《If I Fall // Fantastic Beasts》Five

Mercy woke up at one o'clock in the afternoon shortly after Newt, she found the Niffler was curled up into a ball as it snuggled against the woman's arms taking the place where Newt once slept. She let out a little chuckle as she gently gave the Nifflers head a pat, she got up out of bed and spotted Newt working away at his desk near the back of the room.
"When did you wake up?"
"An hour ago" the man said setting his gaze on Mercy
"Nice hair" he laughed
She looked confused as she felt the top of her head, it felt fuzzy and she could feel pieces sticking up.
"Oh no" she laughed trying to flatten her hair down
"What are you working on?"
"I was trying to see if the Ministry decided to let me know if there happened to be any creatures in Philadelphia, if so, would you like to stay here for a couple more days?" He asked cleaning up his work space
"If we change motels, I'll pay" she bribed
"Well, you know I can't pass up a free motel stay" he laughed
The woman nodded smiling at the the man, without him, who knows where she would be right now.
"Do you mind if we visit my grandmother when we arrive in New York?"
"Is she the grandmother who loves fashion?" Newt asked
She nodded, smiling at the thought of her bubbly grandmother. Alice Hudson was her mother's - mother, the last of the family she knew about. Alice worked with the ministry for ages before quitting and moving to New York to pursue her love of fashion. She was the type of person you would read about in magazines or books, the daughter who followed in her mothers footsteps as she didn't want to let her mother down but realized she was her own person and did want she wanted to do no matter anyone's opinion.

Mercy wanted to be like her grandmother in so many ways, she wanted her confidence, she wanted to be outgoing, she wanted to feel special. She knew that she was just like her father no matter how much she hated it, she was shy and clumsy just like him and had his features. No matter how much she wanted to forget about her father, whenever she looked in the mirror she saw him.
"Mercy?" Newt spoke waving his hand in front of her face
"Ya? Sorry, zoned out a bit there"
"Are you okay?"
"Mhmm" she nodded
"Are you still upset about last night?"
"No, but I am sorry for asking those ridiculous questions" she laughed taking a seat back on the bed beside the sleeping Niffler, Newt placed a few pencils in a mug before taking a seat next to Mercy.
"They weren't ridiculous, they were understandable"
She gave the man a confusing look, what did he mean by understandable?
"I understand your logic, you said everyone leaves and it's only a matter of time until I do to.... I know it's hard to cope with all the events that took place but you need to understand that I'm not leaving, I'm not making the same mistake twice" he stared at her
He needed to know that she forgave him, he needed to 100% this time.
"I know and I do believe you but I always think like that when I have a chance... my mind just goes down that hole and I can't help it"
"I'm sorry for everything that has happened to you, you don't deserve any of it" he wrapped his arm around the woman with a smile
"You have more friends then just me now, all the creatures love you, remember that your never alone"
"I won't, especially with Pickett always trying to climb on my face" she laughed
"I kind of miss his face hugs"
They both laughed as they decided to look for a new place to sleep for the night, they gathered all there belongings and changed into fresh clothes before exiting the motel behind the other boat passengers. Instead of following the crowd of people the turned in the opposite direction because they were not followers, they were leaders.

Outlook: The Stars (Consciousness Unbound Book 1)
The year is 2152. Rune Yahui is a nineteen-year-old failure, not having gained entrance to college or the military, with no significant prospects in life. Even worse, Rune is the poorest of the poor, hailing from the mega-slums of New Southern Chicago, the lowest pit of America. In a desperate last-ditch attempt to gain a future more lustrous than toiling the rest of his days away in abhorrent conditions in one of the near sweat-shop level factories that dot the megapolis, Rune signs up for the Virtual Citizen program, a program to cull the excessive world population by transferring just their brains into a video game. In a stroke of rare luck, Rune is admitted into the program and happily submits himself to the surgery and digitization process. Unfortunately for him, he wakes up several hundred years later than he expected... or does he? **Author's Note** This isn't a type of story typical to RRL. You may have noticed LitRPG in the tags, but it's a relatively minor element in the story until later. You may also notice Slice of Life is in the tags. This story is going to be slow and there won't be any power tripping until way later if at all. The focus will be on character development. That doesn't mean I won't still have action/excitement, however. I encourage you to give the story a try. Maybe it will be your thing, maybe it won't. Thanks for even taking the time to read this, and if you do give my fiction a try, I hope you enjoy it. If you don't, well, I hope you find something that you do enjoy. Happy reading!
