You frown, closing your eyes and covering your ears.
Donnie's eyes widen as he carefully takes your wrists in his hands.
"(Y/n), what has he done to you..?"
You duck your head and tense. "It's fine. Everything is alright, you can sleep now!"
Donnie's heart breaks as he realizes that the relationship you once had was truly horrible. He lets you go and gets out of bed. "Alright, we can sleep." He pauses for a second, glancing at the bouquet on your nightstand. Donnie gets an idea. "Do me a favor." He says. Rubbing the top of your head. His voice was calm and sweet, allowing you to relax. You look up at him. "What?"
Donnie takes your hands in his, before moving them up and covering your hands over your eyes.
"Keep them closed." He says, you listen to his instruction and don't move your hands. Your vision had a reddish glow from the light above leaking through your fingers; however, everything suddenly went dark.
You said nothing and just waited for Donnie to tell you what to do.
Once the lights were out, the vase of flowers slowly began to illuminate, until they brightly glowed vibrant colors.
Donnie smiles at his creation, a little proud. He eagerly sits beside you on the bed and puts an arm around you. "Ok.. open them." He whispers.
Your hands move out of your face and you notice a bright colorful glow in the corner of your eye. Naturally, you look in the direction of the mysterious glow, and as soon as you see the source, your jaw falls slack. "Donnie, what.. How did you..?" You remark, the words dying on your tongue. Donnie chuckles and pulls you close as you adjust yourself to get a better look. "Do you like it?"
You barely manage to laugh, finding yourself breathless. "I love it." You say in a hushed voice.
You turn to him and tackle him in a hug, Donnie falls backwards onto the bed and the two of you share a hearty laugh. Eventually, you push yourself up and look down at him. A radiant smile was plastered to his face. You both felt so happy in the moment, everything was perfect.
As your laughter dies down, the two of you stare into each other's eyes for a moment. The two of you grow still, as the realization sunk in that your faces were so close together.
Your breath hitches and your smile fades as heat creeps up to your face, until you are on the verge of sweating. Donnie's expression softens too; his eyes scanned over your face, captured by the sight of you. He raises one of his hands and carefully cups the side of your face, the feeling of your skin against his hand makes his palm tingle.

For a moment the two of you are motionless and quiet. You glanced at his mouth, and he glanced at yours. It was obvious what was on both of your minds.
As Donnie looked at you with longing eyes, you could hear your heart thumping in your ears. The sudden change in mood caught you off-guard and you began to shy away. You avert your gaze.
Slowly, a bashful grin crosses your lips and you back away, you feel like running into another room to gather your wits. Donnie laughs nervously and carefully pushes you off him, then sits up. It was now when the heat rushed to Donnie's face, as well as when he began growing anxious and shy.
Both of you try to play off what just happened.
He clears his throat and yawns dramatically, making you quietly snort in amusement. It was about time you got to sleep, tomorrow was another day of school. As much as you wished you could stay up with him for days, sadly you could not. It would also probably be in both of your best interests to sleep off this lovey-dovey haze, before something happened neither of you were ready for.
"Let's get some sleep." You say patting his leg. When he glances at you, you were already getting under the sheets. You rubbed your face to chase away the blush and you anxiously adjusted your clothes and hair, wanting to look nice in front of him, especially after what just happened.
Donnie's heart raced as he looked at you, to him you looked utterly enchanting. He knew he had to win, he was so close to having something so dear, but this time, he had to understand you were not exclusively his. It would be hard to accept, all he wanted was for you to be all his; however, he was starting to understand how to love with an open hand.
Donnie crawled in bed beside you and got under the blankets. He carefully cuddled up to you, giving your cheek a tiny peck before he laid his head against your shoulder.
Every few minutes, Donnie would nestle into you a little more. It made you feel all funny inside. He was acting so sweet, and you didn't understand how this could be the same Donnie you've always known. He wasn't one for physical contact. Yet here he was, squished against you, his arms wrapped around your waist and his face buried in the crook of your neck.

As you cuddled him, he flipped onto his stomach and groaned into the pillows beside your neck, making you burn up. All you could do was lay there and stare at the ceiling.
As minutes passed, you got curious.
You saw the small toothy spikes that poked up from Donnie's shell. It wasn't often that you saw his shell, let alone have the chance to touch it. You knew to be gentle with it, being how fragile and sensitive it was. So, you reach over and softly run your fingers over the small spikes on Donnie's shell. Immediately, when you brush your fingers over them, Donnie pushes himself up in surprise. His body shuttered. "What was that?" He asked, looking over his shoulder.
"Oh, I'm sorry.. Did that hurt you?"
Donnie looks down at you and he blushes, a small huff leaves his lips as he lays back down and pulls you close. "If you're gonna do that, be careful."
You smile, "Will do."
A few seconds later, you reach over again and slowly run your fingers along the spikes once more. Donnie shivered at the contact a few times, but eventually relaxed and started falling asleep.
As Donnie was drifting in and out of sleep, he whispered into your ear. "I love you.." His voice was tired and deep, making you scrunch up, flustered. After this, he sighed with content and promptly fell asleep. This boy was going to be the death of you.
You said nothing back as you stared up at the ceiling, the flowers giving the room a small glow.
-------
The next morning, you wake up to snoring in your ear. You glance up at your dresser, it seemed the glow in your precious new bouquet had fizzled out.
You take in a long breath, and exhale with a sigh. It was one of those mornings.
Perfect temperature. Not too bright, not too dark. Fresh air and no loud traffic screeching outside your window.
With a happy smile, you turn your head and see Donnie passed out like a baby. Half his body was on top of you, while the other half was sprawled out. Resisting an adoring chuckle, you sit up and do your morning stretch, before you rub the top of his head and gently poke his shell.
"Wake up, Donnie. I have to get ready for school."
Donnie grumbles and clumsily swats your hand away, but you are persistent. "C'mon, up and at 'em!" You start aggressively tapping his shoulder and head.
Finally, Donnie sat up. He whines in annoyance and rubs his face. "Why..?" His muffled voice beneath his hands was croaky. You scoot off the bed and stand up. "It's breakfast time and unless you want to stay at my place and sleep all day, I'd suggest getting up." You smack the bed and grin at him. Donnie's eyes drooped and he looked incredibly tired and annoyed.
"Nooo.." He groans, about to flop back down, though you manage to grab his shoulders and attempt pulling him up, but this boy was heavy. You tug with all you had, yet he would barely move. You were growing frustrated, whilst Donnie seemed to find it amusing, because in his groggy morning-state he decided to mess with you. Donnie leaned in with his eyes closed, right as you were giving a big tug.
A tiny gasp escapes your mouth as you lean back, avoiding the kiss he was going for.
Donnie's eyes flutter open as he leans against you. "You're extra cute in the morning.." He remarks, throwing his arms around your waist and hugging you tight. You were so flustered and confused. The sunrise gave the room a small -almost romantic- glow, like Mother Nature herself just wanted this relationship to happen.
It seems like this is just how he is when he wakes up; too touchy-feely and lovey-dovey. It wasn't that you minded it, it was just different, Donnie was almost never like this. Nothing he was doing seemed to make much sense.
You pat the top of his head and sigh, the heat in your face slowly fading. "Come on, get dressed, you dork."
Donnie pouts and squeezes you tighter. He really is just a big soft baby in the right circumstances, isn't he?
"Ok, maybe a bit longer.." You sigh, rubbing his head and tracing careful circles over his shell. Donnie smiles and looks up at you, his expression soft, with a honey-glow.
"Pretty lady." He says, lowering his head once more and closing his eyes.

Kind’s Kiss
MAGIC DOESN'T KILL, NOT BY ITSELF. IT NEEDS A LITTLE HELP. Jessica DeRidder is a substitute teacher and mage in hiding, her daughter Ellen a killer on the run. Their next job lands the mother-daughter team in Hellhole, a small town in the middle of nowhere. All they need to do is their job. For Mom to identify the problem, and for Ellen to... fix it. Easy. Simple. But not this time. The pair find themselves caught in the struggle between the Man-in-White and the Wicked Witch of the West. A mysterious image and the theft of a deadly flower lead the pair to a score of dead prisoners, magical drug dealers, and red-eyed assassins falling from the sky. And somehow it all seems to be related to Ellen's murky past. All Ellen wants to do is do her homework, eat ice cream, and protect her newfound friends (not necessarily in that order). She'll go all-in, guns blazing. But when the smoke clears there may be nothing left but a stranger's past and a lonely future. --- 'Kind's Kiss' is a light, modern-day fantasy, easy on the magic, heavy on the snark. Though complete it is still a work in progress. One reviewer described it as 'Buffy meets Sabrina, as done by Tarantino'. I'm still not sure if I should consider that a compliment or hire a hitman :-)

Right Side of Hell
Albus Dumbledore was sure he made the right choice sacrificing an innocent child. Too late he understood how terrible that mistake was. Harry Potter was not what he wanted him to be, he was not what the magical world expected him to be. He was not a replica of James, instead, he inherited more of Lily. Far too much to be convenient.
