《If I Fall // Fantastic Beasts》Six

It had been two days since they've been staying in Philadelphia, two days and the two had found nothing. The ministry of magic had contacted Newt to inform him of un explainable activities in New York, the ministry only contacted Newt once in awhile, only when they thought something was a bit off and they could not attend to it themselves.
At four o'clock they would be boarding another boat to take them to New York, Mercy was beyond excited as she has always wanted to travel to New York. She was also going to visit her grandmother, she hadn't seen her in ages and the woman didn't know how long she would be here for, given her old age.
"It's three-thirty, we should probably get going to the docks" Newt said guiding Mercy around the side walk
"Yah, don't want to miss it" she smiled
"Where do you want to go first?"
"My grandmothers, if that's possible?" She asked
"Of course, I can't wait to meet her" he laughed returning a smile
They walked in silence for awhile and for once in both of their lives it wasn't awkward silence, they were both thankful for that.
"What did the Ministry say about the events in New York?" Mercy asked finally breaking the silence
"I was told that a creature of some sort has been destroying building and other things, they said that they saw it on the news I believe and assumed it was a creature" he shrugged his shoulders
"What if it isn't?"
"Then I suppose it's no longer our problem" he chuckled before tapping his chest three times as Pickett popped his tiny head out from Newt's coat.
"Hello" Mercy smiled giving a little wave towards the bowtruckle
The bowtruckle climbed down from Newt's pocket and onto the woman's shoulders before climbing her hair and landing on her face, she looked at Newt with a confused expression before she felt Pickett's little arms wrap around the side of her face.

"I may of told him that you miss his face hugs" Newt spoke quickly
"Newt!" She laughed punching his shoulder
"Ow!"
"Really? It doesn't hurt when poisonous creatures bite you but when a girl punches you, that hurts?" She gently peeled Pickett off her face before handing him back to Newt.
"You should take that as a compliment, means your strong" he chuckled
She shook her head smiling at the boy as they arrived at their destination, "ticket?" A large man spoke
Mercy nodded her head as she dug in her pocket for her ticket, once she found the piece of paper and handed it to the angry looking man. She turned to face Newt but he was no longer standing behind him, "Mercy?" She heard his voice when the angry man tapped on her shoulder and pulled her around to face the boat.
"You were taking a bit long to find your ticket and, Er, I gave him mine while you were searching for yours"
Mercy shot Newt an annoyed look, "get on the boat! Your holding up the line" the man shouted
Mercy jumped a bit before heading onto the boat, once she reached Newt she lightly punched his shoulder again.
"Why would you just leave me down there? That man did not like me" she shivered
"How could anyone not like you?"
"He certainly did not" a laugh escaped her lips causing Newt to join in
The walked towards the back of the boat, their normal seating arrangement that they had placed for themselves since their first boat ride.
"Do you really think it's a creature that's terrorizing New York?" She sat down next to Newt.
"No, no I don't" he sighed
"What do you think it is?"
"I'm not sure, but, the pictures they've sent me show the ground all tore up and building have been destroyed...." he shook his head

"Do you think back?"
"Who? Grindelwald? I hope not" Newt looked worry
"Are you sure it's not a creature?" Mercy pushed the subject
"No! A creature couldn't do something like that, I have some of the strongest creatures living in my case and they would never hurt anyone!"
Mercy had never seen Newt get worked up, but, she should of known his creatures were a sore subject for the man. Creatures were his life's work and for anybody to think they could do so much wrong, she should of known he would get upset.
"I-I'm sorry, I just was curious... we need to take in any possibility, Newt. Creatures just happen to be one" she spoke softly
"If it happened to be a creature that just gives the world another reason for their extinction!" He sighed looking at the woman sat beside him
"I know, I know and thats what your trying to prevent, but again if it was you need to know how to calm it down and perhaps you could take it in until it's better?"
He nodded his head, "Okay, yeah, I'm sorry for getting worked up" he chuckled
"Happens to all of us" Mercy joined in the laughter
"I'm so glad that you got yourself expelled just to save me, if you didn't we wouldn't be here right now" Newt smiled
"Oh, it's fine, I don't regret it, not any more at least" she chuckled
"Thank you so much" Newt wrapped an arm around Mercy with a smile on his face, he hadn't known what took over him in that moment but he had confidence he didn't even know he had and he wanted to use it before it vanished.
"Thank you, for bringing me along on your journey"
"Our journey" he corrected her "How many times do I have to tell you that?"

Musings of a Hypocrite
Mortals are weird. They insisted in unity, as well as individualism. More often than not, they're shocked at truth and honesty, but not at falsehood and deceit. They asked questions with multiple answers, and provided answers that begged other questions. They made things to break, they destroyed things to study, they researched things to recreate. Humans, Elves, Beastmen. All of them. Within these contradictions, a miracle might manifest. But this tended to work with a trial and error methodology. Most mortals never got the happy ending. This diary is my journey alongside a few students of mine. In simple terms - they learn, they grow, they fight. They'll journey through centuries of conflict, from the physical to the educational. They'll experience the cruelty and benelovence of all living-kind. They'll experience the consequences of their choices and the blessings of their rewards. They will grow to become useful to me, or die trying like all the others. As for you? The god reading our lives like a book, sitting in your chair without a care in the world? I will show you, the farce that is known as 'God'.
