《Infected [killugon/killuaxgon]》Out of here- part 2

I throw a punch, which fortunately lands before he can dodge. He swiftly recovered and charged straight at me, striking me in the stomach. He weaves his way around me, kicking the backs of my legs. I cough slightly as I drop to the ground.
"Would that mean I'm the winner?" Killua grinned in triumph, wiping the blood from his nose.
"Damn it, Killua." I grimaced as I stood from the ground and massaged the growing bruises on the backs of my legs.
Killua burst out laughing, desperately trying to keep his mouth shut as he realized I had been glaring at him.
Leorio hurried over to us once he figured we were having a break. "I know this isn't a major issue, but we brought less food than we anticipated." He smiled awkwardly while I flash him a puzzled look. "Just how much is there left?" I questioned. Surely we wouldn't have to leave so soon, right? We've only been here for the past two days.
"About, a day's worth between the four of us." According to Leorio. The sudden information caused my eyes to widen. That means we'd have to leave to look for more food. We could, perhaps, try to hunt...
How tough could it be?
When you can't find any edible animals, it's quite hard in all honesty. We assume radiation had caused a mutation in the younger generation of animals.
I went hunting alongside Kurapika while Leorio and Killua stayed back, and all we found were a few creatures. However, they all looked to be different in some way. We had seen oversized squirrels, two-headed deer, and some that appeared to have walker-like attributes themselves.
Based on what we've witnessed so far, their eyes looked faded and white, as if they were blind, and their flesh rotted similar to a walker's. The mutation can also alter the size and shape of the organism. In many cases, this could play against us.

We killed and dissected one for "research purposes," and sure enough it was not edible, the meat was all terribly carcinogenic and toxic. I'm glad Kurapika studied these topics before all this unfolded.
But I suppose I'm glad we don't have to hunt these things for food, especially when they hunt you for the same reason. We presume they have toxic saliva much like a walker, which could potentially convert us.
We returned with its carcass, and sure enough, they wouldn't believe it until they saw it themselves. After our unsuccessful hunt, we decided to rest on the large tree net and find another way tomorrow.
"I say we leave in the morning. We could be on the road till we find someplace to be." Leorio explains.
"That might just be one of the better options, old man," Killua remarked.
"I agree. If we are going to settle down somewhere permanently, I suggest somewhere in the country. Without many neighboring houses." Kurapika added.
"We will leave tomorrow morning, then," I concluded.
The night before we were to leave, Gon and I sat side by side in one of the treehouses yet again. We were stargazing as usual, and I was unconsciously throwing glances in his direction. "Why does your hair stick up like that, Gon?" I question, amused.
He sneered. "My hair thinks gravity is just a suggestion." With a shrug of his eyes, he explained.
"Wait, you mean you're not purposefully maintaining that hairstyle?" I burst out laughing.
"How the hell are you expecting me to find hair gel out here?" He groaned, but his joyful smile still lingered on his face.

Necromancer's Resolve
Foster Locke's life wasn't the harshest it could have been. But it wasn't the easiest either. Despite losing the last of his family and having immense debt thrown on him, getting the chance to keep practicing Martial Arts pulled away, and having a completely messed up sleep-schedule, he usually tried his best to stay positive to the outside world. Of course, that wasn't always possible, especially not when he was staring into the glowing eyes of a man-eating creature he had never heard of before. The glowing message-box that accompanied it wasn't much better either. Not to mention the fact that he was suddenly in a dark forest instead of the train station. This isn't a story of great anguish, inescapable peril, or heroic world-saving. Rather, it's one of a young man trying to get by in a world that seems to try his best to kill him. I hope you enjoy the read. --- Cover Image temporary [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
