《One of Us (Hitachiin Twins)》One of Us 10

Haruhi couldn't see the harm in reading the books. What the twins didn't know couldn't hurt them, and how would they find out, anyway? There were at least a hundred books in there.
All she had to do now was read.

Haruhi had sucessfully made it to her room with the journals, and without the twins catching her. She locked her door and collapsed on her bed.
That was horrifying, She thought.
Haruhi flicked her bedside table on and grabbed the closest of the eight books she had taken. She had organized them by date, so she started with the earliest one. The first entry was written four years ago, when the twins were in middle school. She flipped to the first page and began reading.
Journal:
I have no idea why my parents keep buying me these books. They get Hikaru books, too. Once I get one, I have to fill it out. I don't like it when the pages are blank. It makes me uneasy.
Last night was Halloween. Hikaru and I didn't go out that night. We were sick. In fact, I am still sick today. It's not that bad, it's just a runny nose and coughing. We both wanted candy. I have a feeling that we won't ever go trick-or-treating again. Call it a gut instinct, if you will.
Tomorrow is a school day. I like school a lot. Hikaru does, too.
Haruhi stopped reading when she got to that line. Kaoru liked school? What happened?
I remember one day a teacher yelled at a girl in my class about not doing homework. She was crying, and I remember I didn't want her to be sad. Ever since then, I've always done my best in school. I'm sure that Hikaru feels the same.
That spacific entry ended there. She turned to the next page and saw that the next entry had been written about a week later.

Journal:
I will never speak again. I will only speak to Hikaru. What happened yesterday has changed everything.
When we were younger, Hikaru and I had made a pact to never let anybody inside "our world". We live up to that promise even today. That's probably why we did what we did.
There was this note on my desk. It was a love letter, sent to me from a girl named Marie. She wasn't anything special. She was pretty boring, actually. I read the note to myself and let Hikaru read it, too. It was adressed to Hikaru, but she had put it on my desk. This was a typical mistake that most girls made. We have recieved many letters in the past, and we deal with them all in the same way. We have to get the girls off of our backs. All we do is ask the girl to meet us by the fountain, and then pretend to act kind. If it were me, I would pretend to be Hikaru tell her that she mistook my desk for Kaoru's. Then, I would ask if she could like me instead. When she would agree, Hikaru would show up and the girl's heart would be crushed. We would end each heartbreak the same way-- we would tear up the letter and watch the girl either run away or cry. This girl's heartbreak session was different, though. We went through all of the motions and phases of our plan easily, but when she was supposed to cry, she didn't. All she did was look at us sadly and say, "Okay. Now there is nobody." I remember those words so clearly. Hikaru and I had ripped up the letter in her face and everything, but her response was always the same. She ended up just walking away slowly.

We never saw the girl again. She didn't come to school the next day. We were all called to the lecture hall at one in the afternoon. The teachers were crying.
"Last night, at exactly twelve o'clock, Marie Sato commited suicide. The police found her body in her bathroom, with an empty bottle of pills laying next to her. She had written a short goodbye letter that we haven't yet read. It will be at her funeral for all to read." That is what the head teacher said. I remember feeling numb. Hikaru stopped breathing for a few minutes and was turning pale.
Every single student that attended the Ouran middle school and high school went to Marie's funeral. Every one of them had read her goodbye letter. This is what it said:
This is for everyone who doesn't care.
My family, and so called "friends"
And especially, Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin.
I love all of you, but I need to disappear. I know none of you love me back.
That's how everything started.

The Lonely King
He began walking over to me. This is it. I'm dead. I saw his shoes come into my view as I was looking down, hair covering my face. "Look at me." He growled out. I started to cry, too afraid to look. He grasped my chin and lifted my face to meet his. I mentally gasped. It's the guy from last night. His eyes held surprise too, before anger erupted in them. I cowered back in fear of what he might do."Who did this to your face?" He growled. I started to cry again and shake."Him." I whispered and gave a small nod toward the guy who hit me.
