"Stark," Aizen ordered, "Go fetch the girl."
"Yes sir," said Stark before disappearing in a flash of sonido, presumably to fetch Inoue Orihime from her playdate with her friends and Shinigami. Aizen, Agito, Gin, and Tousen stood together in the Throne Room, preparing the last few minutes of time before ripping a garganta and reaching Karakura Town.
All preparations were already made. Every single moment was calculated and all of Aizen's spys and technology has come back with the entire Gotei Juu-San's plan. There was only one way for this all to end.
They didn't have to wait for long.
Stark appeared once again and left to go back to Lilynette. Orihime stood alone. There was color back in her cheeks. Her eyes shined with life but when she realized that she was once again separated from her friends and in a very dangerous situation ... well she looked despairating.
"Welcome back, Orihime," Aizen greeted, as if he were a gentleman. As if he were a person with actual feelings. Agito called bullshit. "What's wrong? Such a heartbroken expression."
In front of their guest, so close to the last scene of this fucked up play, Agito Diabolos stood impassibly still. Absolutely perfect.
Neutral expression, inner rage and mounting bloodlust buried so deep that one could say she didn't feel them at all. Pure white suit pressed and sharp, hair artfully done, she was a vision of catastrophe.
Fucking perfect.
She didn't even twitch when Aizen used shunpo to get in close with Orihime. He whispered, "Smile."
Like a fucking rapist and god Agito hated him so much. Hated him so much her teeth ached with it. She wanted to kill him but first she wanted to taste blood.
"Everyone is saddened when the sky turns dark," he said, sweet worlds poisoning the young human girl, "All you have to do is smile and wait here a short while. Just until we return from destroying Karakura Town."
"Destroy Karakura Town?" she repeated as if unable to believe such a scheme.
"Correct. We will destroy Karakura Town and create the okken," Aizen said before addressing, "Kaname, the Tentei Kuura."
"Yes sir," Tousen said immediately procuring the kido asked for, "Bakudo Nana-Juu-Nana, Tentei Kuura."
The Tentei Kuura spell was, in shortened terms, an intercom for announcements. In times of war, such a kido was used to send out information that was important to all forces on every battlefield.
"Can you hear me members of the invading force?" Aizen said, so friendly and absolutely confident, "Allow me to pay my respect for having felled so many of the espada. More importantly, we will now commence our invasion of the Human World. I have placed Inoue in Tower Cinco. If you'd like to rescue her, come and take her back. She is of no longer any use to me."

He spoke more about the current plan. Ranting about the fallacy for the Shinigami to arrive in Hueco Mundo. But Agito wasn't listening.
She was practicing her breathing exercises, trying to remain as calm as possible, trying her very best to keep her blood pressure low but it was difficult with her heart beating so fast. To everyone around, she was absolutely confident. So confident that she was bored to even have to act upon her own war plans.
But inside, her heartbeat was steadily climbing. Her breathing would sometimes stutter cause she wanted to breathe faster, her excitement coiling up from the dark recesses of her brain. All those years of waiting, waiting, and now the time has finally arrived.
Agito will kill Aizen. She will kill anyone who stood in her way.
With that as her conviction, she tuned back in to her surroundings, listening to the last of Aizen's speech, "We will annihilate Karakura Town, create the Okken, conquer Seireitei, and then when that is all over with, we'll deal with you at our leisure.
"Let's go Gin, Agito, Tousen."
"Yes, sir," they dutifully replied back, walking through the garganta without a single glance back.
Outside in the Living World, the sun was shining bright. Agito let the sun rays raze through her pupils before overlooking the battlefield. The Gotei Juu-San were already waiting for them.
Yamamoto-soutaichou stood front and center. At his side was Ukitake-taichou with Shunsui-taichou, Soifon-taichou with her fukutaichou, and Hitsugaya-taichou with his fukutaichou, Rangiku Matsumoto. Though the lineup was small, all soldiers were strong. There would be a difficult battle ahead.
"It would seem that we made it in time," Yamamoto-soutaichou said with all the casualness of the world as if this very moment hasn't been planned down to the very second.
"In time?" Aizen mused, "To what end do you speak those words. I am aware that this is not Karakura Town, however that will not interfere with my plans in the slightest." Aizen had always known because he had spies everywhere. Seireitei doesn't have a clue with how deep his surveillance went. When Urahara-san made his plans and presented them to the Soutaichou, Aizen heard everything.
In other words, Aizen and his army weren't surprised to sense no human souls in the town below them.
"Stark. Barrigan. Halibel," Aizen ordered, "Come here."
Three different gargantas opened and the three top Espada stepped through with their fraccion. For a brief second, Agito felt annoyance on their behalf. They weren't dogs to be summoned in such and impersonal way. But the moment was gone because there was too much happening to lose focus for a moment.

"If Karakura Town is in Seireitei then we will annihilate all of you and make the Okken in Seireitei. It's as simple as that," he said, "Until then, I entrust Las Noches to you, Ulquiorra." The gargantas all closed and for a brief second, Agito felt her Espada reach for her with his reiatsu.
It was the softest goodbye she had ever received.
If she were more like herself, Agito would have reached back with her own. But she wasn't. Here, before all to see, next to the man who she was planning to murder, she was la Reina and she couldn't falter for a second.
"Everyone get back," Yamamoto-soutaichou said, "Reduce all creation to cinders, Ryuujin Jakka."
The Soutaichou had unleashed his shikai with monsterous results. Honestly, this was the most unstable moment of the entire war. Would Yamamoto-soutaichou wipe away their very existence with a single swing of his blade? Or would he do something a little more simple?
Because of the unknown, Agito placed a light hand on her blade, trusting that Michael would be stronger if the need arises.
"Joukaku Enjou," Yamamoto called, much to the relief of Agito, Gin, and Tousen. Not by much to Aizen though because he's a nutcase. Joukaku enjou was an entrapment. A wave of fire curled around the four, encasing them in a ball of flames that'll never go out as long as Yamamoto wills it.
Yamamoto had effectively separated the three Espada from their generals.
"Hyah, it's so hot, you really overdid it, Soutaichou," Gin complained, "What're we to do, Aizen-taichou? With this up, we can't participate."
"Nothing," Aizen said so very calm and collected, "This fight will be over without there ever being a need for us to get involved. That's all there is to it. But beyond that, I wonder..."
Aizen turned his head to look upon Agito. He said, "I wonder if this moment was what you were waiting for, Agito Diabolos."
Agito smiled, closing her eyes and deliberately shifting her weight to show how relaxed she was.
"I'm not that boring, Aizen," she said, "When I betray you, you'll never see it coming."
"You seek to betray Aizen-sama," snarled Tousen, his hand already drawing his zanpakuto, "And announce it so arrogantly."
Now that all four of them were alone with no one to hear them, Agito let go of her la Reina title but she was still playing the game of power.
"Get with the times, Kaname-kun," she said just to get on the blind man's nerves, "It was no secret among us that I want to murder your master. You just like to pretend I don't exist."
"To speak such blasphemy in Aizen-sama's presence, I will not have it." Tousen drew his zanpakuto completely and by the pulse of his reiatsu spiking through the air, he was very serious with ending her life.
Agito might not be la Reina among the four of them but she was still Agito Diabolos, and that is to be terrifying. She stopped smiling and spiked her own reiatsu with frightening results.
Joukauku enjou brightened in light intensity, in heat. The flames shivered with delight and a song of wails seemed to echo around like like a church hymn.
"Sheathe your blade," Agito ordered, the silent threat hanging in the air. 'Sheathe your blade or I will kill you. Sheathe your blade or I will burn you alive. Sheathe your blade or I will have you regret ever facing me.
'You are nothing to me, maggot. Know who you face.'
He sheathed his blade.
"Such excellent examples of your abilities, Agito," Aizen praised, "Truly, the makings of a ruler."
"Aizen-taichou?" Gin questioned.
"It's nothing," he reassured, "Just my own musings."
Agito couldn't help but turn away when she saw the creepy grin of madness spread across his face. She knew he was planning something but she didn't want to know.
She didn't want to fall further into his delusions.
So she turned away until she was staring at the orange and yellow walls of Joukaku Enjou. She closed her eyes and without anyone knowing, she fell into Jinzen.
Burning, burning, everything was burning.
When she opened her eyes in her Inner Sanctum, it was to Mîkhā'ēl in front of her. A mass of black fire flickering excitedly, eyes of a thousand dragons blinking in and out of existence. Spinning around and around him was the bronze spear with the carved whale fang.
"Ready?" she asked even though she knew his answer.
'Let the End of Days come.'

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
