《Unnatural Disaster || JJK ✔️》Epilogue [Edited]

"You remember the doctor that helped Sang Ook with his plans of killing your father? I'm so ashamed to say this but he was my dad..."
Both Jungkook and Y/N were left dumbstruck at Daejung's sudden confession and when none of them spoke a single word in regards to his claims, he took the silence as his queue to go on with the story.
"Y/N" he began once again now completely engrossed in memories. "Did Yoongi ever tell you that someone from the hospital called him that night and informed him about poison being found in Myung Dae's system?"
The mere question made flashes appear in Y/N's mind and she looked down at her feet with overwhelming anticipation before nodding her head in affirmation.
"Y-yes. I was there in the room when he got that anonymous call. At that time we were so devastated that we completely forgot to ask for the caller's identity-"
"Well, you have it now. It was I who called Yoongi to give him the information. I got his number from Myung Dae's file, he was enlisted as Myung Dae's emergency contact..."
Daejung pressed his lips into a thin line as he rummaged through the events from the past, reminiscing the unfortunate night when the sick Sang Ook brought down not only the Kims but also the Chois.
The antagonist managed to ruin not one but several lives in just a fraction of a day. Maybe that's why today, when he himself was standing at the edge of his own sins, barely hanging from a thread between freedom and eternal agony, his both victims found each other. Maybe in this quest for justice, fate wanted them to join hands and work together to avenge what they had lost. After all, destiny sure has its weird ways of manifesting itself.
Daejung looked up to find Y/N staring deeply into his eyes as tears brimmed her own. Jungkook sat beside her, now closer than before, holding her hand tightly presumably to let her know that he was there for her and it warmed Daejung's heart to see them like that. He could see the love and adoration Jungkook and Y/N had for each other and it reminded him of a certain someone back at home who looks at him the same way they looked at each other, with nothing but love. And the thought alone made him more determined on his pursuits.
"Back then I was just a trainee..." heaving a deep sigh the doctor began, thereby gaining back the other two's attention. "I had newly joined the hospital and your dad was the first patient I got to work with. Everything was going pretty normal that evening, they brought the body in and I saw the lab workers doing some customary tests on him. I wasn't allowed to touch anything just yet so as my assignment, I was asked to see the autopsy process and study the doctors' reports after they left.
Initially I was doing exactly that but then curiosity got the best out of me and once the senior doctors had completely evacuated the room, I prowled through some personal stuffs to learn more about the biological reasons for the death. And that was when I found Myung Dae's real post-mortem report. There it clearly said that the death was caused by hemlock poisoning. But I distinctly remembered the mention of some sort of prolonged ailment in the death certificate. The contradicting reports confused me severely and I got alarmed and contacted Yoongi immediately.
But later that night I came to know that Myung Dae's death certificate was forged and the one to do that was my dad himself. Apparently, he was offered a large sum of money by someone for the job and my dad succumbed to the greed..."

Daejung paused for a moment to take a sip of his tea that had already lost its warmth from sitting through the entire ordeal. Gloom was evident on his face. Clearly he wasn't very proud of his family history, if anything, he was remorseful. Even though he had nothing to do with what happened two years ago, he still considered himself guilty for he's the perpetrator's son and no matter how much he tried, he couldn't just extinguish the love he had for his dad.
"That was the night when my father dropped down from my sight. The respect I had for him turned into disdain and I confronted the old man but I was too late for his greed had already made him forget all about his doctor's oath. Sang Ook's manipulation led him to choose money over integrity and eventually, he got punished by death itself..."
The stability in Daejung's voice started to falter and a drop of tear rolled down his cheek, marking the beginning of the damp avalanche that was yet to flow. Y/N though had already let loose the dam of her own agony.
"Dad couldn't see through Sang Ook's deception. The sick bastard killed my father the very next day and made his death look like a car crash and the reward my father was promised, well, he never received that.
Dad's one wrong decision remained as a nasty stain on our lives and I couldn't bring myself to contact Yoongi anymore. A part of me wanted to come clean to your family but he was still my father and I didn't want to jeopardize the respect he had earned through his years of medical practice. I hated him so bad for what he did but at the same time, I didn't. I wanted to think of him as nothing but a selfish murderer but the voice of him calling to me with love kept ringing in my ears and I couldn't just get myself to let the childhood memories go. No matter what he did, he was my father and I still loved him. And that's why I spent the last two years drowning in indecision and guilt, not knowing what I did was right or utterly wrong..."
Three pairs of eyes all brimming with tears now that Daejung was done with his confession. Y/N was crying vigorously and so was Daejung. To think about it, their stories were not very different. Even though the circumstances were unlike, both had suffered the pain of losing a loved one and both had suffered enough. Now was the time to give back the pain to the one that deserved it the most.
"I am so sorry Y/N. I know nothing can annul the injustice my father did but I'll still hope that you can forgive us someday-"
"You don't have to be sorry. It's not your fault" saying so she turned towards Jungkook with a longing glance and the latter immediately understood what the girl wanted. He pushed her chair all the way around the table until she was face to face with the sobbing doctor.
She sent his way a soft but sad smile before taking his hands in her own. The gesture caught Daejung by surprise but nonetheless he kept his gaze straight on her.
"Our stories are not very different Daejung, actually it ain't different at all. To be honest, my appa did some bad stuffs too but I still love him with my whole heart and I don't intend to stop anytime soon. Sang Ook was the one who manipulated my father into doing things that weren't right and apparently he did the same to your dad as well. I am not saying that our fathers were innocent but whatever it is, they aren't here anymore. So what's the point of judging them anyways? No matter what they did, they were still good fathers and now that they are gone, can't we just let the bad memories go and only keep the precious ones with us. I mean, they have already paid the price with their lives, how much more might they need to do?

Instead of calling up on their faults how about we just let them rest in peace and in the meantime, we put our heads together to penalize the one who is at most fault here"
Like a ray of sunshine did a smile appear on Daejung's face. Now that he knew the girl had forgiven him and was on the same page as he was, he felt his guilt slowly wither away. The two years long turmoil finally came to an end and Daejung grasped tightly the bony fingers that were already entwined with his before looking up to grin at Y/N first and then at Jungkook with a vitalized assurance.
Heaving a deep sigh that was most probably of relief he parted his lips for he had more to say, more to unravel in front of the young couple.
"Thank you Y/N. You know I never believed in destiny before. But a week ago when I was appointed to your case, I knew I had gotten a second chance to mend what my father had ruined. At first I didn't recognize the girl lying on the gurney but then I saw your bond papers and memories came flooding back. There, under the legal guardian's column was Yoongi's name and a signature that I had so vividly remembered since days ago. Everything felt to me like a divine intervention and I hesitated none before indulging myself in making things right.
And then today, when you finally opened your eyes and woke up from your coma, I felt this strong sense of accomplishment flush through my veins as if I had done something extraordinary. The peace I had lost the day Myung Dae died, I finally got it back when I successfully saved his daughter, thank you"
Tears were shed and smiles were exchanged. The two victims were happy to have found each other for now they knew someone who shared their pain and dealt the same misfortune. For them it was like finding a friend with similar interests, well, not really but you get the point.
And as far as Jungkook was concerned, he felt immense pride in witnessing the growth his beloved Y/N had gone through. The girl who used to stay reserved and blamed her fate for her every misery was now helping another to look past their painful memories. The Y/N who used to stay locked up in her room and cry about her life was now telling someone else to be optimistic and look for what was to come. If this isn't maturity then what is?
Jungkook felt happy for he believed that he had something to do with this transformation, even if it was just a little. However the universe knew the truth. The young lieutenant was right to feel ecstatic because he was the one to contribute the most in Y/N's improving life, even if he didn't know that himself. The one thing that none of her friends or family could do, Jungkook did it, he made Y/N smile genuinely for the first time in two years! The Universe saw the changes Jungkook brought into Y/N's life and the divine was quite satisfied with how things happened to have turned out.
But the question still remained, didn't it? Daejung's reasons for helping Y/N was now clear but why exactly did he do that little drama inside the ICU earlier? And why did he say 'sorry' to Jungkook when he knew nothing was wrong with Y/N?
Even with all the confessions and heavy emotions being poured out in the open, the sceptical mind of Lieutenant Jeon held onto its doubts and once he got an opportunity to ask, Jungkook let loose the strings.
"Daejung, can I ask you something? Why did you make me believe that Y/N was gone when she actually wasn't" Jungkook asked away rendering the mentioned girl silent. She looked up at Jungkook and then at Daejung with confused eyes for she had no clue what Jungkook was talking about. A layer of seriousness was all that coated the speaker's face.
But once again, much to Jungkook's dismay, Daejung let out a small grin like earlier before standing up from his chair with a sheet of paper in his hands that he had previously fished out from his drawer.
"To prove a point" came his simple reply as the doctor started strolling about in the room, visibly preparing himself to solve the very last bit of the mystery.
"I listened to the story you said Jungkook. I heard how Y/N was bound to go to jail in spite of being good at heart. Losing both parents at a tender age of eighteen is already very painful, I didn't want her to suffer anymore. Saving her life and then discharging her only for her to end up in jail would have only added to the remorse I already felt in my heart. She's like a little sister to me and I badly wanted to help. And in that moment of desperation, a quick plan crossed my mind.
But I wasn't quite sure about it's efficiency just yet, so I tested it on you. I said a simple 'Sorry' and you fell to your knees, crying and what not. One word from the doctor and you believed that your Y/N was gone. So what if you make the court believe the same thing?"
"What do you mean?"
"I guess my family will be ending up in hell for doing this time and again but I think I can make you a fake death certificate of Y/N to present at the trial. Here, I've made a rough draft, take a look..."
Jungkook never revealed to the guys that submitting a forged death certificate at the court was Daejung's idea all along. He also didn't tell them that configuring the ECG machine that way was Daejung's way of making people nearby believe that the unfortunate had happened in the ICU, and that he deliberately called off the nurses beforehand to avoid suspicion. Instead Jungkook kept all of it to himself.
The shocked faces of the members if they had heard the story would have been hilarious to watch though. But apparently nothing that sort was going to happen. Before we left, Daejung made Jungkook and I promise that we would never tell a fourth person about his story. He didn't need anymore unnecessary attention to be bestowed upon his family, that is his wife and mother back at home and I accorded with him at that.
So I was pretty glad when Jungkook decided to keep the promise as well and not reveal any secrets in front of our friends.
"So-" Hoseok's voice broke through the momentary silence that had spread through the meadow when the people took time recovering from their gut wrenching laughters. The gazes one by one landed on the speaker, waiting for him to continue with his sentence.
"What's the plan now? We have jobs no-more and Yoongi hyung and Y/N don't even have a place to stay. Sure they can lodge with one of us for the time being, but how are we gonna survive in the long run, how we gonna afford our lives now?"
Even though dwelling in the fleeting contentment felt really nice, we still had to return to reality and Hoseok's words evoked us to do just that. Smiling faces reverted to deep thoughts and I felt a strong arm drape around my waist, pulling me away from Taehyung and into another chest that was way stronger and felt much more warm and secure.
I glanced to my side to see Jungkook smiling down at me affectionately and soon I felt his hold tighten around me as he turned to face forward at the crowd.
"I won't say completely jobless" Jungkook claimed making expectant faces snap to his direction while I kept staring at him, only to see his smile now stretch into a wider grin.
"Taehyung hyung, I have something for you" saying so Jungkook let go of me and made his way to the aforementioned all while fishing something out of his coat's inner pocket. It was an envelope.
"What is it?" Taehyung looked at Jungkook with confused eyes to which the latter did nothing but place the envelope in his hands and pat his shoulder as if he was proud of him.
"The police department saw your impressive hacking skills and wants you to attend a training programme with the cyber crime department. And if everything goes well, they are willing to give you a decent position in the department..."
Taehyung's already large eyes widened more than it ever did and I swear I saw his pupils dilate before a river of happy tears barged out of his eyes. I guess this is what it feels to have dreams come true.
Without wasting any second Taehyung tackled Jungkook with a tight hug and started crying profusely onto the latter's shoulders.
"You have no idea how much this means to me" his crying voice sounded hilarious but none of us laughed. Instead we were busy trying to keep our own eyes dry. We all knew how much he loved coding and wanted to do something with it. And this moment right now made us realize that dreams do come true, you just gotta believe in them.
A smiling Jungkook patted Taehyung's lowered head before softly pushing himself away from the hug for he had more awesome news to bestow upon us. Why awesome? You'll know...
"During the training period you'll have to lodge with other trainees in the office's boarding house so I guess, Yoongi hyung can take up your room in the apartment you share with Jiminshi"
The infamous gummy smile made an appearance beside the already glowering boxy one before Jungkook was rendered into a yet another bone crushing hug.

The Last Journey
A slice of life litrpg story... or is it? It's burning slow, though. Moving on: War comes with a great cost. Lives and time wasted for most part. One could either be run with sword, be poisoned, be bowed, and sometimes meet their end with just a tiny speck of wood. With magic, it becomes even more colorful. From lightning, to worse poison, to hovering rocks, to weird bladed leaves, to whipping roots, and to a lot more odd things easily reasoned with magic. A wonderful creation. But once used to something more than wonder, more than tricks to gather laughs, it becomes worse. War becomes worse. For there is not only blood to be spilled. A particular town almost met the same end. Soldiers geared with swrords and bows came with mounts. Horses burning lush grasses as it cracked boulders and the soil alike with every step. The kind that only war ones could ever do. Even strange wheeled creations that oozed danger were towed, loaded with something meant to destroy. But not once had they acted upon what such devices should've done, nor what an an army is supposed to do. Siege never occurred, as much as a command to war. No. Magic existed so a simple little fire is all the worth the town has. No sword drawn, no arrows nocked, nothing. Just some mana spent and through the ash they march. That was how Nudius saw her end. It came not even as a surprise. She didn't have the moment to fully register what occurred before she found herself in an empty dark space. Life lost, time spent. All from a fire that had not even touched her. But she knew very well that it was magic. Something she wished to have and strived for to have. Yet it seemed that none of it would matter now. Nudius was well aware of what the color around meant, of the odd situation, of the unfeeling state of her being. It was death and that was it. She didn't have to worry or dream further. Although there wasn't what she truly wanted in what death to her is, but at least, Nudius was comforted to what she believed death is. Rest. But little did she know there's something more than that empty space. It wasn't only the promise of rest, but was also more than she could ever hope for. Another chance at life. Another chance to dream. ***Tags are there just in case. You never know! Umm... HI-MI-TSU. Story blurb+: This is slow burn, quite slice of life story about a girl learning magic. All the while as she fatten herself up. So yeah, progression fantasy. But there's Litrpg! Numbers! Magic! Spells! And of course! There's something more. But read on ahead, please. Oh yes. Plot! There is, too. Disclaimer: The cover isn't made by me. Just layered it with a text. I got it from a free website, if I correctly recall. I'll see to it. (Haven't worked on it.)
