Red string of fate can break.
Though, the bonds of love and friendship are not bound between the string.
Love and friendship finds its own way through generations.
Not even the red string string of fate can control love in any form.
Everyone has their own right to feel what they feel.

You felt nothing.
Nothing was tying you to the world. It felt like a punch to the stomach that would last forever. You stood in shock, your eyes wide open. Tsukishima stared at you with the same look; he felt it too. You quickly looked down at your left hand, and for the first time, you saw nothing.
The red loop around your finger was gone.
You looked back at Tsukishima in horror. Your mouth opened and closed not knowing what to say. You could feel yourself trembling.
"(Y/N)," Tsukishima said softly.
You didn't respond. Shaking your head, you slowly backed away from him. "How could you?"
He closed his eyes. He hated seeing you cry, but never has he seen you cry because of him. Whenever you cried he would feel like crying, so he made a pact with himself to never let you be sad enough to see tears running down your face.
"I—"
"Why did you have to yell?" Your voice was quiet, barely a whisper, but he could hear you clearly. It was the first time he heard you so broken. "Why couldn't you just tell me what was wrong. What I did. Why couldn't you just talk to me?"
"(Y/N)—"
"It's not supposed to break!" You were shaking. Though the air outside was humid, it was as if it would never be spring again. "No one ever said anything about it breaking, or that it could break. It's supposed to last forever."
You looked up at Tsukishima. Tears clouded your vision, but you could make out the shape of his body. "Do you really hate me that much?"

He shook his head. "No, I love you so much, (Y/N)."
Nothing he said registered in your brain. You barely heard what he was saying, it sounded muffled in your ears. "I mean, you must hate me so much for this to happen."
"Stop it," he said. He reached for your arm, but once he touched you, you flinched back. His touch felt like acid on your skin.
"Don't," you said. "I just can't."
You turned away and ran.
Tsukishima couldn't move. He watched as you ran across the street in the direction of your house. Once you faded from view, he leaned against the door of his house and slowly he slid down until he hit the ground. He moved to rub his eyes and his hand came back wet.

Neither of you went to school for the rest of the week. He came back at the beginning of the following week and you came back in the middle of that week.
Even though neither you nor Tsukishima told anyone about what happened, everyone seemed to know, or at least know that something was wrong.
They noticed neither of you speaking to each other. And for the other people who had found their red string partner, noticed no red string connecting the two of you.
No one said anything though. They knew it was none of their business, but they couldn't help but worry, even if they didn't say it.
You and Tsukishima avoided each other like the plague, or at least you did. You couldn't think, or look, at anyone.

All you wanted to do was go home.
Tsukishima ran up to you at the bus stop. He tapped your shoulder, and stared at you. All of his courage suddenly left him. They haven't spoken to each other in weeks.
You glanced up, and gave him a blank face. You gave everyone a blank face. You were too tired to be sad and nothing made you happy enough to smile. You raised your eyebrows in expectation, not trusting your voice to ask him what he wanted.

"(Y/N)... I-I'm sorry," he said.
You stared at him for a second, and began to laugh. Your body shaking with laughter, you leaned against the glass of the bus stop station.
"That's all you have to say?" You were still laughing, but your voice was hard. "After weeks of not speaking to each other all you have to say is 'I'm sorry'?"
"Yes?"
"Really?" Your mouth turned into a frown. " 'I'm sorry' isn't going to change anything, you do realize that, right? 'I'm sorry' isn't some magical tape that automatically fixes everything."
There was nothing said between the two. You waited for him to say something, anything, but nothing came. You decided you'd rather walk home than wait for a bus that might never come.
"A string doesn't dictate whether or not I want you in my life. Yes, the string was the one that brought me to you," he yelled as you started to walk away, "but, broken or not I still want you in my life."
Something inside of you burst. Maybe it was the fact that you kept a straight face for the past two weeks, but whatever it was, it happened now.
"You could have said that!" You shouted back. "You could have freaking said that earlier and none of this would have happened! You could have said anything to make me stay, to make the string not break, but you didn't. I don't even know why, and I think that's what kills me a bit.
"You could have said anything! But you just stood there while everything went to hell. I know that a string doesn't dictate our fate, but I couldn't look at you without being sad. I don't think that there is anything you could say that would make that change."
Visible tears went down Tsukishima's face. He didn't say anything.
You sighed. "And you're saying nothing now. I really wish words didn't leave you when you need them the most."
You walked away.
"Me too," he whispered and waited for the bus.

You were never the same.
You didn't smile as much or talked to anyone unless spoken to first. You did find someone though. They made you feel happy, but not as much as Tsukishima did. You remember smiling at your wedding and when you had your first child.
You had a family, a job, loving parents, and you were happy.
Just not as happy as you could be.
Today was your daughter's first day of school ever. She was in the same class that you had been in years ago.
Even with the past years, the classroom was still the same. The chairs were in the same place, but there was different artwork and pictures that decorated the walls and a new teacher.
Your daughter clung to your leg as you tried to walk away. "I don't want to go! I want to go home!"
You sighed and bent down so you were face to face. "Hey, you're going to love it here. I met some of the best people here. You're going to make amazing friends and meet the nicest people. Do you really want to miss out on all of those things?"
Your daughter nodded her head. "Yes, home."
You sighed and looked past her shoulder. A tall boy with blond hair was sitting on the carpet waiting for the other students to arrive. His dark frame glasses sat on the bridge of his nose. He looked like someone you knew. "Why don't you talk to that boy over there?" You prompted.
Your daughter looked over her shoulder and saw the boy. She walked over to the boy and began to talk to him. He looked up and smiled.
A red burst of light shined through the room.
