Sobs and cries filled the quiet and dark room of the grand king of volleyball, the opened curtain along with the shining moon was the the only light source that was available inside. A hand over the back of his head that buried itself into his knees - placed near his chest as he sat on the cold floorboards of his own bedroom, his feet growing glacial by having no cover for his feet.
This was just the normal night routine for the captain, he would go to school with a confident and bright shining smile - showing dependence by each step he took in everywhere he goes to. Even if it was just the hallways, he would be willing to stop in his tracks to give students unnecessary attention and heed to just unknowingly up boost his already peaked reputation.
At the afternoon, he would repeat his steps. Flash a smile, give the people what they wanted from him and just walk away after, it was just like the world had favoured him the most. Everyone he knew excluding his girlfriend - you- and Iwaizumi, would call him the luckiest person.
Who wouldn't? At such a youthful age like his, he had already received and achieved such known popularity - an appearance that would make both genders stop in their tracks to just admire him in a distance that he would either notice or won't. A high class skill in a difficult to study sport, a supportive school along with his best friends and a loving girlfriend he wouldn't even dare to leave.
He was overall a good person with a good personality, he should be ectsatic on what he owned right now. Anyone would be lucky enough to have the same achievement he had.
But he isn't.
At night, he was a completely different person. Eyes bloodshot red from all the tears he had shed, tired eyes that desperately wanted to close and rest, his body trembling in both anxiety and fear - he wasn't the man you would see in the bright broads of daylight, he wasn't the confident, flirtatious male you had expected to encounter.
Inside, he was suffering from his own pitiful feelings. His own insecurities eating him up alive, from dissing his looks down to his body - up to the point he was questioning himself;

'Why am I even alive anymore.' Oikawa Tooru, was the least expected person you would think would say this thoughts out loud. He was trying his best to give signs of his issues but no one seemed to listen to him, despite Iwaizumi being fully aware of the captain's difficulties. He had always thought he was a burden to the ace's thoughts and tried his best to reassure that everything was okay.
No one would be there to comfort him at night, parents were away for the month and his siblings weren't present for the time being either. His friends were already sleeping, he has no shoulder to cry on.
A small hiccup escaped his lips, glancing towards his buzzing phone placed top of his night stand making him weakly stand up to walk towards it, not even bothering to check who the called I.D belonged to - covering up his dejected and broken voice with a rather 'euphoric' one. Clearing his throat to prevent any signs of him breaking down in the midst of midnight, readying his so called 'happy' tone.
"Hiii~ Oikawa Tooru is h—"
"Shut up with the fake tone, open the door." he dropped his phone to the ground, not giving the slightest care if it were to crack open, before rushing over to the wooden door as he didn't hesitate slamming it open, seeing a familiar e/c orbs looking straight at his exhausted one's.
"I knew something was wrong," You started off, ending the call that was still going on before turning to face him once again. "That's why I asked your parents to give me a extra key," his mouth agape, no words escaped or even a small sound of whimper was heard from the brunette.
Eyeing him up and down, you felt your eyes soften, heart clenched at the sight of your own lover being destroyed by his own mind. Clothes dishevelled along with his messy yet beautiful brown colored hair, his eyes that showed he was starting to become an insomniac and his trembling figure was something no one had expected to witness from the infamous Oikawa.
The volleyball player managed to give you a small sad smile, stepping aside on his doorway to create a quick gesture for you to enter. Seeing as letting you stay in the hallways wasn't really a good idea.

Accepting his little offer, you looked around the dark room - seeing as the bright moon was giving you a small help of viewing, his bed was crumpled along with one of his pillows being drowned with water - which came from the tears that had fallen, the corner he earlier sat on had a small pool of the wet substance as well. He had been crying more than a few buckets, yet he never told anyone.
Oikawa walked over to his comfy bed, sitting down before crossing his legs as he looked up to your sympathic expression. Shooting you a visible sorrowful grin, "I'm fine Y/n-Chan, I really am." he wasn't fine at all, he kept on saying lies knowing he would only hurt himself further more, everyone had believed him. So he thought it would go the same for you too! Right? Everyone just likes him because of his achievements afterall, no one had noticed him when he was just young. Right?
Glaring, you made your way next to the brunntte - who seemed to be in the verge of curiosity from the vicious stare. "You're not fine, I can tell." he blinks a few times, his eyes filling with hope - but he managed to hide it with a small forced out chuckle.
"Uh-huh.." he teased, "And how would you know?" He questioned, assuming that you would stay quiet because you couldn't think of anything at all. Glancing towards you with a small smirk, but inside, he was hoping you would answer - hoping that —
"Because I care for you Oikawa."
Care.. For me?
Someone..
"Cares for me..?" He mumbled out, tears threatening to fall out of his eyes once again despite him shedding alot already these past couple nights. You nodded as he never looks away from you.
"I love you alot Tooru, it hurts seeing you pretend like this.. It really does." pausing, you looked forwards towards the room as he never spoke a word - taking this as a hint and chance for you to continue. "You're not just a stranger to me.. You're someone important."
Silence filled the room, he didn't say anything which visibly concerned your figure. Letting out a small heavy sigh, you looked directedly onto him - locking eyes with his as you shot him a small genuine smile. "A king needs rest too you know?"
He snapped, he lunged onto your surprised figure - arms wrapped around your body in a tightful way, as if he wasn't going to see you again. Loud and painful cries encohed through the room making you sigh out softly with a small smile plastered on - caressing his back as gentky as possible, sometimes patting from time to time.
"Y-Y/n-Cha-hmp!" he hiccupped before he could complete his words of calling out to your name, sobs mixing in with the desperate sounds he was letting out in the late midnights. But you could care less if he had woken up somebody by now, he was far more important.
"There there Tooru, everything will be okay.."
And that night, both of you didn't get more than a few minutes of sleep. Oikawa had drained himself from that moment and that he was slowly recovering and healing from him and his crucial mind. He had managed to feel this way, only because someone had finally noticed his difficulties and issues. And he won't be receiving them again as long as you were there by his side.
Not everyone that has the reputation of a Hollywood star and a daring appearance wasn't as ecastic and euphoric as you thought they might be. They were broken people pretending to be alright to save who? Not themselves apparently, they were only suffering from their own made white lies. And one certain someone had proved just that.
Meet Oikawa Tooru,
Someone that's suffering from his own insecurities.
