《The Football Player's Roommate》20.

After one last long kiss I moved so I was beside Theo on the floor. His arm instantly wrapped around me and curled me into his side. I felt so warm and protected in his muscular arms that I never wanted to leave them.
Theo's chin was resting on my head and my face was pressed into his chest which still smelt of the crisp cologne that I couldn't help but feel attracted to.
Five minutes passed in a comfortable silence when I felt something wet on my big toe. I jumped out of Theo's arms with a shriek. There was an instant loss of heat and I inwardly pouted.
"What?! What is it??" Theo grabbed my shoulders and checked all my face and limbs for injuries.
That's when I looked down to my feet and saw Gracie sitting with a completely innocent look on her adorably furry face.
A chuckle escaped my lips before I turned back to Theo. His facial features screamed confused and that only made me laugh more. "I'm okay. I promise. I just didn't expect Gracie to be licking my toes, so it scared me a little bit."
I reassured him by bringing my left hand up to his face and smiling. A smile of his own returned.
I glanced up at the time on the microwave clock. It was almost one in the morning.
"It's pretty late. We should probably get some real sleep in our real beds. What do you think?" I asked him.
"Yeah that actually sounds like a good plan." He nodded before I leaned forward and kissed his cheek.
We both clambered up and I caught his hand in mine to keep my balance before I led him off to his room.
Theo was sobering up quicker than I knew was even possible, but he still was a little disoriented so I knew I should still offer some assistance.
It took lots of convincing to get Theo to lay down, but he eventually did after I promised to make him breakfast in the morning.
"I'm gonna get you some water, Theo. Stay here, okay?"
He just nodded back and I went off to get it.
I open the cabinet and grab a glass before filling it with water. I made sure to get some headache medicine for in the morning.
I went back into Theo's room and quietly set the cup and pills onto his bedside table.
"Did you know...they say another cure for a hangover is sex?" I could practically hear his smirk beside me.
I went over to his bed and sat on the edge beside him.
"I did hear that," I stated. "but I heard there's an even better cure than that."
"Oh yeah? And what's that, doc?"
I looked over to him and he was simpering at me. It was hard not to notice he had taken his shirt off since I had left the first time with his insanely tan abdomen muscles out for show.

Nope. Just look away, Mya.
I chuckled. "Goodnight, Theo." I leaned forward and kissed his cheek before getting up.
I was extremely tired and nothing sounded better than my head hitting the pillow. I was about to leave to go to my room and I was only made it one step from the bed when Theo's hand gently latched around my wrist. I turned back around and saw him looking up at me.
"Theo?"
"Please sleep in here with me, Mya?" He pleaded with desperation thick in his voice. It was something you didn't often hear come from Theo's lips and it made me really want to stay.
"I don't know, Theo I.." I looked toward the door longing to be in my bed snoozing.
"No funny business. I promise. Please, Amaya?" His eyes were begging me and it was becoming clearer and clearer to me that there was little to no chance of me getting to my room.
It was near impossible to refuse Theo while he was in such a vulnerable state.
"Okay, Theo. I'll stay." I climbed over him and laid on the other side of him.
I get under the covers and turn on my right side so my back is facing Theo.
It'd been ten whole minutes and I still couldn't seem to get warm and was in a state of constant shivering. When did it suddenly get so cold?
Suddenly I feel a long muscular arm wrap itself around my waist. A huge wave of warmth instantly surrounds my body and my teeth finally stop chattering.
"Finally. The clacking has stopped." Chuckled Theo.
I rolled my eyes but still had a joker-like grin on my face that I'd never admit to. I snuggled up to him further and felt completely peaceful.
Sleep was near and I could feel it.
Bright light was shining through Theo's window at a blinding rate making me my eyes squint involuntarily.
A loud yawn escapes my lips before I can stop it and I feel something shuffle beside me.
"Be nice if you'd keep it down over there." Theo mutters.
"Maybe you shouldn't have gotten drunk off your ass, bucko." I sarcastically said back.
"It seemed like a good idea at the time." I could feel him shrug beside me.
"Just because you won a football game?"
"No. That wasn't the reason. Trust me I used to go get drunk weekly after games. I was a border-line alcoholic, but I don't do that anymore. I sometimes attend some parties but I don't drink at them anymore. I have too much invested in my future here to be screwing it up on some lame party."
"Then...what made last night so different?" I accidentally blurted out.
I turned on my side and watched
him. He let out a big sigh before turning to his nightstand to pick up the pills I left for him last night before tossing them into his mouth and swishing them down with some water.

He laid back down before turning on his side so we were face-to-face.
I couldn't help but stare into his chocolate brown eyes and get lost in them. My eyes travelled from his and down to his pillowy, pink lips.
My mind wandered to last night and I closed my eyes and remembered all the details as a deep red blush bloomed onto either side of my face.
I couldn't help but wonder if all of it was real for him or if he was just drunk and caught in the moment.
Now didn't feel like the right time to ask. Theo must have something major going on if he felt the need to relapse into drinking again.
I re-opened my eyes to see Theo still watching me intently.
He reached for my hand and I gave it to him. I laced our fingers together before he began to talk again.
"After I got done talking with you in the stands, I went and talked to coach, had a shower, and was about to leave and come pick you up when my phone rang."
He took his hand and began to draw invisible patterns over the back of my hand.
"So I answered it not even bothering to check and see who it was. Unfortunately for me it was my father."
Shock ran through my veins when he said this. Theo told me all about his family and his father yesterday an how they never contact one another. I couldn't tell how he felt about this since he kept his eyes glued to my hand.
"He invited me to a banquet at the house for the company. It's gonna be around Christmas and he wants me to come." He said the last bit angrily.
"That doesn't seem so bad."
"Oh I haven't told you the full story yet."
His facial expression gave off an angry vibe before he looked into my eyes and cooled down. One side of his mouth shifted up in a manner of keeping the spirits up, but I knew anything dealing with Theo's family was touchy so I was just going to give him my utmost support.
"These parties are really just a big show
for my family to prove how much of a family man my father is. Apparently it helps a lot with business. I immediately told him I wasn't going to attend that big lie of a party and thy seemed to shock him. Only for a few seconds unfortunately. After a lot of yelling he threatened to take away the car, the money, everything, but I didn't mind. I was willing to let those things go. I'd still have my scholarship, with a meal plan paid for and I could move into a dorm."
My eyebrows seemed to lift on their own at the last few words without my knowing.
"I'd miss you terribly, but I'd do anything to detach myself from my father's dictator-ish ways."
"Don't worry about me. This time is about you. Go on. I'm listening." I told him.
That made him smile and the thought that something so simple made him happy made me grin gleefully. Then I the reason of our conversation and toned down my Cheshire Cattiness.
Theo cleared his throat and continued on. "But when he got it through his thick skull that I didn't care if he took everything, he threatened to go to the dean and my coach and "work things out." Which in my dad's words clearly means no good. That man has more power that he'd ever let on. He has the ability to bring down major companies let alone his son's academic and athletic career. So in the end I agreed to go. I'd rather spend a few days with my estranged family and a bunch of corporate suck-ups than lose years of my own hard work and dedication. I was extremely stressed out and overheard that some of the guys from the team were drinking and I sort of just tagged along. Then I got here and you know the rest." He closed his eyes like he was disappointed in himself and let out a sigh. "By the way, Mya, I really am sorry I left you waiting for hours. I was foolish and I promise to make it up to you."
I squeezed his hand in an attempt to give him comfort before lifting my eyes up to his again.
"Don't worry about it. I was just glad to know you were okay. I'm sorry your dad is such a jerk." I said.
"No matter what you say I'll make up for it, but no need to worry about me, princess." He said as he brushed a hand through my hair.
"What can I do?" I wanted to do nothing but lend a helping hand.
"Nothing. Just stay the way you are and stop worrying about me as much. I know I'm as lovable as can be, but focus on you, okay?" He asked before leaning over and kissing my temple.
"Fine." I laughed. "But seriously, Theo, if there's anything I can do let me know."
"Okay, Mya. I got it, but for now can we please just go back to sleep?" He asked before he pulled me closer and let his eyes shutter shut.
As we were laying there in a perfect silence I couldn't help but have one question looming in my mind.
What were me and Theo to each other??
