hello my name is Sofia Rodriguez. Benny is my brother he's only one year older than me. Our parents split up when I was 6 and Benny was 7. My dad took me and my mom kept Benny. Years have passed since my father has left my mom and brother. Now I'm 13 and benny's 14 I believe. Well recently my father passed away due to a car accident I was and still am. It happened exactly 2 days ago. But since he is gone my only other legal guardian is my mother.

So here I am on a plane leaving New York to go to California. Alone. Great😀. I'm still really sad about my father but on the bright side I get to see my family again and try to work things out. I mean it's been 7 almost 8 years since I've seen both. We just lost connection due to the fact we were so far away and my parents just didn't talk at all.

Currently, im on the plane rethinking everything. All my memories with my dad and friends i had in New York. I forgot for a second I was in public and let a few tears roll down my face as I was looking out the window. I was so far up in the sky. Although i was sad the view made me some what in a bit of a better mood. My flight is 5 hours long so I decided to take a nap and set an alarm to wake up.

(Also forgot to mention this is like present time so Summer 2021 just no covid yk)

I connected my airpods to my phone and listened to music. Calm and chill music.

My alarm went off and it lowkey interrupted a good dream even thought I forgot ab it once I fully woke up. I still had a good 30 minutes till I landed. I grabbed my phone and decided to text my best friend from New York. Charlie. (let's just use charlie from the mighty ducks😅)

anyways back to present time 💀

i got to the house my mom hugged me so much and hard that i couldn't breath at some point. We talked about life and I caught her up on everything and so did she but left out some parts for Benny to fill me in with like what's going on with him. Oh I can't wait to see Benny :)

we got to the house- my new house ig. It looked cozy and a little old fashioned. But overall it's a nice house.

"Sofia uhm Benny isn't here yet I told him you were coming but forgot to tell him what day. So if you want you can go to the sandlot aft you freshen up" she smiled and unlocked the door."ok that's fine mama" I said and walked inside. The living room was really nice. It had a bunch of photos of Benny and his friends I'm guessing and some of him and her together. But there was a big family portrait of all of us years ago. I just stared at it for a bit. My mom came up from behind me and hugged me. "It's ok mija we all miss him even though we aren't on the same level" the kissed my head and walked to the kitchen.

She made me a torta. And showed me my room it was nice just was a little bit smaller than my old one but it's fine as long as I'm here:) "Hey mom where was that place you said to find Benny?" I asked walking out my room. " The sandlot it's an old field your brother plays baseball with his friends" she said walking towards me. "Where exactly is that?" I asked walking with her to the door. "It's like less than a block away all you have to do is (she says directions)" and hugged me again and said be safe and whatnot.

I grabbed my skateboard and started skateboarding toward the sandlot but on the way there I saw a liquor store. I stopped skateboarding and walked inside. I went straight to the slurpee machine and got a large red slurpee. I was walking to the cashier but two guys got i front of me causing me to bump into one of them. He turned around "watch where your going bitch" he raised his voice. Uh no im a New Yorker 🧍‍♀️ " Watch where your going gringo" I said rudely cuz already off the start I hated this bitch. " what you say to me" he looked so pissed. lmao. "I think you heard me now if you'll excuse me I have to go" I said and pushed past him. He was wearing a varsity jacket with the name Phillips on the back with a logo of a tiger. bitch. I payed and walked out and grabbed my board again and started skating to the sandlot. I couldn't get that stupid face outta my head as much as I wanted to I couldn't and I was annoyed with myself.

Anyways I saw a feild come up ahead and I was nervous now completely forgetting ab that PhIlLipS kid. I was in front of the gate and heard boys yelling. "Cmon cmon get him out alreadyyy!" Said someone. I walked into the gate and went to the dugout and they didn't seem to notice me at all. Until I saw Benny. Omg that's actually him my brother is only a few feet away from me Alfred all these years his love for baseball was still there. We used to play together catch. No one noticed me at all until a kid with shorts and a weird hat fell and he looked up at me and said.

"Who are you?" He said with pure confusion. Everyone looked at me shocked since I guess no one ever went there idk. Benny looked at me after sliding and making home. He looked at me for a second and studied my face and then opened his mouth with shock. "S-Sofia? Is that really you" he said getting up and walking towards me slowly.
