Asahi was—no scratch that,Asahi is still devestated. He felt after that one match against Date Tech, he blamed himself and left without a proper reasoning.

Of course as his girlfriend, you were surprised when you found out he left and didn't tell you. Though thanks to the other 3rd years, they informed you.

You angrily stomped your way towards his class, with the glare and visible scowl plastered on you, it was easy enough for the students to understand you were pissed and let you pass.

This was his last year, one last year to convince him back into volleyball.

Although that made it sound like you're pushy, but in reality, you knew he still wanted to play, he still wanted the feeling of accomplishment everytime his spikes went and broke through.

"ASAHI AZUMANE!" almost everyone in his class flinched in both surprise and fear after hearing the tone of your voice though, you're quite the opposite of Asahi anyways so it wasn't really a big surprise to most of them.

Out of surprise, your bearded lover yelped before falling down from his chair with a loud grunt, also frowning in the process as he looks to your direction with a questioning expression.

"Y-Y/n-San?" He slightly stutters, surprised to see you in the door way with a scowl which he was mostly afraid of but a bit used to it as well, you're L/n Y/n after all.

You jabbed your thumb behind you, "Talk." you turned your back from him and walked away as Asahi sighs lightly, gulping a bit before standing up, nervously scratching the back of his head.

'I-is she mad..?'

He almost pouted at his own thoughts, thinking that he may have done something wrong to upset you, let alone make you incensed.

With a small whimper of nervousness, he walked out of the classroom, to see you tapping a foot impatiently and the same scowl on your face which made him sweat drop.

"C-could it be that time of the month..?" He thought to himself, but disagreed and shaked his head after realising you've already finished it.

Asahi looked at you and smiled cheekily, "Hi." he greeted innocently which almost broke you the moment he did but kept your cool anyways with a click of a tounge.

"Don't 'hi.' me Azumane." you glared as sweat formed on his forehead, "D-did I do something?" he mentally Slapped himself for asking that, why else would you be so tempered if he hadn't?

"Azumane Asahi." you called out, squinting your eyes. "I demand you to go to the gym." you paused to get closer to him with a small lean.

"And get back as their ace." his mouth agape, wanting to say "That's it? Easy!" but closed it again after remembering the past game they had before.

Asahi took a deep breath and sighed, turning his back in you. "I-I'm sorry." he glances at you by the shoulder.

"I'm not close to being the

so called ace."

"Could you believe that Koshi?!" you ranted, grunting and gritting your teeth as you still wore a scowl, annoyed.

Sugawara wore a small smile though it was obvious that he was also disappointed by what the ace had said. "Well it can't be helped.." he paused as his smile grew wider, his eyes closed.

"But were not gonna give up, aren't we?" with a small sigh you nodded, entering the class with Sugawara another day to convice Asahi.

The only difference from yesterday is that Sugawara decided to help out. After all, he's also affected by the sudden leave of the 3rd year ace.

Coincidentally, your lover was just about to leave the classroom. "Ah perfect timing." Asahi raised a brow before realising what the two of you barged in for.

"Asahi, come on! Just come back already." Suga basically pleaded with hopeful eyes after noticing the silence of the tall male but frowned after listening to his next words.

"I'm sorry but I'll only get in the way of the team." just as you were about to protest, he was called and left the room, you and Suga trailing behind him like lost puppies in a park.

"Eh? Hinata? Kageyama?" you asked, noticing the two presence who were just standing infront of the classroom, probably bickering right before the door slid open.

Sugawara smiled and introduced the two of them, explaining that they were new and telling h about matches while waving at the two which the orange head had sparkles practically glowing around him after noticing the ace.

"Nice to meet you, I wish you both good luck." Asahi says with a small smile but almost immediately disappeared when Hinata replied.

"Eh? Aren't you gonna play with us? I wanna see a real ace!" Hinata paused and points to himself with a proud smile, "Before i beat you!" the bearded male sighed.

Asahi intertwined your hands with his out of nervousness, "I'm sorry." he turned his back, you beside him with a frown.

"Did he perhaps injure himself?"

"Oh-Kageyama? Ah actually, no..we think that he learned to hate volleyball.."

"OWA? HATE VOLLEYBALL?!"

You sigh lightly with a small smile as you walk home with your lover, he offered to walk you home today which you happily accepted with no hesitation.

Just as you two walked, a volleyball came flying to your direction which your lover panicked and quickly recieved it, earning a thanks from the kids who were playing.

Asahi looked at his hand like he just accomplished something great, but immediately pulled back when he remembers you were still here.

He cleared his throat and continued walking, pretending like nothing happened but you walked beside him with a grin.

"Oi."

"Hn?" He hummed, already having an idea on what you wanted to talk about. "You don't hate volleyball." you paused to look at him.

"Do you?" He stared at you in slight suroise before turning away. "I do.. But if this is about returning to the team I will have to reject.." he frowns.

You were about to protest but smirked anyways, holding his hand as you scratch the back of your head with the other whilst wearing a mocking expression in your face.

"Okay sure, but if you wanna stop by—"

"I don't think I would.."

"But if you wanna stop by, you're always welcome." you ignored his interject as you smiled lightly. "Just don't get caught by Daichi if you don't want problems."

"Yikes!" Asahi shrieked as Daichi looked offended, walking after the bearded male who was visibly afraid of the team captain.

"What do you mean 'yikes!' get back here!" the captain demanded, a bit offended as Asahi tried to somehow escape.

"B-but you-you're scary when you're angry!"

"Eh?! I'm not mad!" Asahi pouted, disappointed in himself after being caught watching Hinata and Kageyama practice in the gym.

Your lover looked down on the ground, "Nekoma.. Huh.." he muttered, after learning the practice match between the two schools.

"Why don't you go to the match? It's a rare opportunity for us to face against them." Asahi being himself, rejected the offer, telling the captain he lost face with both the official Setter, Sugawara and the libero, Nishinoya.

Daichi blinked for few time sbefore letting out a quick laugh, "You need to stop being a wimp," the captain paused and sighed.

"If you still liked volleyball, that would be enough reason for you to come back." and with that, Daichi waved the ace goodbye and walked away.

You clapped your hands, "I better not see any slacking!"

"Hai!" you smiled, you always loved how the team are always so passionate, even if it's just jogging around some places.

Remembering your talk with Daichi when he caught your bearded lover earlier, you looked around the gym, hoping that he would come walking in.

He didn't. Which made you slightly disappointed.

"Are they always like this.." you hear the new coach mutter to you, which you earlier found out his name was Ukai.

You glanced at where his gaze was and see Kageyama and Hinata, challenging each other who could do the exercises faster.

With slight embarassment you chuckled and nodded which made him sigh but shrug after, clapping his hands to get the attention which he did.

"I expect all of you to get ready before a practice match happens between the association team." they all nodded and did completely different things.

It wasn't too long before the opposing team walked in with smiling confident faces, some of them breathing air like it was somehow nostalgic for them to be back at a gym to play.

Nishinoya coincidentally was there and was forced to stay, only because the opposing team had few players and was needed a libero.

"Eh? Asahi-San!" they all turned their heads. I meant all of them did, including you.

Both you and Sugawara secretly fist bumped, knowing one day this would happen.

"Eh? Get in here! You were almost late!" Asahi waves his hands around, shaking his head in the process. "A-ah! I'm not going to play!"

"Why? Are you injured?" Ukai asked, eyeing your lover up and down to see if there was any problems but found none.

"N-no but i—"

"Then get in here!" Asahi gulped and sighed, knowing he wouldn't get out of this problem and just decided to give in.

With just foot when he entered, the atmosphere changed between the 2nd years and 3rd years, the volleyball team felt motivated more than ever, including you.

Ukai claps his hands, motioning for everyone to get into position which they obeyed quite quickly without any second thoughts.

Asahi was visibly shaking, noticing the glare Nishinoya was slightly radiating as he turns his gaze to you, frowning before he showed a pout.

You chuckled and waved, mouthing an 'Do your best' to him which he sighs at and just gives you a small thumbs up.

Sugawara ended up volunteering to be in the association's team, which Kageyama was at first hesitant to accept but brushed it off after the 3rd year gave him a smile that was basically close to a sunshine and reassuring words.

Just before the match started, Asahi looked at you, wanting nothing more than just to hug you and run away which was visible due to his facial expression that he showed which you felt bad at first but brushed it off with a smile.

Right away. To your surprise, Takinoue scores with Sugawara's toss. You were close enough to hear the setter scold the libero nicely.

"Nishinoya-San, you need to put

more effort in your play. So that we don't need to solely rely on our ace."

You can't help but smile, even though Asahi gave up that title of his, almost everyone including you didn't care and continued on calling him an ace.

With a small sigh, you turned your gaze to your lover who seemed to be watching the interaction between the libero and the setter. Although he didn't say it out loud, you knew he noticed that Sugawara has grown dependable and that he's already dissing himself.

You frowned, 2 years of dating him has its perks. Reading him is as easy like an open book just by his obvious expressions.

"Love?"

"Yes babe?"

"Do you hate being with the team?"

"..."

"I love being with the team."

"Why don't you come back then?"

"..."

"If I can't score a point then calling me an ace would be useless."

"I'm only a burden to the team."

A heavy sigh escaped your lips as you remember your yesterday's conversation. But your thinking state was replaced with a surprise one.

"W-what was that?!" one of the opponents whine out.

Oh, the quick the duo was praciting on..

You winced, Asahi was once again blocked from his spike. A time out was ordered as the bearded male jogged over to you, frowning.

Placing a hand on his shoulder you smiled, "Its alright, you'll get them next time." he sighed and looked down, hugging you hy the waist as he rests his head on your shoulder.

"But what If I don't..?"

"But what if you do?"

Surprised, both you and Asahi turned your head to see Sugawara, hands on his hips with his motherly smile, Nishinoya next to him with a small grin after sighing.

"I'll get blocked again, as usual."Suga shrugged, sighing. "So what? Not everything goes what you think it would."

"But what if—"

"

What if what that what is, doesn't matter. You're the ace, not a quitter. Two different things." Suga scolded as Nishinoya laughed.

"Stop being a wimp Asahi." and with that, the two walked away without any other words.

Asahi blinked and turned to you, "But what if I get b—"

"Then keep going until you break through, be Karasuno's ace." you were about to kiss him on the forehead before your name was called, you waved and jogged away.

You frowned, Asahi's spoke was once again blocked. But it was replaced with a smile, hearing the interaction between the libero and the ace.

"Toss to me, if I miss keep going!"

He got blocked.

Again.

Again.

Again.

He jumped, determination in his eyes as the word "ace" was repeated in his head, with a huff, he spiked.

And broke through the blockers.

The gym fell silent before the 2nd years and 3rd years, including Hinata. Ran to him, tackling him in a hug with cheers.

Asahi clenched his fist, confidence radiating out of his body as he stared at his hand.

He knows no matter how many blocks he gets, he will have an in him.
