Chapter Eight; Consequences.
Eden left Queenie at the Ministry doors, she told Eden that if she didn't come out in one hour Queenie would come find her. Eden thanked her before walking inside trying her best to look calm. She smiled at her fellow employees and entered the elevator, the goblin smiled at her.
'Where are you heading, Miss Rowan?' He asked stepping onto his stool next to the buttons.
'Mr Graves office, please.'
He nodded clicking one of the buttons, nobody said anything until the elevator door slowly opened and the goblin bid Eden goodbye. She ran to Mr Graves office, the door was slightly open which signified that he was not there at the moment. Eden groaned turning around running across the hall to the other side, instead of taking the elevator she rushed down the stairs to the next floor. When she opened the door she ran again towards the other stair entrance across from her, she was panting by the time she ran into someone.
'Leo!' She stumbled by him, he grabbed her shoulders to help steady her. 'Thanks.' She mumbled staring at the ground.
'Are you ok, Eden?' He asked, 'You look like you've rolled around in a mud puddle.'
'I'm fine!' She said, 'Have you seen Mr Graves?'
'He's down on the underground level, he caught Tina and two other people.'
Eden's eyes widened, she told Leo goodbye as she made her way to the elevator. When she entered she clicked the button herself, she wasn't in the mood for talking anymore.
Stumbling out of the elevator and running down the crowded hallways with a wand out caused a little bit of a panic. People looked over at Eden with worried expressions, they all backed away as Eden passed by. She spotted Mr Graves near the end of the hallway, she shouted his name as she rushed towards him.
'Mr Graves.' She panted, 'Sorry... for... interrupting...'
'It's fine, Miss Rowan.' He said.
'I followed Miss Goldstein and Mr Scamander but I've lost them-'
'Let me stop you right there, Miss Rowan.' Mr Graves interrupted, his eyes burned into hers. 'Miss Goldstein brought Mr Scamander and a No-Maj here to the Ministry and presented them to me.'
Eden sighed with relief, 'May I ask where they are now?'

Mr Graves didn't say anything for a few seconds, he never broke his stare towards Eden. She shuttered moving her gaze towards her feet, she crossed her arms in the meantime.
'Yes, I do.' Mr Graves said, 'They both have been found guilty and will be facing the punishment of death.'
'What?!' Eden yelled, 'Not again. I'm not losing them again!'
Mr Graves only smiled and bid Eden a good day. She screamed with rage before sprinting down the hallway to the elevator and she forcefully pressed the lowest button on the panel. The elevator jerked before descending downwards, Eden fumed as the elevator hit the floor. The doors opened and Eden took off, she could hear Tina's voice bouncing off the empty hall.
'Tina!' Eden yelled as she followed Tina's voice, it lead her to a room at the end of the long narrow hallway. Eden quietly opened the door, she was appalled when she peeked inside. Two Ministry Employees were there, one had Newt pinned down while Tina was sat up on a chair over some sort of liquid. She was smiling as she stared down at the substance, the Ministry worker kept telling her to step into it.
Eden barged in and tackled the woman who was controlling Tina, the woman's wand fell and disintegrated as soon as it hit the water. The woman struggled but flipped onto Eden, she yelped as the woman began pushing her closer to the water, she could feel her shoe brush up against it.
'Eden Rowan...' The woman snickered, 'I've never really like you that much.'
Eden struggled as the woman kept pushing her farther towards the edge, how did this backfire so quickly?
'Eden!' Newt yelled, 'Stay low!'
Eden tried looking at Newt but her view was blocked for another second, something big ripped the woman off of Eden and threw her into the liquid just as Eden almost slid in. She cried out as she clung to the edge trying to pull herself up, her right leg felt like it was on fire.
'Hold on!' Newt said rushing over to her, he pulled her up onto her feet. Thankfully her leg was fine but half of her pant leg was fried off, her shoe was mostly intact though.
'Tina!' Eden smiled when she saw that she was ok, 'How are we going to get her down?'

'Tina, can you hear me?' Newt asked staring up at Tina, she nodded with a worried expression on her face.
'You've got to listen to me, ok?'
'Yes, ok.' She replied.
'Jump!'
Eden stared wide eyed at the two of them, was he trying to get Tina killed? Ether way Tina jumped, Newt caught her and helped her stand up straight. After they all ran out of the room, alarms went off, the noise bouncing off every wall in every direction.
'Where's Jacob?' Eden asked as they ran, security making their way down the stairs. 'What happened to him?'
'They separated us.' Tina said, 'We don't know where he went.'
They ran down more hallways, turned at random points and eventually hid when they reached the main floor. They hid behind a crease in the wall, that's when Eden spotted Queenie walking down the hallway across from them, Jacob was trailing behind her holding Newt's case.
Queenie hugged her sister tightly, eventually Jacob had to pull them away so they could create a plan. The all settled on getting into Newt's case while Queenie carried it out of the building. Newt helped Eden down the stairs, her right leg still felt like it was on fire.
'I'm sorry.' Tina apologized sitting down on the staircase, 'This is all my fault.'
'It is' Eden said staring at her, 'But I made you lose your job... so, are we even?'
Tina laughed and nodded with a smile, 'Of course.'
Eden smiled back, maybe she could still be friends with Tina. After a few minutes Newt handed Jacob and Eden large buckets of random meats, he then guided them out into another room but this one had many creatures in it. Large creatures roamed around the space while smaller ones were placed in specific spots.
'Can you put your bucket down over there?' Newt asked Eden, she nodded walking into another habitat like area. Newt followed in after her, he wanted to talk to her for a bit.
'You've got to leave.' Newt said when he felt they were far enough away from everyone, 'It's to dangerous.'
'What is to dangerous?'
'The Ministry is looking for me as well as the police, if you are seen with me who knows what will happen.'
'Newt, Mr Graves watched me rush after you. He knows I was trying to save you guys, he knows we were friends.'
Newt sighed, 'I don't care, Eden. It's not safe and I don't want you to get hurt.'
Eden shook her head back and fourth, 'You don't want me to get hurt?' She asked, 'You didn't think of that the first time you left.'
'What are you talking about?'
'Hogwarts! You just disappeared and I had no idea what happened to you, one day you were there and the next you were gone.'
Newt frowned, 'I was expelled, I had no choice!'
'You had a choice to tell me, your best friend.'
'I thought you knew. You must've heard!'
'I did.' Eden frowned, 'From that Lestrange girl who kept bullying me when you left. She kept making fun of me and calling me names! Sometimes she'd even use magic when I wouldn't retaliate, she didn't want me to forget.'
'Eden...' Newt said, 'I had no idea.'
'You were my only friend! And one day you just left and I never got told, for the rest of my school years I wondered why I never got a goodbye.'
'Eden-'
'I can handle what ever it is your worried about, I refuse to get hurt again. I work for the Ministry, I am useful and you will use the help I can offer!'
Newt looked down at her shocked, she had never snapped at him like that. Really, Newt hadn't heard so many words leave her mouth before. He shook his head, he had made his decision even if it would ruin everything again.
'I'm sorry.' He said, 'I don't want anything happening to you, Eden.'
'Don't you touch me!' Eden warned as he stepped closer to her, 'I swear Newton!'
He didn't listen as he wrapped his arms around her in a tight hug, Eden just stood there with her arms glued to her side. When he let go he watched her as she tried not to cry, he could see the tears forming in her grey eyes.
'I'm sorry.' He said again as he reached down and kissed her gently on one cheek, 'And I will accept every consequence that I deserve.' He managed to say as the ground gave way underneath their feet, the same feeling returned for the hundredth time as they apparated away from Newt's case.
