《Living a Lie {Anakin Skywalker x Reader}》2

Padmé decided she wanted to sleep, so I went out to Anakin. Obi Wan was on a call on the balcony.
"How did you get a job to watch over the Senator? For a Padawan, that is a major duty. One you should be proud of." Anakin praised.
"Thank you, but why I got the job is not something I like to talk about," I look at the floor. Memories of my Master, Roland Argus rush to my head. The reason I protect Padmé is because when Argus left the Jedi Order, I had no where to go. So they sent me to protect her as some charity project. That's nothing to be proud of.
"I'm sorry," Anakin frowned.
I shook my head, "don't be."
We sat in silence.
"(Y/N), I remember meeting you that day five years ago. You... changed me," he said mysteriously.
"I changed you?" I laugh. "And how would I do that?"
He looked at me with the same sparkle he had when he looked at Padmé, "I saw beauty much differently that day."
I didn't know how to respond. What was I supposed to say? I barely knew him for more than 30 seconds and he's already telling me how I "changed" him. "Thanks," I said awkwardly.
He stared at me, but I kept my gaze on the floor. Obi Wan approached us.
"What is happening?" Obi Wan asked as he tried to watch the surveillance in Padmé's room.
"She covered the cameras," I answered.
"What is she thinking?" Obi Wan furrowed his eyebrows.
"I don't think she liked me watching her, Master," Anakin looked at him.
"She programmed Artoo to alert us if there is an intruder," I told Obi Wan.
Obi Wan approached Padmé's room, "there are many other ways to kill a Senator."
"I know, but we also want to catch this assassin. Don't we, Master?" Anakin said.
Obi Wan's eyes widened, "you're using her as bait."
"It was her idea," Anakin explained.
"Don't worry," I start, "no harm will come to her. I can sense everything going on in that room. Trust me."
Obi Wan looked back at her room, "it's too risky. Besides, your senses are not quite attuned yet, (Y/N)."
"And yours are?" Anakin defends me.
"Possibly," Obi Wan mocks.
*****
We stand outside on the balcony.
"You look tired," I tell Anakin.
"I don't sleep much anymore," Anakin plays with a bolt on the handrail.
"Because of your mother?" Obi Wan asks.
Anakin nods, "I don't know why I keep dreaming about her."
Obi Wan walks closer to us, "dreams pass in time."
"I much rather dream about" Anakin looks at me, "...(Y/N)." And he walks away from the balcony into the sitting area. My heart begins to race. I stay onto the balcony, but can still hear them.
"Just being around her again... It's... Intoxicating," Anakin says.
Obi Wan walks with Anakin, "be mindful of your thoughts Anakin, they betray you. You've made a commitment to the Jedi Order, a commitment not easily broken. And she's had a terrible past, and known for creating attachments. She's not to be relied on."

"She will not turn out like other Jedi with her similar fate," Anakin defends me.
I walk in to defend myself, "my commitment is to the Order, Kenobi. I would never betray us."
"Master, your generalizing. Qui Gon did not seem to rush to your aid anytime you were in need of help," Anakin said. I don't know who this Qui Gon is.
There was hurt in Obi Wan's eyes, "Qui Gon was much different, Anakin. We were close but he respected my opinion on the Order's views"
"I think he's as subject to suspect as (Y/N). She --" Anakin turned to Padmé's room, with worry on his face.
"I sense it too," I said. While igniting our lightsabers, we sprinted to Padmé's room, and Anakin hopped onto the bed, slicing two slugs.
"You alright?" I ask Padmé.
"I -- I think so," she stumbles.
Obi Wan saw the droid outside Padmé's window, and jumped out after it.
"Stay here!" I tell Padmé and run out into the hall, Anakin not too far behind.
We reached a line of speeders. "Ah, yellow," he looked at me with a grin. I laughed.
We hopped in and took off. Anakin was a very... Reckless driver, to say the least. I love flying, and I'm not too bad myself, but with the air traffic and open cockpit, I felt I was going to fly right out. Anakin saw Obi Wan falling through mid air and dove down. My stomach churned as we raced towards the ground.
Obi Wan landed on the back, and pushed me into the middle.
"What took you so long?" Obi Wan shouted over the traffic.
"You know, Master Kenobi, we had to find the perfect speeder, with an open cockpit, and the perfect speed capabilities," I tease. Obi Wan shakes his head.
Anakin dives down into the direction of a big ship in the way. Is he insane? We are going to crash and die!
"Pull up, Anakin! Pull up!" Obi Wan demands, but Anakin just laughs.
As we are about to crash to our death, Anakin pulls the speeder up hard, causing me to clutch onto anything I can grab hold of. Until I realize I grabbed Anakin's leg, making this day more uncomfortable than it already is.
Obi Wan looks sick, "you know I don't like it when you do that."
"Sorry, Master. I forgot you don't like flying," Anakin says nonchalantly.
"I don't mind flying," a ship comes close and Obi Wan leans into the middle, "but what you are doing is suicide!"
"Are you crazy?!" I shout over the traffic. "You could of gotten us killed! No help would that do for Padmé!"
We continue the chase, and power uplinks activate, and we get electrocuted. Anakin turns in the complete opposite direction of where the assassin is going.
"What are you doing?" I ask him.
Anakin looks at me, "if we continue this chase any longer, this creep will end up deep fried. And we want answers, don't we?"
We drive around, and still no sign of the assassin.

"Then where is he?" I say, gesturing towards the ships in front of us. The assassins ship was not to be seen.
"He's gone! Anakin what were you doing?" Obi Wan scoffed.
Anakin sighed, "I was taking a short cut... I thought."
Obi Wan shook his head, "you thought?"
"I hoped," Anakin said embarrassed.
"Well now we lost him!" Obi Wan said.
"I'm deeply sorry, Master," Anakin shook his head, upset with himself.
We hover there for another minute or so. Anakin looks over the side of the ship.
Anakin looks at us, "well, if you'll excuse me." Then he jumped out of the speeder.
"Anakin!" I yell. I watch Anakin free fall, until I see he lands on the assassins ship.
Obi Wan crossed his arms, "I hate it when he does that."
Thrusting the wheel down, I take control of the ship, leveling myself with Anakin. As he tries to cut through the ship, I watch with unease. This guy is insane.
My eye catches a glimpse of metal, and I reach my hand out to grab Anakin's lightsaber.
"His lightsaber," I hand it to Obi Wan. He sighs and shakes his head. Anakin must be a pain to have. Then I see the ship begin to smoke, and Anakin and it plummet towards the ground. My heart does the same. I take the speeder downwards at a steep angle. Looking over at Obi Wan, who is clearly fed up with all this flying, I laugh. We land just feet away from where Anakin crashed.
I search through the crowd of people swarming, until I find him running. "Anakin!" I yell out. I decide to chase after him.
"(Y/N)!" I hear Obi Wan call after me, but I keep running. When I finally catch up to Anakin, he's standing outside a nightclub.
"He went in here," he gestures for us to go in, "let's go."
I grab his arm, "no Ill go in. You wait for Obi Wan."
He looks down at my hand and I immediately release my grip. "No. Why don't we both just wait for -- there you are," he says when Obi Wan gets to us.
"He went in the club, Master," Anakin informs his Master. He starts to walk in.
Obi Wan stops him, "patience, Anakin. Use the Force: he didn't come in here to run, he came in here to hide."
"Good thinking, Master. You ready?" Anakin looks at me.
"I think you'll need this," Obi Wan hands Anakin his lightsaber. "Anakin, never shall you lose this. This weapon is your life."
And for the thousandth time, Mr. Skywalker everybody, "I'm sorry, Master." This day I've heard him say he's sorry at LEAST 100 times.
We walk into the club, and the first thing I want to do is get out of here.
"Bunch of lowlifes," I mutter.
"What?" Anakin asks. I shake my head, telling him it's not important.
Obi Wan looks around, "do you see him?"
"Master, I think he is she. I think she's a changeling," Anakin tells Obi Wan.
"In that case be extra careful," he looks at us. "Go and find her." He begins to walk away.
I raise an eyebrow, "and where are you going?"
Obi Wan turns around, "for a drink." He walks over to the bar, obviously annoyed with the events of this night.
"I say we split up," I tell Anakin.
Anakin smiles, "good plan. We'll cover more ground." I walk in to the left and he goes to the right. I'm walking and searching, when a hand grabs me.
"Pretty lady, you look lonely. I can change that," the man holding my arm says.
I tug my arm from his grip, but it's too strong, "let go, you crazy drunk!"
He pulls me into him so my body is practically on his, "oh no, baby. Can't do that."
"I said let go!" I pull my arm free and walk away. He comes back up and grabs my arm again. This is where I punch him, sending him backwards. His hand immediately reaches for his jaw, that's already turned purple. The whole entire club goes silent, and I turn around to see Anakin watching in shock.
"Go back to your drinks," I tell everyone. I walk over to Anakin.
He touches my arm, "are you alright? Did he hurt you?" I can feel the warmth of his touch. It's exhilarating.
"I think I'm fine," I look down at his hand and blush. Suddenly, I hear a lightsaber being ignited, followed by a woman's scream.
"Obi Wan," Anakin says, and we run to the bar. The assassin lay on the ground, clutching her arm, where her hand is missing. The club once again, goes silent.
"Nothing to see here," I inform everyone.
Anakin speaks up, "Jedi business, go back to your drinks." And the noise starts to pick up. We took her outside to talk.
"Do you know who it was you were trying to kill?" Obi Wan asked her.
"A senator from Naboo," she answered hastily.
Obi Wan furrowed his eyebrows, "who are you working for?"
"It was just a job," the assassin answered.
I speak up, "who are you working for?" No answer. I try again, calmer, "please, tell us who you're working for."
Obi Wan looks at me, "patience."
That obviously didn't go through to Anakin, because he yells at her. "Who are you working for? Tell us!" But, ironic enough, she speaks up.
"A bounty hunter named--" then a dart strikes her in the neck and her body slumps. She morphed back to her original state. Anakin was right, she was a changeling. So much for that I think. We all turn and look at the building above us, where a figure in silver and blue Madalorian armor flies off.
Obi Wan took the metal out of her neck, "toxic dart."
