Mercy woke up the next day with a headache, sipping tea that Newt had made her she smiled up at him.
'Thank you'
'My pleasure' he beamed 'I'm glad your okay'
'So am I' she chuckled taking another sip of her scolding hot tea
'Where's Jacob?'
'Feeding the other bowtruckles' he replied sitting next to Mercy on the small bed
'Can I take the bandage off?'
'Yes' Newt said helping unravel the white fabric from her head, a faint scar rested upon her forehead.
'There's just a scar left, a straight line above your left eye' Newt examined 'sorry I couldn't heal it any better'
Standing up he threw out the bloodied fabric then sat back down again, staring at Mercy.
'You did an amazing job' she assured him placing her tea on the floor and attacked him with a hug
'You are okay, right?'
'Yes, just a slight headache' she chuckled as Jacob entered
'Shouldn't we get back to Tina's flat? They'll know that we're missing now' Mercy said standing up
'Yes, its better we leave now then later' Newt said jumping up and throwing on his coat before walking up the stairs,
'It's locked' Newt shouted
'What?' Mercy said abandoning her tea
A loud knock echoed through the case, the lid slowly opened showing Tina's face. Newt climbed out first then followed by Mercy and Jacob. Mercy stared out as she took notice of the people surrounding the room, she stepped back towards Newt as she began to silently panic.
'Mr. Graves, sir. This is the man I told you about, he and his friend have been letting magical beasts loose among the city and causing havoc! The man beside them is a No-Maj, Mr. Kowalski is a witness to all of Mr. Scamanders crimes!' Tina spoke with confidence

The man looked appalled as woman appeared beside the man called Mr. Graves, she stood there glaring at the three as a body also appeared hovering over the ground in the middle of the room. The woman stepped down beside the body, 'tell me, Mr. Scamander' she began 'which one of your beasts did this?'
Newt looked deeply at the hologram, a man lied there motionless, eyes wide open and marks covering his body.
'Non of my beasts did this, look at the marks' Newt spoke
'None are powerful enough to have done this' Mercy stepped up and joined Newts side, once again fighting for him.
'You know what did this, an obscures'
The crowd gasped as the woman took a step closer towards the two 'none have existed in the past decades, Mr. Scamander' 'now tell me, which of your beasts did this?' She asked
'None' Newt spoke with confidence 'none could have been capable of such thing, you know what did this but are to scared to admit it'
'Confiscate the case and bring those three down for interrogation' she yelled 'if and will be found guilty, the sentence is death'
Mercy gasped staring at Newt 'and bring Ms Goldstein as well' she added before disappearing
Tina looked terrified, an act that thought would get her her job back clearly backfired, terribly. Guards came at the three, using magic to keep their hands tied around their backs and slowly dragged them from their spot. Mercy could hear Tina sobbing and Jacobs heavy breathing but Mercy just let the guards drag her away. There was nothing she could do, she was helpless. Everything she tried to do, everywhere she went she just ended up helpless. A tear escaped her right eye and her breathing quickened as she saw Newt, just ahead of her and putting up a fight as Mr. Graves ripped the case from his hands causing Newt to fall back onto the floor.

Mr. Graves vanished once Newt was taken ahold of by a guard, Newt continued to yell at the crowd, not giving up.
'Nothing in that case in dangerous!'
'Do not hurt them, they've done nothing wrong!' He yelled
'Please, their not dangerous!'
And with one last glance at the room before being dragged around the corner, Mercy could here Newt whisper a please with all his might. Mercy began crying, she knew they were all going to die and seeing Newt so broken physically hurt her as well. She fought for him through everything and not being able to help this time, it broke her heart. Nobody said anything as the guards threw the four into a dark cell that must of been underground. Mercy slumped off into the darkest corner and tried to calm herself down, breathing heavily she turned to face Tina. Tina was also crying, she wiped many tears from her eyes 'I'm sorry' she said staring at everyone 'this is all my fault'
No one said anything, Jacob was staring at Tina while Newt and Mercy focused on the cold ground.
'I'm sorry about your creatures' she added
'They wouldn't hurt anyone on purpose' Newt mumbled 'now every creature I've saved is going to die'
'I'm sorry' Tina repeated
'How, how are you sorry?' Mercy cut in
'You've chased us around, kept us in your flat so we wouldn't escape so you could try to get your job back! This is indeed all your fault' Mercy sobbed
'We're all going to die because of you! You brought two people into this jail thing because they broke your stupid rules but perhaps since we're not American, maybe we didn't know the magic laws here? Huh, maybe take into account that were from Britain and things work differently there!' She raged
'Mercy, calm down' Newt spoke up
'I-I can't help it' she whispered hiding her face 'I'm sick of getting caught in the middle of everything and whenever I try to fight for what's right, nothing ever works out for me'
'That's not true' Newt mumbled scooting over beside Mercy 'you fought for me and even if didn't turn out the way you wanted, you still traveled part of the world with me'
'I've tried so hard to have a perfect life'
'A perfect life doesn't exist, but I'm sure close to it with having you in it' He wrapped his arm around her protectively 'we'll get out of here, I promise'
Mercy gave him a faint smile and wiped the tears from her face 'thank you' she mumbled staring at the ground,
'I'd do anything for you' he nodded 'you should know that by now' he kissed the top of her head with a small smile.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
