older and he knew it.
"Clear out. You'll get in the way of our decorating."
