《Oh Captain My Captain! (Haikyuu)》Chapter 13

Your night was filled with tossing and turning as your nerves got the best of you. The cookout would start in a few short hours and you were honestly panicked about your parents meeting your friends. Its not that your friends are bad people or that your parents are too stern, the nerves were more out of fear of your two worlds finally colliding. Your parents had only heard about everyone through talk and text and now panic was setting in about them meeting the real people. Other problem is you hadn't really told your friends much about your parents and were worried what they would think of you. As fun as your parents were they had a tendency to say things inappropriate or out of character and it was scary to think of what might just slip out.
Before bed the previous night you had called Tanaka and Noya and asked them to come over early to help calm your nerves and luckily they would be arriving any minute. You were panic digging through your drawers and closet when the door bell rang. Sprinting out of your room towards the front door you yelled.
"IVE GOT IT" you yanked the door open grabbing both boys by the hand and rushing back to your room locking the door behind you.
"wow y/n, relax!" Noya exclaimed.
"Sorry..... I don't know why i'm so nervous" you said anxiously playing with your fingers. Tanaka wrapped you in a big bear hug squeezing you far to tight.
"Why are you so worried beautiful?" he said rocking you gently side to side in the hug.
"I just never know what they are going to say and I don't want anyone to get offended or think differently of me. As nice as they can be they are also very critical. They also don't understand boundaries and are bound to ask inappropriate questions or say some frowned upon things." You groaned into his chest.
"Well everyone on our team loves you, and no matter what happens me and Noya will still be your best friends promise" he gave you another good squeeze and then let you go. "Now get dressed because your.... Indecent" he pointed towards your legs making you realize you were still in a t-shirt with no pants.
"Oops" you said laughing. "help me pick something please, I cant think straight" you turned towards the dresser digging while Noya went to the closet. They ended up picking out a cute off shoulder crop and high waisted shorts and you found a bra and panties to match.
In the few hours before people were supposed to start showing up you curled up in bed with Noya and Tanaka and just enjoyed the peace offered by time spent with your best friends. A knock eventually came at your door.

"Honey are you ready yet, people will be showing up soon" your mom asked poking her head in the door. "Oh seems we already have guests, who are these little perverts all over my daughter?" she said walking into the room with a scowl on her face. Tanaka and Noya both jumped out of the bed bowing rapidly apologizing. She burst out laughing fanning her face to keep from crying "I'm just kidding boys, I know who you are, y/n wont shut up about the two of you!" she said.
They both stopped bowing trying to laugh through how terrified they were. "You really got us there Mrs. L/N" they said in unison.
"Oh goodness y/n I think I really scared them. Hopefully your other friends understand jokes better" she laughed walking out of the room. You dropped your head into your hands releasing a deep sigh.
"Lets get out there so we can be the ones to great people, don't need her scaring away everyone else" you got up heading towards the front of the house. Noya and Tanaka shook the fear from their bodies following after you.
The first guests to arrive were Daichi, Suga and Asahi. Suga had brought a big basket of cookies for your parents. You led them outside to introduce them.
"Mom, Dad this is Daichi, Sugawara and Asahi" they each bowed as you said their names.
"Here these are for you" Suga said handing the basket to your mother.
"Oh these look delicious, is he one of the ones your sleeping with? Because if so I could get used to fresh baked goods when we visit!" she smiled carrying the basket inside. Everyone stood there in shock unsure of what to say or do. Suga finally started giggling which made everyone else relax.
"That's a good question y/n, am I one of the ONES your sleeping with?" he said teasingly emphasizing the word ones. You gave him a quick punch in the arm and whispered an i'm sorry to Daichi.
More people started to arrive and you kept the introductions going, and after a quick complaint to your mom her greetings got less awkward and cringe worthy. She did of course give Tsukki a hard time but she adored Hinata claiming she wanted to adopt him and take him back to America with them. Kuroo and Kenma arrived shortly after Hinata.
"Kenma!" you yelled wrapping him in a hug. He didn't look up from his video games just gave your cheek a quick kiss and headed off towards the game room to find Hinata. You were not expecting the sweet little kiss but it made you smile knowing that he at least liked you enough to acknowledge you.
"Are you going to look that cute if I kiss your cheek too?" Kuroo teased.

"Doubt it!" you joked back. He laughed giving your cheek a quick kiss, he had a bouquet of flowers in his hand. "Those for me?" you teased.
"Nope these are for Mommy dearest" he said laughing. You led him back to the kitchen where your mom was snacking on the cookies from earlier.
"Mom this is Kuroo, Kenma is here also but he is rather shy and really only likes Hinata" you explained while you introduced Kuroo.
"These are for you" he said bowing and handing her the flowers. "Its very nice to meet you" he stood back up flashing her a very handsome smile.
"So you're one of the ones stealing my daughters innocence" she said with narrowed eyes.
"Who me?" he said pointing at himself. "I think you have the situation backwards ma'am, i'm just a naïve city boy that your daughter takes advantage of ALOT" he said with a smirk. She started laughing and patting his cheek.
"Now this one I like! And I can see why you talk about him so much, he is very handsome and tall!" she said flashing you a smile and walking back outside to join your father.
"Did you hear that? She likes me! Oh and don't worry I talk about you a lot too" he teased. You smacked his arm heading back out to wait for the last few guests. After a few short minutes the only one missing was Ukai but you could see him pull into the drive way so you decided to walk out to greet him.
"Hey! Glad you could make it" you chuckled walking towards him as he got out of the car.
"Well I surely couldn't miss another one of your very talked about party's" he joked.
"Trust me if this was my party I wouldn't be so on edge" you said leaning against his car shaking your head.
"Well maybe this will make you feel better" he handed you a small box. You opened it and your face lit up with a big smile. Inside the box was a pair of earrings that looked like little volleyballs.
"These are so cute, thank you!" you quickly took them from the package putting them on. "what do you think?"
He reached out running his thump gently across one of them "Just as cute as I thought they would look. Now I just hope you will wear them to games for good luck" he said. His eyes bore into yours and as much as it scared you knowing he was a bit older you couldn't help but be intrigued.
"Come on, let me introduce you" out of instinct you reached for his hand leading him inside. After introductions were all done, most went outside. Several set off to take advantage of the pool while others grouped up talking. You decided to sit down at one of the picnic tables next to Ukai who was chatting with Suga and Asahi.
"So boys what are we talking about?" you asked as you sat down.
"Just chatting about the upcoming training camp. One of the teams that are supposed to be there are already in talks of being the expected winners at nationals. Their Captain is in the top 5 in the nation. They will be great practice for us" Ukai said.
"Sounds like an interesting time. I'm really excited to go, think it'll be fun to see everyone learn and grow. Plus if this guy is that good ill have to keep a close eye on him and steal whatever technique I can for our guys." You laughed.
"That's what we were thinking actually. You have been able to teach us so much just from watching games on tv and from watching these other teams, so I think it'd be a great help" Suga said genuinely smiling.
"It's a plan then!" you gave a goofy thumbs up. You were about to say something else when a pair of arms locked around your waist, yanking you up from the table and charging towards the pool. They didn't listen as you yelled to be put down, they just chunked you right into the pool.
You sprung from the water coughing and swimming to the edge. When you had hit the water you caught a mouth and nose full of water which set off the coughs making your eyes water. Two hands reached down grabbing you under the arms and lifted you from the water placing you on your feet and wrapped a towel around you it was Ukai and he lead you inside as you kept coughing up water.
"Lets get you inside so you can catch your breath and find some new clothes." He said rubbing your back as you walked towards the house. He also flashed an angry look at Daichi and pointed to Kageyama who was apparently the one to throw you in the water.
Once inside you led him back to your room. He quickly found the bathroom grabbing you another towel, knowing the one you were using was soaked.
"Here is another towel, give me that one and your wet clothes and ill hang them up in the shower." He said turning away. You quickly stripped out of the wet shirt and shorts. Then using the towel he had gotten you, you started drying you hair with one hand using the other to hand him the clothes.
"Here you go" he turned around to grab them but he froze. His eyes slowly swept down and back up your body.
"Wow" he exhaled.

Exponential Mana Regeneration
When the Change occurred, humanity suddenly found itself with superhuman constitutions and the ability to use mana. All the government leaders had known about it beforehand and had made an announcement, so there was little strife and instead excitement to loot the dungeons that the Change had created. Kyle Anders was incredibly excited when he saw his starting skill, called Exponential Mana Regeneration, but his excitement quickly waned when he realized it was almost useless with his starting mana pool of twenty. He had nearly given up hope on being a mage when his family got him a new skill for his 18th birthday. Suddenly, with his mana pool expanded because of the skill, Kyle’s mana regeneration shot through the roof. But while humanity worked hard to loot dungeons and increase their skills and stats, Change was coming, and peace cannot last forever. The story is currently on haitus. (This story is a work in progress. As the first story that I have ever written, the beginning, especially the first ten chapters or so, needs heavy editing. I have decided to continue writing the story instead of going back and editing the beginning. I hope that despite all its flaws you will still find my story enjoyable.)

Greene's Monthly Contest
most writers don't have enough recognition. most of them only win awards based on the general aspects of a story; genre or theme, judged by the same things, not appreciating the genius behind the chapters. same awards, same results.--and we disagree with that.
