Tails explained his plan in great detail in front of Sonic and Eggman, who listened through a screen. As Sonic kept on asking what he is supposed to do, explained in a simpler English, Eggman's smile only widened the more Miles told.

"Well well, if you are interested, you could be a part of my Eggman Empire Miles, your intelligence would become useful" He ruffed the end of his mustache "You could work as my mechanic! And you will be paid with great amount-"

"Oh, so you still haven't given up on the whole Eggman Empire yiddy yadda?" Sonic questioned, hands on his hips and a smirk on his lips.

Eggman mumbled something under his breath as an angermark appeared on his head.

"Lovely Doctor, but I have to decline. I am trying to get out of my mess, not making it worse" Tails stated, turning back to Sonic. Who crossed his arms and smiled happily.

"Let's bring this plan to life" Sonic slammed his fist into his right hand, flashing a grin.

Sonic speeds up a great amount as he runs around in yet another torn down base of Eggman. Located in a mountain, a cave covered with metal plates, along with the cave's rocks and few crystals here and there. It was built up to look like an industry, but the plan failed and was destroyed and laid down for many years ago.

Also known as the Scrambled Egg Zone.

Sonic turns corners and dashes on full speed throughout the hallways in the base, all kinds of scrap just tossed all over the place, but besides that, he is making sure everything is according to plan.

As the camera moves to the other side of the mountain and in towards the main control room. Miles and the Doctor is making sure all programs are up and running.

"Sonic, I will run a system update, which will cause the entirety of the lair to shut down. Watch out for any disturbances." Tails called to the blue blur through a communicator. Designed by the fox himself. A small object which rests in your ear with the size of a thumb.

"Alright Tails" Sonic said calmly, shrugging it off as he continued running.

"Restarting now" Tails pressed a yellow button, causing all lights to shut off immediately, all robots that may have been active stopped dead in their tracks and lowered their heads and their eyes shut off.

Seconds later, a loud humming told the fox and Eggman that the system turned on again.

"System restart complete" A robotic voice along with computer text on a screen said. The small rectangle after the text blinked before allowing the system to start anew.

The humming got louder as the gigantic boss room in through the windows lit up by the lights being flickered on. The hallways Sonic is running in followed.

He smiled "Nice"

Eggman cracked his fingers, showing them in front of himself. "Let's begin that plan of yours foxy"

Sonic was handed items that he "glued" around on the walls, floors and ceilings all around the base. Tails instructed him exactly where to place them through his communication device, also with the help of a GoPro that Sonic has on his head. Eggman is busy with transferring programs over to this old broken down base.

The objects that Sonic got handed are some cameras, some designed for the traps they are setting up and some are disturbance signals. The disturbance signals are small objects that can prevent communication through devices like phones, communicators and so on. They will only shut down.

"Okie dokie, all set Tails" Sonic pushed the last camera device onto the wall. "Good job hedgie~ You can come back to the program room now"

And with that said, Sonic dashed down the hallways all the way up to the room Tails referred to. But not without getting lost a few times though. This base is pretty big.

"Aaaaalrighty, The hedgehog has arrive-" Holding the 'e' sound, Sonic looked around the room to see it empty. "eeee... Tails- you better not be hiding again!" Sonic growled, crossing his arms and tapping his foot impatiently.

"He must have done that quite a lot recently if you are this nervous" Eggman chuckled under his breath, turning his nanitied body to look at him.

"Oh shut up you oversized egg" Sonic showed his balled up fist to Eggman. Making angermarks pop over his egg shaped head.

"Relax Sonic, I am outside" His voice faint, but Sonic managed to hear it coming from the balcony door. He walked over to them as they slid open like an elevator door. To reveal a fox leaning over the balcony railing, his tails swishing softly up and down behind him.

"Ah, you are chilling out here huh?" Sonic asked with a smile, walking over to him, his quills bouncing with every step.

Tails chuckled softly. "You could say that"

Sonic leaned over the railing beside him, only to see Tails holding a cigarette between his index- and middle finger, smoke dancing its way out of the tip.

"You really are smoking..?" Sonic asked, leaning his chin onto his palm, his arm leaning on the railing.

"You should be happy that I do, it makes me calm down from my insanity. Even I can't stay psycho for so long~" Tails eyed Sonic without moving his head. Taking another draw from the cigarette.

But Sonic snatched away the cigarette from his fingers. Tails made a face, turning his head to Sonic and blew the smoke in his face. Causing Sonic to cough and wave his hand in front of his face, hoping it would lift the smoke. The fox only chuckled at the scene, flipping his tails up.

"Ha-ha" Sonic held a grumpy face as he stepped on the cigarette. "Aw, you could have tried it though"

"Heh, what about... no" Sonic simply referred.

Tails only shrugged it off. "Whatever" As he looked out from the mountain.

The cold freezing air hitting them like spikes. Still, they stayed at least a meter from each other. The silence between them says a lot. None of them knows how this plan is going to go, neither what any of them think about the situation. Sonic is clueless on Tails heart. His heart doesn't beat over him. To know that Tails was his past boyfriend and that he loved him with all of his heart- crushes him from within.

Because he doesn't love him now.

"I am sorry" Sonic's head popped up, turning to look at Tails with a surprised expression. His heart all of a sudden jumped up to his throat, making him unable to talk, but he could feel something beating in his chest. Not love, happiness, worry nor sadness.

But Hope.

Sadly, he didn't have the time to ask why.

Tails pushed himself gently away from the railings and held a finger into his ear where his device is. "Our guests have arrived"

"Are you positive that they are here?" Vector looks down to Rotor who holds an ipad, showing a blinking blue dot on a blueprint kind of map.

"Positive, but exactly where in this building, I am unsure of" He stated. Soldiers from G.U.N followed up behind them, holding their weapons ready and turning heads for any upcoming dangers.

"The dot is moving" Vector said, catching Rotor's immediate attention. "Wait, it's coming this exact way-"

A blue blur screech to a halt right in front of them "Yo gentlemen! Looking for me?" Holding his hand up to his head like a salute.

"Grab him!" Vector shouted as a command, before Sonic dashed back the way he came from. "Wait! Come back!" Rotor screamed after them, trying to keep up. 'Those idiots are running straight into a trap!'

And the walrus is correct.

Bullets shot the floor where he previously stepped, they aimed out after him at incredible speeds, but he is way faster than them, avoiding them like it's childsplay. Sonic searched over his quills for the tracker device that Rotor must have placed on him for awhile ago and placed it on the ground before dashing further through the hallway.

A hologram of Sonic lit up the room straight afterwards.

"Want to catch me? I am right here!" Hologram Sonic opened his arms, smirking. "Catch him now!" Vector shouted with anger in his voice as the soldiers outran him to catch the hedgehog.

But sorry for them, they fell through a hole exactly where Hologram Sonic is standing. "Hm" He looked down the hole. "What did you not understand with 'catch me'?" He scratched his forehead with his finger.

At least ten soldiers fell down, a small slide ride to the outside, but from there they got locked off from the base, with a shield covering half of the mountain top.

"10 soldiers down~" Tails leaned against the control table, looking onto the screen that shows off all the different locations in the base. "A cave full of mysteries, a treasure bigger than diamonds and gold, waiting on the other side" Miles smirked. "What are you waiting for gentlemen? Come and get me~"

Vector avoided the trap as well as the rest of the soldiers. Watching the Hologram that shows Sonic, he poked his tongue towards the crocodile, striking a goofy poses as he did. Vector anger boiled as he picked up his gun and shot the hologram dead in the eye. "I will find you and return your sorry ass to jail, Sonic the Hedgehog"

"Sheesh, harsh" Sonic heard Vector's words through his communicator. He continued racing down the hallways, slowing down a few times and looked over his shoulder to make sure if the soldiers could keep up. As he reached his next destination, he turned a sharp corner and held a hand over his ear where his communication device is placed and kept on running.

The device fell out in Sonic's hand, but he only placed it back in afterwards.

As the soldiers reached up at the same place as Sonic... Their weapons got snatched away from them, as well as some of the men. A giant magnet wall sucked them to itself. "Whoops, sorry! Forgot to tell ya!" He raised a hand to his mouth and shouted back to them. Sonic acted all silly around dangerous times- but then again:

He is the hedgehog we know and love.

"Sonic hasn't changed at all haven't he?" Eggman rubbed his mustache as he looked on the camera that recorded Sonic's behaviour. "It matters not, I still have a job to finish" A smirk crept over his face, his glasses reflecting his evil thoughts. "Miles isn't the only one with a plan~"

So far, Sonic has lead roughly over half of the soldiers into laser traps, places where they get their feet stuck in gooey stuff, some gets trapped in huge bubbles that bounces around the room and others slipped and fell, then rushed down slides to the outside.

But Vector is one hard crocodile to get out of the water.

He has not fallen into one single trap, yet. Sonic feels spooked by his actions, that he saw how quick he can keep up to him as well.

Sonic and his baits made it to the boss room.

"Jeesh- You really needs to slow down Vect- oopff!" As usual, Sonic didn't really pay attention to where he ran as he looked back to see Vector. Therefore, he slipped on some slimy stuff and crashed into a wall which he was supposed to avoid.

Tails made a face as Sonic crashed face first into the wall, slowly gliding down with a grunt. He couldn't resist in chuckling over Sonic's stupidness, but at the same time feel guilty. Because now he is surrounded by Vector, Rotor AND the soldiers. "Oh sweet chaos- what do I do now...? Or maybe... this is an opportunity..." Tails mumbled to himself.

"You are surrounded Sonic, get up!"

"Jeesh, that's pretty uncool of ya" He said with an unpleasant tone as he got dragged up from the floor by his feet by two soldiers.

"Yes, so is crashing face first into a wall in front of you" Sonic grunted at the comment, but Vector only laughed. "Let's talk business, if you tell me where Miles is, I'll let you go with a warning" Vector folded his arms.

"And if I don't" Sonic smirked.

"Then you'll get a front row ticket to Miles' execution" The smirk got quickly wiped off from Sonic's face.

"What...?" Sonic is confused but horrified. "Execution...?"

"That's right hedgehog. The president have decided together with G.U.N and the local Police. Miles will have a public execution the moment we catch him. He have no mercy on us, we will have no mercy on him" Vector threw out his arm in a dramatic swing, his body trembling.

"And you Sonic, will be our bait to catch him. If you won't tell us where he is, he will come to get you" Vector laughed. 'Dang, this isn't childsplay...'

As Vector clutched his stomach from all the laughing, one specific person caught Sonic's attention. Rotor has an expression that he is unable to read, which doesn't comfort him at all.

'Rotor is living in his own world. Something's fishy here...'

"Speaking of which, you got something that is mine" A door opened to the boss room where they are, and none other than Tails walked out. "Let him go, and I'll go easy on ya~"

"No way in hell! Charge!" Vector pointed towards Miles. As he said that, Tails pressed a button in his hand. Some kind of motor purred as the soldiers' weapons hot dragged up from their hands. Some of the men even flew up with their weapons, not wanting to let go of them.

"Those magnets, I swear to Chaos!" Vector growled of anger as he turned to face Tails.

"Sorry Vector, you are on my territory. No weapons allowed" Tails smirked as he waved a finger as in saying 'no no'. This only ticked the crocodile more off.

"No matter, charge now!" The soldiers did not hesitate, they shot themselves forward, but that did not matter to Miles. Because he is confident enough as it is.

"No weapons, no murder- oh well, I can still fight" He smirked as he spinned his tails around.

Grabbing the first soldier he sees by the arm, he spun him around and threw him into his fellow soldiers, they tumbled over like canes. "Strike!"

The happiness didn't find place for too long, as a soldier without a helmet grabbed him by his tails, attempting to throw him against the ground. Tails flinched by the touch. "You did. Not. Just. Touch. My. Tails!" Miles growled. Suddenly a tear of regret fell down his face. A single 360° spin was all it took to shake the soldier off and slam him into the wall.

Two more people threw themselves on the fox, he got held down by both arms, legs and tails. A quite funny position really, with one soldier over one of his arms, legs and tails- while the other on his other pair.

"How lovely, but I am taken" Both of them looked quite confused as he said so, before a ball of blue knocked them over.

"Thanks love~" Sonic just ignored him and spinned into the next pair of soldiers who came running with battlecries. "Rude..."

Sonic managed to break out of the grip of the soldiers who held him... quite easily.

"So, do you guys enjoy this mission so far or?" Sonic asked as he balanced on every head he could find before jumping to the next. They try their best on hitting or snatching the hedgehog as he came by, but no success so far.

He is just WAY too fast.

As both Sonic and Tails played around, Rotor has his mind in the clouds. Not paying attention at all. This however, catched Sonic's attention as he tackled a soldier to the ground. Face first of course.

He didn't have much time to think about it sadly, a group of men came running his way, startling him slightly, before dashing off in the opposite direction.

In the control room, Eggman is watching the whole scene with a wicked grin. "This is getting interesting. I'll let Miles and Sonic get rid of the peasants before I step in with my part" The doctor leaned back in his chair, hands clasped together

"Ta- Miles! We need to get these people over with before they get over with us!"

"What you said makes no sense, but I got what you mean!" The fox spinned his tails to fly up in the air and down to grab Sonic.

"I got a plan, but I can't explain it directly to you" Tails said as he reached higher ground, hoping Sonic listened. He thought for a second, before he nodded.

"So, I thought we should do things your way for once" Miles smiled as he began spinning around. Sonic flashed his signature grin. "Let's wing it!"

The fox let go of the hedgehog, who curled into a ball of blue.

He crashed to the ground with an incredible force, making the floor crumble from the impact. Soldiers got startled when they saw the action, looking after Sonic. They huffed and puffed from running around so much, besides wearing so much armor makes the hunt ten times worse.

"Weren't you guys here to catch me? Well here I am!" As he spinned around one man, making small spirals appear into his eyes as he tried to regain his balance.

Other men followed him and attempts to grab Sonic, but without any luck.

As Sonic acts as a decoy, Tails had already picked up one of his small inventions and placed them all on the wall while spinning his tails to keep him airborne. 'Since I can't use any of my other methods because of Sonic's stupid rule, I'll have to think differently'

He waited and waited for the right moment to come, almost every soldier in position... almost there... now!

Tails pressed the button in his hand and the small devices (which basically just looks like buttons) started glowing up and shooting weird looking bullets where their pointer is, the soldiers who runs by one of their pointers, gets shot and their body slowly freeze to ice.

Screams echoes around in the cylinder like room as Sonic is trying to avoid the weapons as best as he can. 'One hit and I'll turn into a frozen hedgeicle!'

Sonic ducked under a blue laser beam as it shot right in front of his eyes, prevented getting hit, but the soldier right next to him... not so much.

By zig-zagging around the room, jumping up and spin-dashing like a fly, Sonic finally managed to create a map in his head to where the laser beams is placed. And by that, started making his way smoothly through the crowds of bottled up ice-men to reach Tails.

Just then, a familiar face rose from behind Tails. His anger indescribable, his fists clenched so hard that you could see his scales underneath his white gloves. "Tails! Behind you!" Sonic reached out his hand in desperation as if he could grab the fox before something terrible happened.

Miles turned his body around and widened his eyes in shock as he sees a sharp knife coming straight for him. He managed to grab Vector's wrist just as he tumbled over from the weight of the crocodile. Tails' body slammed against the ground, causing his head to shutdown for a second, just as realizing the situation he is in.

"You may be a smartass, but you aren't very strong! This will be a piece of cake!" Vector shouted in triumph. Like he has already won.

But Vector has changed.

His eyes has shrunken, smile wide and his body language tells something else than the will to catch-

But the will to kill.

Vector has gained the exact same expression as Tails when he has the upper hand.

Tails' expression changed as well. He have never seen himself in the mirror before. 'Is this... how I look like? Is this... what people see, is this what I have become...?'
