《One of Us (Hitachiin Twins)》One of Us 17

The next day was Saturday. Haruhi had a major headache from staying up until two in the morning watching various different animes. Hikaru had wanted to show her Fairy Tail and Kaoru wanted to watch Angel Beats, so she ended up watching both with them. She didn't completely finish any, because Angel Beats made her sad and Fairy Tail had about a thousand episodes. She wanted to finish Soul Eater, but she had fallen asleep. It was strange, because she had woken up in her bed but had remembered sleeping on the couch. Huh.
She slouched into the kitchen and saw Hikaru and Kaoru sitting at the kitchen counter. They were watching something on the computer again.
"Oh, good, you're up." Kaoru said, noticing her. Haruhi groaned and covered her eyes with her arm.
"Don't talk to me. I'm so tired..." She peeked at the screen and collapsed onto the floor.
"Turn it off! I spent the entire night thinking about that show and I can't take it anymore!" She snapped. The twins didn't stirr or flinch.
"Oh come on. You'll get used to it." Hikaru said. Haruhi looked up and raised and eyebrow.
"This is peer pressure." She stated, raising her hand up and acting official. "And I'm sure Fairy Tail will still be there by the time I eat something."
Hikaru smirked and then looked back at the screen. His face lit up and he pointed to it frantically.
"Ooh! Haruhi, Gray took his shirt off again!" He cried. Kaoru nodded and laughed.
"Out of my way." She changed her mind and jumped onto Kaoru's lap so she could see. He gasped at the sudden action but then got over it and watched again. A few episodes later, the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it." Kaoru announced. He shoved Haruhi out of his lap and stepped away from them. Once he reached the door, he peeked through the eyehole and saw a blonde boy about their age. He gasped and crouched down.
"Hikaru," he whispered through gritted teeth, "it's Tamaki,"
Hikaru's eyes darkened and he stepped away from the situation. Haruhi shivered and watched Kaoru, feeling guilty about not telling them who she was hanging out with at school. She knew that if she let them know, they'd get really angry. Kaoru took a deep breath and opened the door.
"Hello?" He asked, doing his best to fake a smile. You could almost smell Tamaki's reaction from where Hikaru was sitting. His face, once smiling, shriveled up into a nasty scowl. His fists clenched and he observed the whole house in disgust. Hikaru slammed his chair into the ground and marched over to Kaoru.
"Yeah, hello. Did you need something?" He asked. His voice was angry and shaking, but he maintained a composed facial expression. Tamaki frowned and looked away.
"Does Haruhi Fujioka live here?" He asked with a solemn tone. Kaoru stood up straight, shocked. Hikaru turned back around to look at Haruhi, but then quickly faced the blonde again.
"No, we do. What do you want?" They both said at the same time. He shook his head and spun back around.
"Nothing. I just thought she stayed here. Kyouya told me she did, and this is the first time he's ever been wrong about something like this. Let alone giving me such... Wrong... Information." He snarled. Tamaki sent them one last glance and then slumped away with his hands in his pockets. Hikaru slammed the door and walked back into the kitchen where a nervous Haruhi was sitting. Kaoru tried to be subtle, but he looked pretty pissed, too. Haruhi bit her lip. What could she possibly do now? How could she hide this?

"Why was Tamaki Suoh-- the chairmans son-- at this house looking for you?" Hikaru hissed, stepping closer to her. Kaoru nodded. His hurt expression made Haruhi feel ten zillion times worse about lying to them then she normally did.
"I... Well, I..." She started. Kaoru cut her off.
"That boy was the one who started everything. If you're associated with him at all, you'll tell us right now, right? Hell, this is probably just part of his plan. You're a spy, aren't you? He sent you here to get close to us and then use the information in one of his little games, huh?" His voice cracked and it sent shivers up her spine. Hikaru looked at the ground shamefully.
"Haruhi wouldn't do that. Would you?" Hikaru looked up at her and his face looked so innocent and vulnerable that she couldn't bring herself to say it. These boys were to broken for this. She couldn't do it.
"No, I think he was just looking for me because I owed money to the school board," she lied through her teeth. She knew this was going to come back and slap her across the face later on, but she honestly couldn't do anything else right now. "I have the money. I'll just give it to him on Monday so he won't have to come here again."
The twins' faces flooded with relief and they slumped down into chairs.
"We overreacted, I'm sorry." They said, out of breath. She smiled weakly.
"It's alright. Can you tell me what Tamaki did to you?" She asked. They looked at each other for permission, and then began the story.
"It was all a set up. He pretended to be our friend. We told him everything. About everything.... And then one day we came to school and he was with this guy named Kyouya Ootori. He scares us, you may meet him. Don't tell him anything about you, understand? Anyway, Kyouya and Tamaki had this whole thing planned out where they just passed out false information about us that was twisted from the facts we had originally told Tamaki. It was bad. The school board suspended us for two weeks, nobody ever stepped near us again, and we lost our only friend. That's it." They finished sadly. Haruhi's face fell when she thought about the Kyouya and Tamaki that she knew. It just didn't add up.
"It's good to know that you'd never lie to us." Kaoru said dreamily. Her blood turned to ice and she could feel the guilt running through her again.
"Y-yeah, I'd never do something like that." She said, avoiding eye contact. Hikaru smiled.
"We finally found someone that we can trust. Thank you." He said.
