"Man that's crazy" Chris pointed to this woman's pants who were the exact same skin tone as her.
"Bruh dat shit is not cute" I shook my head, disgusted.
"Looking like a big ass bowl of mashed potatoes" Chris muttered as we walked by her.
We was in Walmart pickin' up a few thangs, since Cha and da' girls was comin' to stay wit me for a few days.
"You think Kay Kay would like dis?" Chris held up a my little pony blanket.
"Shit she might" I dropped it in the cart.
After grabbing things for Chay and Noonie, we headed ta' check out.
"Aye is dat Charisma?" Chris pointed.
I glanced at her, and I guess she heard Chris, because her and her friend Kai, both turned around and looked at us.
She scowled and turned back around. Kai rolled her eyes and did the same.
"Her friend bad tho" Chris licked his lips.
"She wouldn't want ya high yella' ass" I shook my head.
"On some real shit doe, you need to talk to Charisma. It's been a month and you still haven't told her why you kicked her out" Chris said, still not taking his attention off Kai.
He was right, I was just stubborn as hell.
"Forget all dat" I shrugged and moved the basket up.
I watched Charisma as they checked their stuff out and headed out. Her outfit was cold as hell.
She had on some ripped jeans, them concord 11s and a Jordan shirt. I can't even lie, she could dress.
I sighed. I guess I really do need to talk to her.
"Aye here" I handed Chris my card and He nodded. I jogged our the store, to see Charisma and Kai heading to Kai's car.
"Charisma!" I yelled out.
She froze for a few seconds, before continuing to the car. Kai told her something and she sighed and turned and looked me in the eye.
I walked da rest of the way to her, and she folded her arms across her chest.
"What" She spat.

"Charisma can we talk" I muttered.
She looked around and back at Kai, who was talking to Chris. She rolled her eyes and looked back at me.
"Speak"
"I ain't no dog na'." I joked,
She didn't even crack a smile.
"Can we go to ma' car?" I asked.
She stared at me, contemplating. Before she finally agreed.
I watched her walk in front of me. Those jeans hugged that a- let me stop.
I opened the door for her and she got in the passenger seat and quickly shut it herself.
"Ok den" I mumbled walking around.
"You have five minutes" She glared.
I wasn't use to this Charisma, normally she was so sweet. She smiled all the time, in spite of her situation.
"Okay so first off Im sorry" I glanced at her.
She still had a blank face.
I sighed. "I really am, I'm sorry for kissing you, but Charisma I like you-"
"If you liked me you wouldn't have kicked me out. Continue" She hissed.
"I do like you, and It scared me a lil, cause Aug don't like nobody. Da last relationship I was in, let's just say it wasn't shit."
"What make you think Im like the last one?" She raised an eyebrow.
"If you would quit interruptin' me, then maybe I ca' explain" I snapped.
"K" She rolled her eyes.
"I have trust issues when It comes to women. When I was twenty my ex, was a gold diggin' ass bitch. I gave her everything she asked for, because she seemed like she deserved the world. She was so sweet and caring, but then I notice she started gettin' demanding and shit. I didn't pay any attention 'cause I loved dat girl. So on the day I was gone propose to her.
I had everything set up downstairs, I thought she was taking a nap. I walk into the room and this bitch sucking a random nigga dick. But turns out he wasn't random. They had been sneaking and seein' eachother
I cussed Diamond out and beat dat dumb nigga ass. I threw all her shit out and she cried and tried to beg to come back. I shut the door and to' up da whole house after dat."

I noticed her face softened a lah' bit.
I continued. "I just shut down for like 3 weeks, barely eatin', just smokin' and drinkin' all my problems away, and my mom is a whole new different story man" I wiped my hands down my face.
"August, I'd never hurt you okay?" She spoke softly.
"I'm sorry" I sighed.
"It's fine" She touched my face. "Just don't do it again" She smiled at me.
"Yeah I won't, you mean as hell" I chuckled.
"And you ain't?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Point" I smiled at her.
She smiled and shook her head.
"You want ta come ova'?"
"So you could kick me out again" She laughed.
I stale faced her.
"To soon, to soon" She held up her hands chuckling.
I walked her back to tha' car where Chris and Kai was laughin'.
—
"Aye get dat do' fa me." August looked up from the food he was making.
"Mkay" I got up and walked to the door, opening it, I saw three little girls and a woman. The girls started looking at me funny.
One of the girls spoke up.
"Where my uncle Aug at?"
"Kay don't be rude" I believe the mom said.
August walked up. "Wazzam y'all"
"Uncle Aug!" All of them screamed and hugged him. I stepped aside and smiled at them.
"Oh y'all, dis my friend Charisma"
"Hiii"
"Ouu your names pretty"
"Is you my Uncles girlfriend?" I believe Kay said.
"Oh no honey, I'm just his friend" I smiled at her.
"Like best friends?"
"Along those lines"
"Okay quit askin' all these questions, go play or somethin'." Their mom said.
"Chandra this is Charisma, Charisma this is Chandra"
I reached out my hand to shake hers, but she pulled me into a hug.
"We don't shake hands girl" She laughed.
"Nice to meet you" I chuckled.
She went to go make sure the girls were good before she came in the kitchen
"So how did y'all meet" She asked, sitting down at the table next to me.
"Long story" I chuckled.
"I have time" She sat next to me and smiled.
—
After telling Chandra on how we met, I was in the living room playing with the girls. We were playing this game called 'Family' With their dolls.
"Ms. Charisma, you be herrr" Noonie dragged out the word.
"No she's gonna be this one" Kay Kay said, holding up a doll with a poofy dress.
"If y'all don't just let her pick who she wanna be" Chay said, setting up the dollhouse.
"Who do you wanna be?" Noonie and Kay Kay looked at me.
"Ummm" I looked at all the dolls they had. Aug must surely spoil them.
"I'll be her" I picked up a doll off the ground.
We all started playing and pretty soon it was time for them to get ready for bed.
"They had yo ass playin' for hours" August chuckled.
"Not funny" I yawned.
"Po' baybeh tired" August teased.
"Bye" I chuckled and headed towards the door.
He quickly pulled my arms back and hugged me. Hugging him back I smiled.
"You could stay the night" He muttered on the top of my head.
"It's good August, I'll see you tomorrow" I looked up at him.
"Bye Charisma"
"Adios" I smiled at him.
I got in the car and drove home.
"He swear he so creative turned a toothbrush to a knife" I rapped along to 21 Savage's asmr
—
Pretty soon I pulled into the complex and killed the engine. I got on the elevator and rode up. Not really thinking about it I went into my apartment.
I froze when I heard my name being called.
"Charisma"
I turned around and all the blood drained out of my face.
"M-mom"

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.

World Step (Rewrite)
This is a rewrite of my story World Step. Though, in reality, this is my first serious draft. The shadows grow deeper on the planet of Whorrl even as a dark, and ancient ritual takes place within the depths of The Abyssal Mouth—a chasm of both fortune and calamity. The story follows Quintin, a Grandmaster Martial Artist from Earth, as unforeseen elements conspire against him from the depths of space. *No Harem *Strong MC, but by no means does he go through enemies without injury or at least learning something. *Throw on [Horror], and possibly [Psychological] elements. *Dark Fantasy with some [Grimdark] leanings. Notes: this will be a place where I endeavor to rewrite and fix issues. With that in mind, expect revisions, edits, and other things of that nature.
