𝙒𝙀 𝙒𝙀𝙉𝙏 𝘽𝘼𝘾𝙆 to the fighting ring, knowing that Luther had another match today. We snuck in to see Luther at the same place as any fight, hunched over after taking a few fake blows. The three of us sat near the bottom, peering between the gates.
"Oh hey, Lights Out Lubbock." Vanya and Five stared at me. "What? I was here for like a year." We turned our attention back to the fight. Luther gave the normal glance to Jack, who nodded for Luther to finish the fight and make a "comeback." He began his return, landing several blows on his opponent. Suddenly, he froze. I don't know what was going through his head, but when he came to, he seemed sadder? Something about him did not seem right.
Lubbock took this moment to attack. He punched Luther over and over, but he had yet to retaliate. He stood there like a human punching bag.
"What?" I could hear Mr. Ruby mutter. He had obviously bet a lot of money on this one. "Look, he's pummeling him." I looked at Luther, who was still out of it. "Hit me again," I heard him say. "What the hell is happening to him?" I asked. Lubbock dragged Luther and threw him aside easily. "Oh, my god, Luther."
"Why isn't he fighting back?"
Luther groaned in pain. There were so many overlapping, angry shouts going on. "Hit me again!" He punched him. "Again, hit me!" Luther shouted.
"Luther, are you crazy? Just hit him!" Five turned to me. "Can't you help?" I shook my head. "It's not like I can randomly knockout Lubbock. And even if I can get him to stumble, Luther doesn't seem to want to fight back."
"Hit me. I wanna feel pain. I wanna feel all the pain," Luther began. "Give me everything you got!" Luther shouted. Growling, Lubbock took one last look at him. Pulling his hand back, he delivered a hard uppercut. Luther was sent flying backwards. He landed on his back on the ground. He was completely knocked out.
The room became silent. It was filled once again by displeased viewers. Shouts and boos were heard, angry yells and words. I saw Mr. Ruby pushing his way through the crowd. "Get outta my way." We watched Luther on the ground. "Shit. Luther."

"Why didn't he fight back?"
His eyes opened slightly and he smiled softly at the roof before becoming complete knocked out again.

𝙁𝙄𝙑𝙀 𝘼𝙉𝘿 𝙄 waited by the car outside. We left Vanya to take care of Luther, though I insisted on helping. Vanya said she had it, and that she was hoping to talk more.
"Wanna tell me any more about living here?" He asked me. "I don't know, ever since I started working at Jack's, nothing was really exciting. It was the same routine, wake up, explore the same city, watch Luther fight, sometimes help him, sit at the Carousel for the rest of the day." He leaned back. "And Maria?" I sighed. "This again? Look, she's cool, all right? I hang out with her a lot, she was one of the things keeping me sane."
"Hey," he started, trying to change the subject, "How did you find Diego? I mean, while we were at D.S. Umbrella. Because, I've seen you appear in places, never end up in someone else's shadow."
"Training. Lots and lots of training. Being in a coma for 16 years makes you rusty, so I've been working on building up my powers. The thing I did on Diego was finding his force and appearing in his shadow," I explained. "Here, let me demonstrate." I closed my eyes and found Five's shadow force, though it was easy considering he was right next to me. Falling back, I reappeared behind him in his shadow. He flinched at my sudden presence. "There," I whispered in his ear and backed away.
He cleared his throat. "And your new ability. You really can see dead people?" He asked. "Yeah. I think it has something to do with my connection to the shadow forces. I've gotten surprisingly good at summoning the dead. I guess years of pulling at life really helps."
"Can you like, conjure Ben? Just, now?" Five asked. "Sure? Hopefully he isn't too busy with whatever he and Klaus have going on." I held my hands out and concentrated.
"(Y/N)?"
"There. Ben's standing right here," I put my foot by Ben's. He waved at me. "What do you nee-"
He paused. "Wait," Ben looked between us, "He's here? You guys are back?" Ben gasped. "What?" I asked. "You guys are back together!! Holy shit, do you know how long I've been waiting for this? It's almost been like, 3 whole years. I can't believe my ship has finally come back together!! I can't believe Five is here. How long has he been back? And why didn't you tell me this?"

"I didn't think I had to tell you everything right away," I shrugged. "Not tell me? You guys are like, one of the reasons I haven't crossed over yet." I sighed. "You aren't going to heaven because of us? Ben, sweetie-"
"No, no. It's fine. Just, oh my god I can't believe this is happening!!" Five tapped my shoulder. "What's he saying?" I rolled my eyes. "Talking about shipping us again." Five sighed.
"I still don't understand what that means."
"Well it means-"
Ben shushed me. "I think it's better he doesn't know for now." I smiled at him.
"I guess you're uh, free to go now, Ben," I said. He shook his head. "I'm gonna stay here for now." He took a seat on the floor. "Um, ok then."
"So is that the extent of your powers?" Five asked. "I mean, seeing Ben." I shrugged. "Not really. I can see other dead people, but I'm not the best at conjuring them physically." He nodded. We stared at each other for a couple more seconds.
"Kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss!"
Ben still sat on the floor, watching us intently. "Ok, seriously, Ben. I might send you away-"
"No, no, no, no, please don't! Can I just like, I don't know, tag along for a little bit?" I sighed. "Do you really want this to happen that bad?" He nodded excitedly. "What's he saying, again?" I turned to Five. "Look, just-"
I stopped and leaned in. Screw it. Five was shocked at the sudden kiss, but accepted it nonetheless. He brought his hand up to cup my cheek, his thumb running along the curve of my cheekbone. I nestled into his hand, feeling his warmth seep into mine. It was soft, and not too rushed. I heard squealing from the ground and pulled away, letting my forehead rest against Five's.
"What was that for?" I shook my head and chuckled. "It was for my OTP, okay? Wait, he can't hear me, never mind." I giggled. "It was for Ben. Speaking of him, I think you can go away now," I said, turning to him. He stood back up reluctantly. "Fine, fine. I'll go. See ya guys later!"
I turned back to Five.
"Well that certainly was, something."
Our conversation was interrupted by a breaking sound. I looked up to see that Luther had punched a hole in the wall. I snorted. "Looks like you're having fun!" The door opened and Vanya stormed out. "Well that clearly went well. You ready to go?" Five asked. "I'm going back to the farm," she responded, making her way to the car.
"Vanya! Wait, you can't just leave now," I shouted, going after her. "Remember, we need to stick together," Five reminded. "Oh, why, so I don't end the world again?"
"Oh god," I muttered. Five sighed.
"Stupid..."
"Were you even gonna tell me?" She asked. I started to speak but Five interrupted. "You know what? In our defense, no. All right?" I hit his shoulder. "Excuse me, not 'our' defense. Your defense. I was attempting to tell you earlier in the diner, seeing as we shouldn't keep anything from you, but this one interrupted me."
"And can you blame me? When you...you get angry, shit blows up."
"Great. Are there any other family secrets you failed to mention?" I snorted again. "A fuck ton."
"A boatload, Vanya," Five started, "Which we don't have the luxury of sharing-"
But Vanya was already getting in the car. Five sighed, walking up to the window and knocking on the glass. Slowly, and quite precariously, she rolled down the window. "The clock is ticking on doomsday. Just tell me that when I need you, you'll be ready." She looked down. "I can't help you, guys. I don't even know who I am," she said. "You're our sister," I stated. She had started the engine. "And a member of the Umbrella Academy. Like it or not, that's who you are."
"Look, that's who I was, ok? New timeline, new me," she replied. "No, that's not how it work-"
But she had already driven away, leaving me and Five alone on the street. We looked back up at the hole in the wall to see Luther peeking through. He flipped Five off. Five sighed.
"Wonder if it's too late to be un-adopted."
