《Only Mine (Kagehina) (Kageyama x Hinata)》Chapter 2

The sound of Hinata's alarm kept ringing untill he was forced to gather up enough power to lift himself up from his bed and turn it off. He might have been a very bubbly and energetic person but he for sure wasn't a morning person.
6:00am was imprinted on the clock meaning it was time for Hinata to go and get ready for his upcoming day of school. His mornings were pretty routined, get up, get dressed, eat breakfast finishing doing everything else like packing for school and off he goes on his bike.
Due to his bike rides in the morning Hinata is able to gather enough energy for the day. He also treats it was a morning stamina workout as he has to ride his bike over a mountain everyday just to get to school and back.
It doesn't feel like a long time to Hinata to get into the school grounds. He locks up his bike and starts heading his way towards the gym, already hyped up for the morning practise he will be able to enjoy.
Not to his surprise he spots Kageyama coming towards his direction also heading for the gym.
For a split second eye contact is made which activated their fimilar race of who can get to the gym first. They both start sprinting toward the entrance even if they don't have access yet to go inside. But it doesn't matter to them because it's all a competition. Their determination caused the two boys to bolt with all the strength they have, pushing each other in the process to gain as much lead as possible.
As the boys start to uncontrollably rush to the door, one right behind the other, overtaking each other every second Hinata accidentally trips over Kageyama's foot causing both of them to fall on each other.

Hinata ended up in top of Kageyama, both grunting in pain as their bodies slammed together. Kageyama opened his eyes after the pain left his body, realising the heavy weight on top of him was Hinata looking down at him, his eyes wide like a cartoon character and his cheeks a light pink as he froze realising the awkward position they were in.
Hinata's arms were on either side of Kageyama not giving him much space to move around. His fluffy hair fell onto his face making him look even more embarrassed than he was before, like he's trying to hide away from Kageyama's fierce, yet innocent glare.
Hinata's huge brown eyes were staring right back at Kageyama's. Kageyama could feel himself getting a little hot which also probably ment he was also going a bit red on the face from embarrassment.
Their faces were so close to each other that they almost touched, yet neither of the boys had the courage to pull away leaving them staring into each other's twinkling eyes.
They could hear and feel each other's heavy breathing bouncing off each other's face. Their thundering heart synced up and were beating harder than ever, it felt like when they are about to go play a game in the tournament, yet somehow this was different.
The silence around them added to the situation as no one was yet on the school grounds except from them. It felt like time had stopped and even though it must have been only a few seconds that they layed in that position, it felt like minutes went by.
Kageyama felt a weird sensation in his stomch, like there were butterflies flapping their wings around him. He didn't understand what this ment but in a special way it kinda felt nice. It was something he had never gotten before in his life, he just couldn't grasp this new emotion.

Finally Kageyama found the courage to break the silence between the two volleyball players.
"W-watch were you're going you dumbass." Kageyama finally coughed out. Pushing Hinata of of him so he could get up and brush himself off. You could tell his voice was a little shakey but he didn't understand completely why. It was just an accident, things like this happen, why was it all of a sudden such a big deal?
"I-I'm sorry Kageyama." Trembled Hinata, also getting up. His cheeks still red and hot. He sat down next to Kageyama on the steps to the gym.
No snarky comment? Kageyama thought to himself. It wasn't normal for Hinata to just apologise to him but he decided to just leave the matter and sit with him.
Thankfully Suga and Daichi came right on time, laughing with each other about things they've discussed previously. As they made their way to the two boys sitting on the step, Suga confused asked "Why are you both sitting here? Don't you normally already start practicing outside? And why are you both so red?"
The last comment definitely didn't put help the situation any better as both boys started feeling the warmth in their face build up again. They kept quiet not knowing how to respond and just blankly stared back at Suga like he just said something unnatural.
"Come on guys, just get in. We want to practice at much as we can before lessons starts" Daichi laughed looking at their state. He shrugged his shoulders at Suga unable to explain their strange behavior at the moment and made his way inside.
The setter and the spiker made their way after them like some lost puppies, giving each other awkward glasnces from time to time.
Soon enough the rest of the team joined their morning practice and before they knew it they had to get ready for lessons.
Amazing the duo was still able to practice with minimal mistakes made. After all nothing could get in the way of their passion for volleyball.

This was my entry for National Novel Writing Month, because why only write one series at a time? The more the merrier! (meanwhile, my keyboard bursts into flames...) I'm also the writer of The Last Science, an ongoing low-fantasy/speculative sci-fi series. If you're familiar with that, you know what to expect here: lots of character-focused drama and dialogue, not a whole lot of traditional action. However, I'm writing a bit differently than usual here, and in a very different structure, so there should be some surprises for returning readers. I hope you enjoy it! [Discord] — for those of you who want to hang out and chat. Cover art (fullsize): Path of Revelation, by taenaron (Tobias Roetsch), modified by Etzoli. Normally I like to do my own cover art from scratch, but I was in a rush for the contest. Might be replaced down the line if I get time.
