《STAY DOWN |2020|》Forty Four.

I was sitting outside of a coffee shop, waiting for Harmony to pull up. Harmony was hesitant about meeting up with me, but she eventually agreed to it. I'm confident that I can get the truth out of her before East's hearing. It's a MUST.
"Genesis" I heard somebody say.
I looked up from my phone and seen Harmony standing in front of my table.
I put on a fake smile then greeted her. "Hey Harmony, I ordered you a mocha latte. I hope that's okay."
Harmony was visibly nervous, but I was trying my best to make her feel comfortable.
"That's fine. So, what's up?" She asked as she sat down.
"I just wanted to clear the air between us. I want you to know that I have no issue with you. You couldn't have known that Lola was going to tell on East."
Tears instantly filled Harmony's eyes at the mention of Lola's name.
"I'm sorry, I just can't believe she's dead. She was one of my closest friends, and I was gonna be Josiah's godmother" Harmony said.
The name "Josiah" threw me off for a moment, but I quickly realized that she was talking about Lola and East's son.
"Her death was terrible and unfortunate. I wonder who killed her because East's people knew not to touch her. Only a bold muthafucka would go against East's rules."
Harmony cleared her throat then sipped her latte. It was obvious that she was hiding something.
"People probably think that they can disobey him because he's in jail. I hope East deals with them accordingly. Lola wasn't a saint, but she didn't deserve to die.
"Agreed, the baby didn't deserve to die either. It's no secret that I disliked Lola, but nobody deserves to die."
"You two would've eventually gotten along really well. Lola only acted that way towards you because she was still in love with East. Those two had history behind them. She would've gotten over that history though. I'm sure of it" Harmony said.

"Let's cut the bullshit, shall we?"
Harmony knitted her eyebrows in confusion. "What do you mean?" She asked.
"You know what I mean. YOU know who killed Lola. In fact, I'm pretty sure you're fucking the man that killed her. Or did you do it yourself? Did you kill your own bestfriend to protect an ain't shit ass nigga that dogs you out every chance he gets? I'm sure Lola would've NEVER done that to you. She was a lot of things, but disloyal wasn't one of them. She had courage unlike you."
Harmony just sat there with tears running down her face. That confirmed what I already knew. She didn't even bother defending herself because she knew that I was right.
"You have a chance to do the right thing. I'm sure you know that East's sentencing hearing is coming up. Either way I'm going to find out the truth. I will never stop fighting for my man's freedom. I can be VERY brutal when it comes to the people that I love."
"I'll be graduating college with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice pretty soon. My plans were to go to law school afterwards, but I can also become a detective. I don't care if it takes five years, my man will be free. I'll become a detective and hunt you and Zander all the way down. I'll have you both arrested and put in jail for LIFE. Your son will have no parents. Miss Helen is getting old, and she won't be able to take care of him very long. Anyways, we can do this the easy way or the hard way. The choice is yours."
I flashed a small smile then walked off to my car. Sometimes you gotta give a bitch something to think about.
"YOU DID WHAT!? GEN, ARE YOU CRAZY? WHAT IF SHE TELLS ZANDER?" Kelis shouted.

"You were supposed to work your way into it Gen" Sammy said.
"WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THAT! I DID WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE!"
"That was really careless of you Genesis. What if Zander tries to kill you? East is not here to protect you and Kaiser" Kelis said.
"I can protect myself, and I can protect Kaiser. If Harmony knows what's good for her, she'll cooperate."
Sammy sighed then shook her head. "I'm going to stay here with you for a few days. You and Kaiser can't be here alone anymore" she said.
"That was so stupid of you Genesis. I understand that you want East home, but you can't be out here moving recklessly. We were supposed to play it smart, and you ruined that. I'm almost certain that Harmony is going to tell Zander. Zander will either panic and leave the country, or he'll kill you. You have people on this earth that love and care about you so much. You can't put your life at risk like that. East would be DEVASTATED if he lost you and another child" Kelis said.
Kelis had a point, but I was confident in the decision that I made. I'm confident that Harmony will do what needs to be done.
"Did Genesis tell you about her theory?" Kareem asked.
I nodded, "she did. What do you think about it?"
"I don't know man. I've been seeing changes in Zander since you've been gone. He seems disconnected from the family and the crew now. He could be going through something though" Kareem said.
"I've been doing some thinking, and Genesis' theory does makes sense. I just don't wanna believe that Zander would do some shit like this."
"I don't wanna believe it either bro" Kareem said.
I didn't wanna believe Genesis' theory at first because Zander has been my friend for years. I love that nigga like a brother, and it'll fuck me up if I find out that he crossed me. The more I think about it, the more Genesis' theory starts making sense. Like she said, the motive is definitely there. He could've pinned this shit on me to save his own ass.
"Watch him closely Kareem. Don't accuse him of anything just yet though. If you watch closely enough, you're bound to catch him slipping."
Kareem nodded, "heard ju. This shit is fucked up bro. The thought of it makes me sick as fuck."
"I feel the same way cuzzo. We gotta get to the bottom of this shit though."
I hate to say it, but Zander is DEAD if I find out that he had something to do with this. Not only did he get me sent to jail, but there's a possibility that he killed my child and the mother of my child. That shit ain't flying with me. I pray to God that he's innocent.
"We will get to the bottom of it. You know I got you" Kareem said.
I nodded, "you been watching Gen?"
"Yeah, she been chilling. That girl really loves you cuzzo. You got a good one" Kareem said.
I smiled and nodded. "I'm already knowing. That woman is my world. I have plans for her when I get out of here."
"Wright, visitation is over" a guard said.
"Keep your head up in here. You'll be home soon East. We ain't letting up" Kareem said.
"Heard ju, love you nigga."
"Love you too cuzzo" Kareem said.
I'm confident that this shit will end soon. I have faith in my family. Like Kareem said, we ain't letting up when it comes to my freedom.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)
