《The Fun Nerd || rottmnt Donnie x Reader》Chapter 10

That same night of Donnies confrontation, Leo came home.
He anxiously paced around, awaiting the moment Donnie would run out and cut him to bits.. But it never happened. For the smallest moment, Leo stood near his brother's room. Should he go in and try to hash things out.. Or would that lead to disaster? He didn't know. As Leo stood mere feet away from the brother who'd nearly knocked half of his teeth out, a voice called for him. It was the eldest brother.
Leo grunts to himself and spins on his heel, retreating to the call of his big brother.
Leo peeked around a wall and there stood Raph, he was drinking soda and looked like he was scrolling on his phone. "Yes, Raphie?"
The snapping turtle rolls his eyes at the name and chooses not to address it, "Were you at (Y/n)'s house all day?"
Leo hums and puts his hands on his hips, "Yeeeep." He says, popping the P. He had a big goofy grin, thinking about you.
Raph gives him an unamused look, "You're saying you went to (Y/n)'s house and probably flirted with her-- even though (Y/n) has feelings for Donnie?" Raph leaned down and glared Leo in the eye like an angry cop. Leo nervously laughs, "Yes..?"
Raph sighs in angry-disappointment. Leo was shaking in his non-existent boots. He knew one thing that peeved Raph off was when one of his brothers does something so brainless, that it tears the family apart. Raph jabs Leo in the chest with his phone in frustration. "That's not cash-money Leo, Donnie came home earlier, looking so angry and like he was gonna cry. I'm guessing he went over and saw something he didn't want to."
Leo carefully pushes Raphs arm away, "Actually, he got mad and decked me in the jaw, then left."
Raph gets a look that spelled: 'If one more stupid thing comes out of your mouth, I'm going to knock you in the head so hard, you won't see straight for weeks.' Leo sees this and stops talking.

"And why do you think he got that mad, Leo?"
Leo sighs and sulks, feeling a little shame. He looked like a child. "Because I told him I asked her out.. and that I tried to kiss her."
Raph huffs and crosses his arms, "That explains it. So, now that you're home, go apologize." Raph dramatically swings his arm and points in the direction of Donnie's room. Leo drags out a long sigh as he continues to sulk. "Ok.." Leo says in a monotone voice.
Raph pats Leos shell and watches as he walks in the direction of Donnie, dragging his feet the whole way.
Leo reaches the same spot he'd been minutes before. He was pretty nervous, but he knew if he didnt go in, Raph would force him in-- by any means.
Leo knocks on the wall, "Hey, Donnie?" There's a low grunt in response. Leo takes a few deep breaths, "Can we talk?" Another grunt is heard, so he slowly goes in.
He nearly gasps when he sees his brother.
Donnie was at his desk, surrounded by mechanical parts, empty mugs and cups.
"Donnie.. what are you doing, bud?"
Donnie spins around in his swivel chair, holding what looked like a gun in his hand.. only it looked more sci-fi esc. Leo swallows hard, was Donnie gonna commit a homicide?
Donnies head was hung low and he was shaking with every breath, presumably from all the caffeine.. Or maybe he was just that upset.
Leo opened his mouth to talk, but Donnie cut him off, "Why?"
Leo looks around in confusion, "Huh..?"
Donnie starts shaking a little more, gripping the handle of the contraption. The sound of small parts trembling filled the room. "Why did you take her? You're supposed to be my brother."
Leo's expression saddens, realizing what Donnie was getting at. "Look, I didn't know you actually felt the same.. and she didn't reject me so I thought--"

Donnie stops shaking and he drops the gun-like device. It clatters to the floor causing a few pieces to break and scatter along the ground. Leo watches as the small pieces of metal skid in every direction. Donnie clenches his fists, "So you take it as an invitation!?"
Donnie suddenly stands on his feet and looks up at his brother. His eyes were bloodshot and full of anger.
Leo takes the smallest step back, "Well, I like her too you know!"
Donnie makes a sound resembling a growl. Seeing how furious his brother was, Leo's expression becomes stern, "Look man, if you can't bring yourself to stay with her-- even after she confesses, what hope is there? If you can't start anything with her, then I will! I'm not afraid to love her."
Donnie hangs his head again and his arms twitch from the pressure of the grip in his hands.
"Take it back."
Leo feels his conscience yell at him to apologize and take it back, but he had a point. "Sorry, but I can't. She gave me a chance and I'm not going to give it up."
Donnie was fighting with himself to not lunge forward and ring Leo's neck.
Leo steps forward and cautiously puts a hand on his brother's shoulder. "I'm sorry. I know I hurt you, but I stand by what I said. You need to look around you." Leo watches as Donnie just stands there, motionless. His heart sinks a little. All his brothers were tough-love, but he still loved them all. Not wanting his brother to feel this hurt anymore, he did one thing he could think of where they'd both have a chance.
"I-I'll tell you what, we can both work to win her over." Leo steps in and hugs Donnie, "You have to try though." Leo pulls back and sighs, patting Donnies shoulder.
Donnie was still looking down.
Leo frowns, knowing the doubt Donnie had in himself. "Chin up, man. So what if you have issues? We all do! But you have to realize that they don't control you if you don't let them." Leo smiles, "Well, besides that coffee addiction of yours."
For a moment, it looked like Donnie grinned. Leo extended his hand and smiled brightly, "I'll give a hell of a fight, but for a brother like you-- I'll let you give the same fight back."
Donnie slowly raises his gaze and looks at Leo's hand, then at his twin. The big smile on his brother's face pulled Donnie from his angered thoughts.
Leo waves his hand enticingly, "Deal?"
Donnies eyes widen. Slowly, Donnie raises his hand and takes Leo's hand. Donnies posture straightens and a small, but sincere smile appears on his face, "Deal."
The two shake hands and after a few moments of relief, Leo pulls Donnie into a tight hug. Donnie stands there awkwardly. Eventually though, he pats his brother on the shell with a smile.
A devilish grin crosses Leo's face, "Welp, you better ready your shell Don, because I'm gonna win that beautiful little cupcake!" Leo playfully jabs Donnie several times in the stomach with his fingers, before making a mad, and terrified dash out of the room. Donnie huffs and his brows furrow as he chases after his dear brother in fury.
"Oh you blue-masked no-good, son of a snake!"
Raph laughs as he watches Donnie chase Leo around with a skateboard raised above his head, prepared to flatten him.
"Everything's back to normal. Sort-of.." Raph sighs.
"Oh, heck yeah! A brotherly fight!" Mikey laughs as he grabs his skateboard and starts chasing after his older brothers. "Michel, no!" Raph charges after his youngest brother with a panicked face.

[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Author's Note: Dungeons are Bad Business (DABB) is a slow burn slice-of-life dungeon core litRPG citybuilder that's focused on the day to day experience of running a dungeon. There will be some action, but it won't be the focus of the story and Vee and his friends will usually overcome their problems with their minds and their pocketbooks instead of their weapons. Since I'm participating in the writeathon, I will probably be uploading chapters almost daily for the duration of the event. Thanks for reading!
