《Haikyuu!! AUs (x Reader)》Asahi Azumane- Feathers (Part 2)

You stumbled out of the metal door of your time machine when you arrived back home. Asahi slept soundly on the bed and will probably go into shot the moment he wakes up.
The metal of the door squeaked as you slid it open. On the other side was your workshop with most of the lights turned off. Your teacher sat at his desk, head thrown backwards and loud snores escaping from his throat. You looked at the clock to find it at only a few minutes after the time you left. The class must have been cleared in case of an emergency.
"Hey! Professor Kim!" you yelled shaking the chair he rested in. "Wake up! I didn't die in an other dimension!"
The who slept rolled his head and at the sight of you he screamed.
"Hey calm down. I know this isn't the most flatering of outfits, but I just got back and didn't get a chance to change."
Your professor gripped the side of his desks and stood.
"Ok get changed. Then we will talk."
Nodding you turned back for your machine.
"Oh! I also might have maybe taken a guy back with me." you said turning around bag to face your teacher.
"Of course you did. Please tell me he's dead at least?"
"In his timeline he is."

Azumane sat next to you In front of you teachers desk and ate plates of food as you explained what happened.
"So your telling me There was a malfunction in the sensors that causes the ship to go haywire before settling back down."
"Most likely. I was able to get back here didn't I?" you said as you filled out a form that Kim placed on the table.
"What's this for anyways?"

"So you won't sue me."
You nodded and placed the pen down.
"So, world war one? How was it?"
You jumped in your seat and Azumane looked up to look at your professor.
"Amazing!"
"Horrible."
"I learned to use a real gun!"
"I had to use a gun."
"And I died!"
"I actually died."
Prof. Kim looked back and forth between the two of you as you both spoke with contradicting opinions. And realising the direction of the conversation he picked up the signed piece of paper and left the large room.
"And I found out that someone I consider my friend is from the future and I'm now here with technology I had no ideas could exist."
"And that your best friend is long dead by now." you said softly lowering yourself into your chair.
"And my best friend is dead by now." Azumane put his fork down and looked at his calloused hands.
"And that your family died under the impression that you were dead."
"That too."
You wrapped your hand around his arm and rested your head on his shaking shoulder. He leaned into your comfort but didn't stop the silent tears that rolled down his cheeks.
"I should've broughten you back home. It was wrong of me to take you here. I'm so sorry."
"No. If you hadn't taken me with you I would have died without knowing my friend and family were safe. I wouldn't be alive and I'm grateful for that, I don't know anyone who would have jumped into battle to save my life."
His head titled in your direction and you used your free hand to support it slightly.
"Thank you, (Y/N)."
~~~~
"How's it going?"
"As good as it can be for catching up on centries of education."
"Trust me. It won't take you too long."
Your time machine had gotten an extra 10% because it had been actually demonstrated and in working condition. You sat next to Azumane helping him learn the basics of every subject as your class continued to work on their own projects, someimes going to your teamates for some help.
Although it had only been two weeks since your arrival back to the future with Azumane. He seemed to be coping well with everything that had been thrown at him. So days were spend studying - which he happened to be very good at - and night was when all the emotions needed to get poured out.
Once the clock hit five, people began to pack up.
"Okay Azumane, let's go home."
Since living in a time machine wouldn't be suitable, you had taken Asahi into your apartment that was provided by the school. And for the most part it was quite enjoyable, but then again there were those few odd moments where he couldn't figure out how the shower or sink worked.
You flopped in the couch turning on the projector as you did so, Azumane did the same next to you and sprawled his body along the length of the cushions.
"We could explore."
Azumane looked at you for a seconded before letting out a confused hum.
"We could go through time. Find more people and learn about the past. What do you say?"
You looked at Azumane as he stared at the projection in front of the two of you.
"If Mr Kim is willing to give me a degree. Then yes. I would love to."
