I lay down on the couch and think to myself.
How did I get mixed up into this life?
Why was I in the middle of everything?
My life I've always been the centre of attention and I loved it. Why was it different, now?
I was in the middle of a killing game. It was like Russian roulette. Not really, but it's close enough.
I have a fifty-fifty chance to live. It depends on what I choose to do.
I lost the bet with Giovanni and I was dreading to shoot a gun again.
I didn't want to.
Derrick talked with Giovanni and told him I wasn't cut out for this sort of thing, but he gave him a cold shoulder and a growl.
He always did the throaty groan out of his mouth when he felt all sorts of things.
It got on my nerves.
I felt the couch drop down and a body sit by my feet.
"Are you okay?" The person asked.
I sat up. It was Luke.
"Remember when you have me the ice cream for free, I still have to pay you back for that, don't I?" I asked.
"Maybe," he shrugged his shoulders.
I laughed. "It's crazy how that night escalated," I told him.
"I know, I honestly never thought I'd see you again," he said. "Although I was hoping too that's why I gave you my number which you reluctantly threw away," he teased.
I rolled my eyes. "That's only because, that's all guys ever do, they give me their numbers and expect me to call them," I explained. "Like, I'm not a type of girl to do a one night stand."
"Well, what if a guy had different intentions?" He asked.
"Oh, really? That sounds almost impossible," I snarked.

He came towards me on the couch. "What if I had different intentions," he whispered.
I smiled. "Like what?" I asked. I was eager to know.
"Like dates and kisses and holding hands, you know the cute things," he explained.
He grabbed my hand and put it in his. He looked at me in my eyes.
"Ever since I first saw you I thought you were beautiful," he said.
I couldn't help but smile wider.
"Well, I thought you were hot, to be honest," I flirted back.
His cheeks flushed and he smiled. He had dimples and freckles on his cheeks. He was cute.
"That's good to know," he murmured. The smile never leaving his lips.
He leaned towards me and I stayed put. I stood still and waited for what he was going to do.
I caught a glimpse of lust in his eyes as he stared down at my lips. I glared back at his pink lips.
He knew what that meant. I wanted to kiss him.
I leaned in towards him and he placed his hand on my thigh, and one on the small of my back pulling me towards him.
He leaned his forehead towards mine and moved his hand from his thigh to my chin, tilting it towards him.
He was so close to kissing me. His lips brushed mine before we were interrupted.
The three boys bursted into the room. I was pushed away from Luke, and I quickly stood up.
Awkwardness filled the room and I smiled, sheepishly.
"What just happened?" Grae asked.
"Did we interrupt something?" Tobias smirked. "I mean, I did ship you with Giovanni, but Luke was close second."
I rolled my eyes.
I looked at Derrick and noticed he looked sad. His face was blank and his eyes held sorrow. I also noticed tear tracks down his cheeks.
Had he been crying?
I wonder what happened that made him cry?
He stared at me, my heart broke at his state.
"What happened?" I asked, concern filled my voice. "Have you been crying?"
I stepped towards him, he watched me. He collapsed in my arms.
"She's dead," he said. His voice sounded hollow and empty. It sounded broken. "He killed her . . ."
"Father killed our mother."

The Demon’s Bride
Elise had about to change into the dress that was lying on the corner of her bed when she heard a knock lightly calling from her door. Curious, she turned the door knob only to have a tall man towering in front of her.«Master Ian!» She called.Ian smiled with the usual mischievous smirk that he always used. His crimson eyes trailing a little over her room and spotted the black dress over her bed and shifted his eyes over to the woman in front of him. He stepped forward and spoke. «Where did you acquire that dress?»«Mr. Harland gave it to me.» Elise replied and strained her neck to see Ian’s brows knitted in its elegance.«Do you know why a man would love to give a woman a dress?» He gave the riddle that she always had to think twice before replying. But this time, she found no answer and instead shook her head. «I don’t know.»His grin grew bewitching as though something had stirred deep inside the scarlet eyes that he had. He slowly slid his hand over the collar of her dress, sending a cold shiver that startled her for a moment due to its freezing temperature. After unbuttoning the first two buttons on her collar, he tilted his head down, whispering to her ears. «Because they want to be the one to undress the cloth.»He paused and kissed her neck, turning the pale skin to red before retracting his move to fix his eyes on her and leisurely replied. «Unfortunately, you can’t wear the dress over there with this.» He chuckled and passed a box over to her hand. «And the fortunate news is I prepared a dress for you.»

The Stormcrow Cycle
Once a powerful and lauded witch, Ba'an salu-Ba'an now lives alone in a cave in the desert, waiting to die. When she rescues an outlander from certain death she becomes embroiled in a deadly game of politics and empire, of heart and soul, but worst of all--of hope and love and a chance at a peaceful future. Can a disgraced witch find a reason to live her life again--and if so, what price must she pay? The Stormcrow Cycle is a trilogy comprising of The Exile, The Lion, and Abomination. Tags or genres for each book: The Exile: romance, slice-of-life The Lion: romance, slice-of-life, politics Abomination: tragedy, high/epic fantasy (aka "Everything is on fire!") Updates once a week whenever I have time. Cross-posted on Wattpad and Scribble Hub. The CBMokedi cover will return! Excerpt: She looked down at him again. Young. Healthy, from what she could see, except for the wound that was killing him. He was handsome in a way that suggested a life of wealth and plenty. She did not think he had ever starved. Someone important. Her shadow fell across him, and he frowned. Blearily, he opened his eyes. They were amber and bright, even as he lay dying in the dirt. She could feel his soul, blazing inside of him like a fire refusing to die even as his body began to fail. He met her gaze, eyes widening in what she guessed was surprise—or shock. But he never looked away, staring up at her as though transfixed. Ba’an made her decision. She raised her hand and covered his eyes. In another moment, a murder of crows cawed as they took wing. The man and woman were gone from the road, leaving only the dead staring up into the sky. Note: This is a high-fantasy set in a low-magic world. The first book is largely character-driven and we really only hit the real plot in Book II, so if you're not fond of long epic yarns you ought to skip this one. I also don't include trigger warnings, but mind the "traumatizing content" tag--all societies minus one practice slavery and the world is indeed, rather grim!
