Itto was packing his bags while his gang members tried to get a proper explanation from him.
" Boss you can't just leave us like that! the gang will fall apart if you don't lead us"
"relax I'll only be gone for a few weeks, and besides i never led you like a war general or something, you've always had your free will. But if you really need a leader for guidance you should talk to Kuki Shinobu, and she'll get you out of jail if you mess up, of course getting you out of jail legally."

" don't worry she'll not interfere as long as you don't get into jail" "oh and make sure you take care of granny oni" with that Itto finished packing his bags and went to say goodbye to granny.

walking towards granny oni's room, Itto was feeling very guilty for leaving his family unprotected for his selfish reasons, the gang members where like siblings to him, and who would stay and talk to granny oni at night to liven her mood? he started second guessing his decision to go out on the adventure but his thoughts where cut off by a kind hearted old lady.
"Are you second guessing yourself Itto?" she said smiling like the god damn ray of sunshine she is.
" granny? oh n-no I'm not" he said hesitantly while gritting his teeth
" boy, you think I can't read the expressions of the youngling I raised when he was a little child?" she mentioned still smiling.
" how are you not mad at me for leaving you for my selfish reasons?" he asked with guilt in his eyes.

"everyone should have their freedom, your sense of responsibility towards protecting the family hasn't allowed you to go out and adventure the world like you wanted to" she concluded looking at her little oni like every mother looks at her son with love and pride.
".... can you promise me to be safe while I'm gone?"
"okay dear, if that makes you at ease then I promise to stay safe while you're gone" and with that said the granny had a smile brighter than the sun, it was enough to make Itto start crying in her arms just like when he was a little kid.
after a few hours Itto took off to his adventure to find Sara, saying goodbye to his family broke his heart, but he had to.
