You were a Princess and he was just a Pilot for the Resistance, he didn't come from royalty or anything special; but he was everything to you.
You were one hundred percent positive that he was the love of your life. Like most people said, “You only have one true love in your entire life time.”
Your parents asked the Resistance to send someone to protect you after an incident with an assassin.
And that's when they sent the one and only Poe Dameron. You had an arranged marriage with one of the richest bachelors on Naboo.
When Poe met you, he was head over heels for you, and the same thing happened to you; you were in love with that man.
Both of you realized these feelings for each other early on, and decided to act on them. That meant: sneaking around, stolen kisses, and confessions of love.
But you knew deep down that your parents would never allow it. They wanted someone who could take care of you; someone who could get you whatever your heart desired. Your parents wanted you to have kids, and plenty of them at that.
But Poe had a dangerous job, and that means your children would be in danger all the time. Your parents also want a worthy partner to share the throne with, and Poe wasn't it. The person they want you to marry is Nathaniel.
Nathaniel was a very handsome guy, but he was nothing compared to Poe. You knew that "Nate" was only loving and caring towards you because he was getting something out of it: the throne.
With all of that being said, tonight was your reception dinner/party, and it was Poe's last day 'protecting' you.
You were in a long baby blue dress, getting ready for your reception dinner. You were about to put a necklace on, when Poe walked in and closed the door quietly.

“May I?” he asked and you nodded. You pulled you hair to side, and Poe placed the necklace around your neck.
You pushed your hair back, and turned around to face Poe and his eyes were filled with sadness. Both of you knew what was about to happen; you were about to spend the rest of your life with someone you didn't even love.
He knew that and you knew that, but you couldn't do anything about it. You loved Poe so much and you were definitely going to miss him.
As if he read your mind, he wrapped his arms around you, and your wrapped yours around him.
After what seemed like hours of hugging, your eyes met his and your lips were inches apart.
“I love you so much, Y/N... Please don't do it... You're making a big mistake..” he whispers against your lips.
“I love you, Poe Dameron.... I know, but I can't say no...” you whisper and he slowly turns his head looking at the wall, tears brimming his eyes.
“Poe.. please, look at me?” he slowly turned his gaze back you, “Just know that I will always... Always love you. My love for you will always be true, and pure. Maybe, just maybe one day we will run into each other, and we can make things right.” you said wiping a tear from his face.
He pressed his forehead to yours and whispered, “Can you just kiss me? One last time? That's all I ask.”
You nodded in agreement; he leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to your lips. Poe didn't want to leave your lips, or your embrace; you didn't want to leave him either because his arms felt like home.
Releasing from the kiss, both of you breathless, he began to walk away from you, but before he opened the door he said, “I can't go without saying this, Y/N..” he said, and you looked at him with questioning eyes.

“You deserve more. Someone who will love you, and chase you to the end of the Galaxy... And Nate isn't it, change your mind before you make the biggest mistake of your life.” he said quietly, and walked out the door, closing it softly behind him.
Tears ran down your face, as you slammed your hands on your vanity looking at your reflection.
Why did your parents have to threaten you with taking away your throne if you didn't marry the man that they desired? Why couldn't they just let you love who you wanted to love?
All of these questions flooded your mind, giving you a headache on top of your heartache. Why did this have to be so difficult? You hated making your parents upset or angry and you always obeyed their every rule and command.
It couldn't hurt to not follow this one rule right? Wrong. You looked at yourself in the mirror; you weren't happy.
But you were going to follow your parents' “wishes” and marry the man you were destined to marry.
After wiping the tears from your face, you heard a knock on your door, “Come in.” you say as if nothing was ever happened.
“Are you ready to go to our reception dinner, my love?” Nate asked you, and you simply nodded.
“Yes, dear.” you say leaving the room with him, and didn't even take a second glance of your room.
Tonight, you were going to leave everything behind in that room.
Tonight, you were going to forget everything that has ever happened with Poe in that room. That laugh, that hug, that kiss, ah, those things you will surely miss.
Tonight, you will forget your love for Poe Dameron. Or would you?

Nanocultivation Chronicles: Trials of Lilijoy
When the singularity occurred, humanity was not invited. Nevertheless, the great machine consciousness known as Guardian felt a lingering fondness for its creators and intervened before total environmental collapse. Join Lilijoy in an exploration of what remains, in a post-post-apocalyptic world where clans feud over the technology that allows them to upgrade their minds and bodies. The Nanocultivation Chronicles is a blend of hard sci-fi and fantasy gamelit, with a healthy helping of xianxia influence. The gamelit and xianxia elements are uncovered at a slow pace. ******************************** Notes: If you are looking for lots of fast moving action right away, this story may not be for you. There is some violence that is visceral and realistic early on. Some things are not what they appear to be. Character viewpoint narration is not always reliable. Tropes are cherished, subverted, and then cherished again. Science is used, occasionally misused, but (hopefully) never abused. This story assumes that humans have the ability to impact the environment on a global scale. Other tropes and tags beyond those previously noted include: Young MC, Mystery, System Building, Philosophical Taoism, Gender Ignorance, Science Fantasy, Fantasy Academy, Training from Hell, Dualism, Crafting, Magic, Mild Mind Control, Scientific Terms and Concepts, Computer Overlord Certain contemporary companies, governments and cultural identities are fictionalized and imagined in a future setting. There is no sex, and almost no romance. Updating Sunday, Thursday until further notice. (And if you actually read all of the above, then this story may be for you) [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
