《Only Mine (Kagehina) (Kageyama x Hinata)》Chapter 16

It has been 2 weeks since the accident took place, Kageyama was still in a coma, yet he was stable and his heart was beating. That was the piece of hope that drived Hinata the past days, there was still a chance he could come back to him.
After a lot of convincing, Hinata finaly left Kageyama's side and went home but that didnt stop him from visiting him everyday after school grasping onto the hope that this time it would be different and he would find him smiling again, gazing at Hinata with those dark, ocean eyes. However, that never happened. Everyday Hinata sat by Kagayemas side and held his hand close to his face, trying to feel the warmth that still hasn't escaped his body. He would often find himself silently crying, tears dropping all over the bed, yet he didn't make any noise trying not to alarm anyone that was walking past their room.
Today Hinata continued his new ruitine and made his way to the hospital, again his hope lingering at the back of his mind, maybe this time it would be different. It didn't take long for him to reach the hospital, to his surprise Kageyama's parents weren't there who usally left the moment Hinata entered. It was like an exchange of visitors for Kageyama, someone was always there for him even if he didn't know about it.
Cousiously Hinata made his way to Kagayama's room. Just a few more steps away when a doctor who was fimilar with Hinata stopped him.
A smile. There was a smile on his face. Hinata's heart started racing, he couldn't believe it, was he finally awake? Before the doctor said anything Hinata sprinted towards the room and stood in the entrance. He heard the Doctor call for him but he decided to ignore it, he had to see for himself if the reason he was smiling was what Hinata was thinking.
Kageyama's family was huddled around his bed and Hinata could feel himself not able to move, he still couldn't see Kageyama with everyone around him but he could hear his voice. His beautiful voice. Hinata didn't realise how much he has missed that voice.

Kageyama's mum turned around and saw Hinata pearing around the doorframe and pulled away the rest of the family so that they could give them space. Once they left the room Hinata walked over to Kageyama, their eyes met and Hinata could feel his heart feel heavy waiting for someone to break the silence. Hinata was about to lunge himself into Kageyama's arms when he finally spoke out.
"I remember you!" What. Hinata thought.
"Well of course you remember me I'm-"
"You're the guy that I played against back in my old school! But- why are you here." Hinata's brain couldn't process what was going on. Why can't he rememb- "oh yeah, um- during my accident I lost my memory from the past 10 months, I probably should have told you this before. Are we close? Is that why you're here?" Hinata could hear his own heart break, his eyes were wide and it took everything for him not to start tearing up.
"You- you don't remember?" Hinata continued, still unable to process eveything that happened in the past 2 minutes. He doesn't remember we were together.
"No sorry, your Hinata right? You could jump really high. Are we- friends?" The word friends came out really shyly, Hinata instantly remembered what Kageyama's past was like and how his other teammates treated him. It wouldn't be a surprise that Kageyama wouldn't believe that he has actually made a friend.
"We're partners." Hinata said without thinking, he felt selfish for feeling anger that Kageyama couldn't remember him, at the end of the day he saved him, it's not his fault.
"Volleyball partners?" Hinata blushed at Kageyama's response.
"Yeah, Volleyball partners." He replied, forcing himself to release one of his famous smiles to lighten the mood, he couldn't get himslef to tell him the truth. There was something holding him back from telling him about their whole relationship. It tore Hinata apart knowing the fact that Kageyama lost all the memories that they have created with each other.

"So umm. How is our team?" Kageyama said, trying to break the somewhat awkward silence. Kageyama wasn't someone who would strike a conversation, however looking at the situation and seeing how this orange haired boy was glaring down something inside him told him that Hinata must have been an important person to him, he wanted to find out everything that he has forgotten especially if it had to do with Hinata who clearly cares more than he was showing on the outside.
Hinata started thinking about all the things that have happened since him and Kageyama started playing on the same team. The ups and downs they had, how they became one of the most iconic duo. It was nice to go back in time and reflect on what has happened the past few months. Hinata kept repeating how amazing Kageyama is and how he has learned how to work as a team, how he was freinds with everyone on the team, how much he has improved in terms of teamwork and was now one of the most important players in the team.
Hearing all the praise made Kageyama blush seeing how much Hinata really cared about him and that he was actually able to make some true friends. He couldn't believe the person he became, it was like talking about a completely different person. Not that it was a bad thing, Kageyama was quite pleased with himself that he was able to come from a dark past and improve to overcome his fears.
After talking for some time, hours have past and the sun soon set meaning Hinata had to get home.
Once Hinata finally lay on his bed he let everything that happened today sink in. He stared at his ceiling as his thought buzzed around like some bees, annoying him. Hinata turned around to his side, curled up, reality set in. He doesn't remember me. He kept repeating that to himself. At that moment he could feel the tears setting in his eyes again, he wanted his boyfriend back, and he will do everything to make that happen. Hinata was determined to help Kageyama remember his past even if it might not be possible. And if that never happens he will try everything to get their relationship back to what it was before. His feeling towards Kageyama were too strong to let it all go just like that, yet he still felt so hopeless.
Suddenly, his phone light up and Hinata grabbed it to see who has texted him at such a late hour.
Hey Hinata, I was looking through my phone and saw that I have your number saved. Looking at our texts, it looks like we really were close. You must have been special to me and I'm sorry that I can't remember it. I just wanted to say thank you for everything you have done for me, I really appreciate that you care for me so much. It's weird thinking that in just 10 months my life has changed so much. Tomorrow morning I should be discharged from the hospital, if you want we could meet up and you could help me maybe trigger my memory. Goodnight
Kageyama.
Hinata couldn't tell if he was crying from happiness or sadness at this point. Probably both, he could tell Kageyama still cared about him even if he didn't have all his memories and that was all he needed to boost his confidence in helping him regain his memories. He agreed to meet up with him the next day and with that he went to sleep, looking forward to the next day. Finally he was able to be back with Kageyama wether that's as friends or lovers and that's what was important at the moment.
