*Chapter 11*
"The guards are already checking the area, we need to leave!" Pixie said.
I cursed. Where is he? My heart was pounding when I looked around. I couldn't just look for him with the guards on our back, but I didn't want to leave him alone either. The guard who was about to search through the third floor already seemed to went through. And due to the second crashing sound that appeared afterwards I had my doubts that he was okay.
"Boss!" I heard someone behind me and turned around, spotting Loki. "We need to go!" He said. I looked down and sighed. He was right. I couldn't just wait. The guards will definitely find us if we wait any time longer. Collin was quick to tag along when he looked around.
"Where is he? Don't tell me he's still inside," he widened his eyes. I didn't say anything. It wasn't like I could answer his question.
We were the second to arrive since Jane and Memphis were already there. Though there was still one missing. I was getting more worried. Jane had a guilty expression on her face once our eyes met. "I'm sorry for before. It wasn't on purpose," she apologized. But I couldn't care less at the moment.
And it wasn't that bad anyway since it was kind of a warning from the next shift. No one could have guessed that they would come earlier. "Where is your little buddy," Memphis frowned but gasped when he figured my expression. "Are you kidding?!" He widened his eyes in shock.
"Pixie can you locate him?" I looked at him. He shook his head though.
"I never got the chance to mount a GPS chip in his set yesterday. I assumed that it would be fine since he was with you," he explained. I let my hand drive through my hair and sighed.
All of the sudden I heard some rustling sound from behind me and turned around when my eyes met his. I gasped and immediately rushed over to him and pressed him against me when he abruptly tensed up and whimpered.
I let go in confusion only to see his painful expression. "You're okay?" I asked worried. He just nodded and waved away.
"It's fine, let's hurry and leave. Sorry that it took so long by the way," he smiled. I pressed my lips together and decided to question it later.
"Okay, let's leave," I nodded. That was the cue for us to move to our cars and disappear. The entire car ride was quiet and I had a really strange feeling about it but not in an uncomfortable way. And that feeling didn't deceive me when we all met back at my place. "Come on we're already there," I said and opened the car that lead to the co driving seat.
He looked at me with tired eyes before he got up and almost fell on me if he hadn't caught himself. Nevertheless, I kept my mouth shut since the others were waiting for me to open the door which I did right after I supported him to the living room where he immediately made himself comfortable, leaning against me with his eyes close.
They all gathered in complete silence, waiting for me to speak up, but I bit my lips and hesitated. "I assume neither of you have found the diary, right?" I sighed with defeat in my voice. "It was a risky move from the very start. Looking for something that we had barely a prove on."

"Well, it could be that it wasn't this particular building that the diary is in," Jane started while she brought out a few paper sheets, spreading it on the table. "These seem to be others of the buildings that also happen to be in Don-Raler's property."
"I didn't know they were so expanded," Pixie huffed. "Anyway, when they have that many places where they have their office in, then there's suppose to be a main and a way bigger one. Judged by these plans, I doubt that it's any one of these."
"Wow, it could be anywhere," Collin rolled his eyes. "How sad that we don't have that much time." The warm body that seemed to fell limb on my shoulder suddenly moved as he opened his eyes.
"Crap, I passed out," he sat up and looked around as everyone's eyes fell on him. "I totally forgot something," he mumbled and pulled out a pinkish book out of his pocket. "There the diary."
I widened my eyes and snatched it out of his grasp, skimming through the pages. "Where the hell did you find it?" He rested his head on my chest and shrugged.
"The last room," he yawned. "Found it in a safe." His words were barely to understand.
"Safe? How did you manage to open it?" Collin suspiciously questioned.
"Just..." His eyes were falling close again. "Luck," he giggled. I gaped at him when his eyes changed uncomfortably. "Zaron," he whispered. "My back pocket," he pointed at his jeans. I frowned and saw some paper sticking out which I pulled out to see what it was about.
"What is this?" I wanted to ask him but, he was already off, that made me roll my eyes.
"Gimme that," Pixie took it out of my hand and quickly examined it before he looked up. "I believe," he started. "We found Don-Raler's central station."
"No fucking way," Jane gasped. "I bet we can get more money out of this."
"Guys," I interrupted. "We better keep this case for later. Right now is not the time. Pixie, find more information about the central station, could you do that?" He nodded as I turned to Memphis. "And would you read he diary? I would do that myself but there is no way in hell I could get even close to it with that guy over here," I said throwing my head back in exhaust.
"Yeah sure," he stood up to take the book from my hand while the others also stood up, ready to leave. "Don't worry about him though. I have a feeling that he's a good kid," Memphis winked before he went opening the door. "See ya," he chuckled as they all followed him out and closed the door.
I sighed and looked down. Good kid, huh? "I guess it's time to head to bed now," I muttered and got up, carrying the boy to my room where I carefully laid him on my bed. I only left to change and returned back, laying next to him as I observed his face.
He was wearing a tiny smile on his face although he was paler than usual and utterly seemed ill and exhausted. I slowly brushed the hair out of his face and sighed. And somehow I couldn't help but wonder how weird he was.

It was so difficult to understand him but I had the feeling that he would still be too unpredictable even if I could understand him. The way he acts, the way he speaks, like he was from a different word.
I wonder what his name is... I really wonder where he came from. I really wanted to understand his family. Everything about him. Why he had so many piercings, where his bruises came from and his past, just who exactly he is. But the most important thing I wanted to know was what he really wanted from me?
Why did he always stick to my side? Me being a leader is a stupid explanation. He didn't seem that low to rate people like that or to date someone for their title. But then again, it's him after all.
I sighed and tapped on his forehead. "What is really happening in there?" Does anyone even know?
With that question on my mind, my eyes were getting heavier and heavier until I fell into a deep sleep.
*
It was around two PM when I found my awareness to sit up and look around until my eyes landed on the kid next to me. He was still sleeping as already expected. Am I ever going to see him waking up before me? Probably not. But I didn't mind. Instead I used the time to get up and head to cook something.
He will definitely be hungry once he wake up. To my surprise he woke up way earlier than I thought once I suddenly felt his arms wrapping themselves around me from behind.
"You can really scare someone like that," I commented and smirked when I turned around. "Did you sleep well?" I wanted to know and stroked his hair.
"Not really but it's fine," he smiled. He should have just stayed in bed if he was too tired. "I'm too hungry anyway."
So after I finished the food and ate with him, I left to take a hot calming shower before returning to the living room where I saw the ill looking boy laying on couch with closed eyes. I slowly approached him and kneed down to be on the same height.
I sighed when he suddenly opened his eyes. "I thought you were sleeping," I said and gently caressed his cheek when he closed his eyes again. "Are you really okay?" I frowned in worry. "You never said what happened yesterday."
"Zaron," he sighed. "I need sugar." He then stopped my hand and tugged on it. "Get me candy," he whined. "And maybe some ice packs too."
"But we just ran out of candy," I pressed my lips together as he let go of my hand and sat up. "Don't overwork yourself, if you don't feel good."
"I told you I'm fine. I'm just quickly going to get something from the convenience store." He stood up and was overwhelmed from the abrupt dizziness as he caught himself before heading for the front door. How stubborn. I rolled my eyes and chased him to pull him back.
"I'm definitely not going to let you drive in this state." He refused to listen to me and tried getting rid of my grasp which seemed to be too difficult in his case that he gave up.
"I really hate you," he scowled and pushed me down on the couch. "No, I take it back. I don't hate you at all," he smiled as he was hovering me.
"Make up your mind, you idiot," I sighed and tried to push him off of me but he kept countering my attempts.
"I'm not an idiot, Zaron," he shook his head. "Hey, let's continue our conversation from yesterday, I forgot to tell you something," he suddenly changed the topic as he used his hand on my shoulder to support himself.
"What did you forget?" I cocked an eyebrow.
"Something very important," he giggled. "The introduction. It's Quentin. I totally forgot to tell you my name. So yeah, I'm Quentin," he grinned as I widened my eyes in surprise.
"Seriously now?" I forced both of us to sat up, giving him a stern look. "Quentin," I said just to feel it glide from my tongue. But I couldn't tell why it was so suddenly? Was that a sign that he trusted me enough for it? I couldn't get a proper grasp from the moment when he again abruptly changed the topic.
"Now, I want to have sex with you," he said as I slowly realized what he just said.
"Surely not," I refused and looked away.
"What?? Why not?" He questioned highly offended by my rejection. I at first didn't answer which he obviously did not accept. He forced me back to look him in the eyes and pursed his lips, waiting for a plausible explanation.
"I don't sleep with kids," I simply said.
"I'm not a kid. How many times do I need to tell you?" He severally pointed his finger on my chest and snapped. "It's piling up now, I'm already reaching my limits," he whined as I snickered at his words.
"Then use your hand 'cause I will definitely not!"
He pouted at me and took my hand, using it to grab his crotch. "C'mon touch me!" I pulled away and shook my head.
"You're just tired and frustrated from the lack of sugar. So go to bed," I demanded just before I pushed him off and carried him back to my room where I just carelessly threw him on the bed. "There, now sleep!"
"You're so mean," he whined but still did what I told him to and covered himself with the blanket. I head over to him to push his hair back and placed a soft kiss on his forehead as reparation.
"Just sleep, I'll go and get you some sweets okay?" I promised, getting a nod from him as return. I smiled at him before leaving the room and heading off.

Kai Jameson is an average everyday young man. He still lives at home with his parents after having just graduated from college. He loves playing video games and his job at the local Buy More is tolerable. Of course that all changes the moment the system arrives and the Earth is connected to the Nexus. Turns out Kai was trapped in time for about eighteen months while the people already here got a headstart on him. He lucks into being rescued by some people from a town called Donnyton and learns that if he wants to survive in this New Earth he'll have to work harder than ever before. The rewards are worth it. This is Kai's story, the moments of his triumphs, and the moments when he feels that things couldn't possibly be worse. Thanks to puddles4263 and his story The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound for the inspiration on the world this is set in. If you have never read that I highly recommend it, and if you have read it and enjoyed that story then I hope you'll enjoy mine as well. This is the first story I'm ever putting out for public consumption so reader beware on that. Any constructive criticism is always appreciated, simply leaving a half star review tells me that you're a moron who doesn't know how to use words. I'm constantly trying to improve my writing and feedback and criticism on what works and what doesn't is the only way to do that at the point I feel I am at. Last, I just marked all the content warnings because you never know where a story will take you and I don't want to exclude anything (though there will never be a harem). I am going to release 1-2 chapters per week on Fridays. Thanks and enjoy.
