"And that is why you should never, under any circumstances, believe someone when they say they have candy in their van." Alli finished her never ending speech.
I raised my eyebrows as I balanced my iPhone in between my thighs. I wasn't really paying attention to whatever was coming out of her mouth because my mind was in the gutter. All I could think about was what happened last night between Bella and I.
Cody's chauffeur dropped me off at home last night so that I could change out of my clothes and take a shower. I made Alli and him swear not to bring up what had happened to Cody before they drove back to the Teen Club and acted as if nothing had ever happened. There was no point in trying to explain myself to Cody, the witch would have come up with an evil and twisted lie.
When I came over this morning, Alli was careful not to bring up the subject. She knew that I was the kind of person who liked to let things go and act as if nothing had ever happened.
"Are you even listening to me?" Alli asked in frustration.
I honestly shook my head. "Nope," I replied, popping the 'P.' Not listening to what Alli says isn't uncommon behavior for me. You'd be surprised at what this girl can talk about.
Alli sighed. "Whatev--" Her phone cut her off in mid-speech. Alli impatiently unlocked her iPhone and pressed it against her ear. "Hello?"
What if that was Cody? I brought my knees up to my chest. I was definitely listening right now.
"What? Slow down, Scoot." Scoot? Okay, good. It wasn't Cody; it was his manager.
"I don't underst--what, what happened?" I haven't seen or talked to Cody all day. I glanced at the clock which read 3:47 P.M. What if something happened to him?
"Where? I gotcha." Alli motioned for me to change the channel. I hesitantly picked up the remote. "Channel six," she added. What if they were going to show Cody being carried away by the ambulance? I couldn't see that. Shoving away my negative thoughts, I flicked threw the channels and onto channel six.
I mentally breathed a sigh in relief. Cody wasn't missing any piece of his body, nor did he look hurt. The expression on his face was unreadable, but by his actions you could tell that he was angry and upset. I watched in confusion as he punched a random boy that I recognized from last night's party in the face.
Alli and I gasped in unison. That was something totally out of nature for Cody. Alli dropped her iPhone and joined me on the couch.
"Ugh, turn it off." A voice from behind us suddenly moaned. I turned around to find Cody in sweat pants and an over sized sweat shirt. He looked as if he had just woken up and seemed annoyed. I quickly pressed the big red button on the corner of the remote and refocused my attention on Cody.

"What happened?" I asked.
"It was no big deal," Cody murmured, looking me over once. I followed him into the kitchen as Alli finished her conversation with Scooter.
Before Cody could help himself to a bowl of cereal, I flicked the spoon out of his hand and he frowned at me. "If you're going to be mad, don't take your anger out on Tony The Tiger." He said, referring to the box of Frosted Flakes.
"I'm not mad." I assured him, taking a seat beside him in the table. "I'm not going to accuse you of anything until I hear your side of the story."
"I made a mistake. I punched that dude for no reason, and I apologized to him afterward." Cody stated.
I stared at him in bewilderment. "Now I'm mad." I corrected myself, pushing his bowl of Frosted Flakes toward me and taking a spoonful.
Instead of responding, Cody stood up and got himself another spoon. He sat down beside me and ate off of the plate I stole from him. The only sound that could be made was Alli talking to Scooter on the phone and the sound of our crunching. "Are you ready to tell me what happened?" I asked, breaking the silence.
Cody took in a deep breath. "I punched that guy because I thought he hurt you."
"What?" I barely managed to choke out.
"I saw you glaring at him before you stormed out of the Teen Club last night." Cody said. My cheeks began to heat up in embarrassment. Cody did all of that for me? I now recognized the boy on the T.V. as one of the bystanders who had seen the whole incident between Bella and I.
"But then," Cody continued, "Alli told me after I punched him in the face that you left because you were hot and needed to cool off."
At least Alli stuck to her promise. How could I be angry with Cody? "I appreciate what you did, but please don't lash out or react like that. I don't want your fans thinking any less of the annoying, protective and mean boy that you already are." I playfully said. Wrong. He wasn't any of those things.
Cody chuckled and took another spoonful. "You know you love me. But, you're right, I shouldn't have reacted like that. It's just that--you're my best friend, pratically my baby sister and I would kill anyone who'd dare to hurt you." A baby sister? This is just great.
I swallowed back the lump in my throat. I took a moment before responding, not trusting my voice. I had to act as if this didn't phase me and I wasn't bothered.
While it was killing me on the inside.
"Would you catch a grenade for me?" I sarcastically asked.

"I would even throw my hand on a blade for ya." Cody teasingly sang along, leaning back against his seat. "I'd take a bullet straight threw my brains, yes I would die for you baby."
Bruno Mars could not have prepared me for this one.
"But, I wouldn't do the same." I finished the song while picking up our plate and bringing it to the sink. Wrong. I looked back to see Cody giving me the puppy eyes and pouting his lips. Cody could sing in any given moment. It was his passion to do ever since we were young.
"Thing." Alli firmly said, referring to Cody.
He snapped his head back toward her. "Yes, it?" He innocently asked.
"Scooter said you could take some time off this week until the whole media thing dies off." Alli said, leaning against the wall.
Cody pumped his fist into the air. "Nice! More time with Bella."
Alli rolled her eyes. "Whatever," she mumbled, "Take this. We're having a family barbecue this evening and you're on mop duty." Alli ordered, throwing a mop in his direction.

"What would you like to eat, baby?" Cody asked.
The lint licker her shoulders nonchalantly. "A hamburger will be fine."
Cody nodded, adding more meat onto the grill. "Nice."
"Aren't you going to ask your lovely sister and best friend what they want to eat?" Alli asked, looking up from her dominos.
"I don't really care about what you want and I know the way Santa likes her hamburgers. Cheesy with extra relish." Cody beamed, sending a grin in my direction. I smiled at him and shook my head, returning my attention toward the intese domino game Alli and I had been playing.
Bella walked by us and dropped her bag on the table, causing the dominos to shake and fall out of the order. "You totally did that on purpose." Alli yelled, glaring at Bella.
Bella looked at her innocently. "Are you accusing me of ruining your game of dominos?" Bella dramatically asked. She batted her eyelashes before looking at the scattered dominos on the floor and meeting our angry eyes. "That sounds so cold."
"Just like your heart," Alli muttered, picking up the pieces of dominos from the floor. I bent down to help her. If it were anybody else, Alli would have been clawing their eyes out. Nobody knew how or why, but Bella made Cody happy. Alli kept her mouth shut most of the time, as did I, because we didn't want to start any problems between the couple.
Bella only took this to her advantage. She could be mean and mess around with me, but as long as she kept a smile on Cody's face, it was all worth it.
After helping Alli out with picking up the dominos, I rose up from under the table and into my seat. A sizzling burger was placed in front of me. Who knew that one person could sing, cook and be amazing all at once? Alli and I didn't hesitate to dig in and take a bite out of our burgers.
Bella was staring at her food in disgust. I rolled my eyes at how rude she was being. "It's not going to bite you," I murmured, taking another bite out of my burger.
Bella shot dagers at me. "I'm not an idiot."
You sure about that, Medusa? "I never said you were." I protested.
"What's wrong with your food, love?" Cody asked. I flinched at the word love. Alli gave me a puzzled expression, but I quickly dismissed it, giving her a reassuring smile. Not even my best friend knew that I was in love with my other best friend.
"Don't 'love' me," Bella snapped, "you put tomatoes in my burger!"
Cody winced. He quickly took a double take, leaning closer toward her. "Please don't yell. I don't want my family to hear you." He said. "I'm sorry that I forgot you didn't like tomatoes. Just move it aside or something, I promise you won't be able to taste them."
"Ugh!" Bella shrieked, standing up from the table and sprinting into the house. Cody give us an apologetic look before excusing himself and following closely behind her.
"She is such a manslut," I muttered. When Alli didn't respond or come up with something witty as well, I turned around to look at her in confusion. Her head was down, and her hands were pressed against each other as if she were in the middle of a prayer. "What are you doing?" I asked.
"Amen." Alli finished, rising up to meet my eyes. "I need strength from the good Lord not to murder that son of a biscuit eating bulldog."
