《Who am I?! (Completed)》Chapter 23

Their screams, they were full of nothing but pain and pure fright, it broke Marinette right then and there. No matter how hard she tried to block them out, its all she could hear and she had to make sure she didn't do anything rash.
If she could, she would punch Hawkmoth's face so hard, his face would be permanently deformed and it would be stuck in an awkward position. She had no other desire than to kill him but that would make her a criminal, the Villain. She couldn't have that, not when she had a city to save.
"Okay, let's get rid of Glaciator, along the way I have a plan that should get rid of Party Crasher and if we're lucky, maybe even Frozer."
She began to formulate a plan in her head, she couldn't use her lucky charm just yet because she needed that for later- if there was a later anyway.
Jumping from rooftop to rooftop, she studied Paris. The broken and burning buildings, fires spouting from random corners, debris and ash flying and falling all around. Desperate cries from both young and adult echoed as children tried to find their parents, other in pain and attempting to run for their life.
Marinette's heart broke at the sight of a child running into his mothers arms after being separated by some debris and fire. She needed to make sure all the civilians were safe and not in harms way, she could heal them afterwards but the pain, it's not worth it.
It took at least half an hour to make sure everyone was out of harms way, moving citizens from their hiding places and reuniting families that were broken apart. All making their way to the 'bunkers' the mayor had finally installed after much convincing when Hawkmoth became more powerful.
The bunkers was a place were everyone would hide when there was an akuma, it helped make sure no civilians were going to get hurt and were all safe till everything was handled by Ladybug.
"Alright, we got rid of Gigantatium and Mr pigeon but they were easy." Ladybug bit her lip as she surveyed the area on the random rooftop she found, she stood with her hands on her knees as she was slightly out of breath from all the running and swinging.
Not to mention the fact that she was still covered in bruises from previous battles that she hadn't fully healed from and was still weak as she had only woken up mere hours ago.
The horse and cat Kwami hovered next to the girl as they waited for what she said next, both on guard for any oncoming akuma's. Then, it was so out of context but something suddenly hit the young girl.
"I just realised, I pulled a Jason."
A small smile came onto her lips but disappeared straight away when she saw the faces of the two Gods. At their deadpanned expressions, she explained further.
"What?! I just realised it and I needed to announce it or else it would bother me for the rest of the fight!"
"I have no idea what I'm going to do with you bug." Plagg shook his head to express his disappointment.

Marinette stood upright and her smile widened. "Oh come on, you can't lie but it is a little funny."
Just as he was going to reply something was thrown in her direction.
It was inches away from her eyes but she caught it just in time before it poked out her eyeballs. Staring at the object in her hand, it looked a lot like a batarang.
She had seen her family use it hundreds of times and was more than familiar with the weapon but what made this different was the colour, it was dark brown. Only one akuma wore that colour and a weapon like that. Marinette whispered,
"Dark owl."
A dark figure could be see running/flying/swinging, she wasn't sure what he was doing, was coming in her direction and by the shape of the silhouette, she could easily define who it was. Ladybug gulped.
*******
"Sugar, Sugar, Sugar, Sugar."
Ladybug repeated over and over again like a mantra as she jumped from rooftop to rooftop, escaping from the rising water that began to flood the Parisians streets.
She tried her best not to swear but completely forgot that there was no one to actually reprimand her of her language.
The black and red heroine was currently trying to find the source of the ongoing water, Syren. While she somehow ran from the water, she had sent Plagg to deal with Glaciator and Kaalki had just come back from helping the bluenette defeat Frozer.
Now that Paris wasn't covered in ice, it was now being flooded with water. Talk about luck.
"We are absolutely screwed if we can't find Syre-"
It all happened so fast that Kaalki couldn't comprehend what just happened.
Syren had just jumped out from the water and over the roof they were currently running on, she swept Ladybug into her arms and dragged her into the water. The speed she was going at meant Ladybug didn't have anytime to dodge the attack or even see the akuma in the first place.
Kaalki halted in her place gobsmacked.
*******
"Where the heck is that girl!"
Chloe was seriously beginning to contemplate her life decisions right now. Chloe had been recently informed that her best friend was missing. She was called by one of Marinette's brothers to see if Chloe was with the girl or knew where she was, Chloe had no clue and was growing restless.
The bluenette could be anywhere, for all she could know she could've gotten kidnapped by some Gotham Villain or she could be in Paris-
Chloe felt like the dumbest person on earth right then and there.
She smacked her forehead and called herself stupid several times before picking up her phone and pressing a certain app icon. The app showed exactly what she needed but not in a good way. At least she had the answer to where Marinette was but as she observed the scene on her phone, she felt the pit in her stomach grow.
Paris was in flames and ashes flew everywhere, from what she could also see, Paris was also flooded and that made Chloe even more anxious. That meant only one thing, Scarlet moth was back and Ladybug was facing all those akuma's alone.

Even if their class were out of the country and it reduced the number of akuma's, there were still what felt like hundreds. Over the past few years, many many Parisians were akumitised and some were worse than others. Mentally calculating the number in her head, her face paled.
There were too many and she was outnumbered by practically thousands. Some akuma's managed to make their own army and others had out of this world powers.
Chloe's hands shook as she turned her phone off not being able to watch Paris burn in flames, she couldn't watch as her best friend struggled and she had no way of helping. Chloe felt helpless but she knew Ladybug would come up with a plan and she always won.
Ladybug always won, no matter what. Today would be no different.
If teleporting back to Gotham to get some miraculi and even get Chloe to help her was apart of her plan later on, Chloe had no choice but to let the spotted heroine do her job.
"Did she pick up her phone?"
Chloe jumped slightly at the new voice and turned around to find Alix and one of Marinette's brothers who she recognised from Marinette's many stories and pictures as Dick. Chloe shook her head, swallowing the non-existent bile.
"She didn't pick up but I know where she is." Her voice was more quiet than her usual confident voice and that confused Alix.
Dick, who was currently on the phone with Bruce heard the words that came out of Chloe's mouth and turned to her instantly.
"Where is she?"
His voice was filled with desperation, he wanted nothing but to make sure his baby sister was safe and not hurt. Everyone was convinced she was somehow kidnapped by one of Gotham's villains but which villain was still to be determined.
Chloe licked her lips trying to find the correct words, she hesitated slightly before speaking. "Marinette isn't in Gotham." The two both looked confused but Alix soon picked up what she meant and paled.
"She's in Paris."
Alix whispered under her breath and immediately pulled out her phone from her back jean pocket.
Alix swore
Paris was a mess and from what her screen showed her, she couldn't even begin to think what Marinette was going through.
The akuma's flashed through her mind as she forced herself to remember all the akuma's Paris has faced in the past few years and she felt like she was going to be sick.
Both the new and old akuma's, they all brought nothing but destruction and pain but they also brought along trauma. Marinette was bound to come back from Paris with even more nightmares then what she left with and Alix didn't like the sound of that.
She never liked that Marinette was so selfless and always put everyone before her but that's what made Marinette stand out from the rest of the crowd.
Dick also swore
He remembered what Marinette had told him back in the hospital and he remembered his exact reaction to the news as well. It did seem absurd at first but from what she showed them they had no choice but to come to terms with Paris' situation. Dick took a peak at Alix's phone and he swore again.
Paris looked horrendous and he couldn't imagine his baby sister had to go through that more than once, her brought his phone back to his ear and was met with his mentors voice.
"What is it?"
The voice was firm and slightly strict but after living him for the same amount he has, he could clearly hear the concern and worry.
"Marinette's in Paris."
The phone line went silent and Dick knew he had some explaining to do and felt bad that Marinette couldn't be the one to explain her whole situation. She was the one who wanted to tell everyone about her being a heroine and all that stuff and had only told her two eldest brothers about it but due to their circumstances, he would be forced to tell everyone instead.
"I'm on my way back, call everyone else and tell them to stop searching and that we've found Marinette." Dick spoke back into the phone and quickly pulled it away to speak to the two teens in front of him.
"If Marinette returns at any point, you call me first." the two nodded and he walked out of the hospital waiting room.
The three of them searched the hospital she was staying in while everyone else scattered around and looked in any of the possible places she could've gone.
It was a relief to know Marinette wasn't kidnapped but it didn't help make the pit in his stomach disappear.
******
Ladybug was drenched from head to toe, her breathing was broken as she resurfaced from the water. She did it, she did it all by herself without any help from anyone besides Plagg and Kaalki. She had defeated every akuma and Syren was the final one.
Ladybug couldn't recall exactly how long she had been fighting but she was reading to curl up in a blanket and sleep for forever but then she remembered what was waiting for her.
She had expected everyone to realise her absence and to get suspicious but she just wondered how long she was gone. Marinette didn't exactly have the best time awareness and for all she could know, she could've been at it for the whole day.
The feeling of her ladybugs fixing the mess Hawkmoth made, she never got bored of it and it brought her relief. To feel they ladybugs cover her entire body itself, put a smile on her face.
She watched as Parisians came back onto the streets, all wearing the same facial expression, relief.
They all began clapping and whooping at their saviour, Ladybug was their saving grace and they would all probably be six feet under without her.
Ladybug felt heat rise up her cheeks as she waved at everyone. She saw a kid hiding behind their mum and clutching onto their mums thigh who gave her a shy wave, Ladybug blew him a kiss before jogging to give herself a little boost before she swung away.
The Parisians celebration and thanks could still be heard even after she left them, she smiled and laughed a genuine laugh. Paris might've not been the nicest to her but the people were always their to remind her that good people still do exist in humanity.
Now all she had to do was mentally and maybe even physically prepare herself for her arrival when she got back home.
