《The Two Billionaires》Chapter 30

I woke up with a pounding headache, both my hands and legs were bound to a chair. I screamed but no sound came out as there was duct tape plastered on my mouth, trying to wiggle around I toppled onto the floor. Crawling on my knees was a problem because I had to drag the freaking heavy chair with me.
Laying in the filthy warehouse, revolting scent of sweat and oil made my stomach churn, I gagged wishing I could just throw up somewhere, I noticed a small wodden table on which different types of knives were placed, hating to think what any psychopath could do with them I shuddered. Fumbling to reach into my pockets for a phone I heard the heavy sound of boots clinking against the hard wood.
Liam's black eyes sparkled, his lips twitching to hold back a smug look as he gazed at me laying near his feet. This idiot, would probably be having an early Christmas after seeing me in this state.
"How does it feel bi*ch? To finally be put in your place, at my feet." Liam growled lightly scarping my cheek with the heel of his boot.
Before I could say something snarky, his boot slammed into my nose drawing blood, I hissed in pain quickly regretting it as his smirk widened. Sick men like him love to see weakness in people's face, I was doing nothing but stroking his ego with all my hisses and whimpers.
"I like to say you use better and branded shoes if you plan on hurting me." I shot back, trying to throw him off guard.
Raising an arrogant eyebrow, his lips twitched biting back a smile, he kicked at my stomach. I closed my eyes, pretending to ignore the blood dribbling down my chin, my nails bit into the ropes around me, holding back a snarl.
"I'm gonna teach you to keep that big mouth of yours shut." He warned lowering a knife into my shoulder. I clenched my fists desperately trying to muffle my screams, but unintentionally let out a high pitched wail when it dug deeper.
"I don't want you to die quickly. You will suffer, and wish for death but I'm not merciful enough to give you that." He released a contended sigh at the blood staining my shirt.
"Adam deserved what he got. Karma comes to everyone and it cloaked his stupid face because that's what your sorry excuse of son deserved." I sneered. Yes I need to keep my mouth shut and not enrage him more. But when have I kept my mouth shut.
"Bi*ches like you don't learn." He bitterly admitted pressing the knife directly on my pulse.
"I haven't cut deep enough, I want to make you bleed." Liam said, as though expecting me thank him for going easy on me.
"After I finish killing you, I will take over your company. Then make everyone forget your name. You will die a pathetic death, and rot until someone finds you, just like Adam did. One day I will finish killing your lap dog Dave, that guy will always be a pain in the a*s. It's so funny that I hired a hitman to kill Dave and poor little Gwen got blamed." he chuckled, hands splaying on the knife he held.

"You will never take over my company." I said confidently as I could trying to ignore the blotches in my vision.
"I lay a trap and you fell into it like a sleepy kitten."
"Did you know L&S made a huge investment in your company?"
"Your gonna die and you're worried about my company, are you sure this is how you will be spending your last moments." he laughed, but a slight crease appeared on his forehead, preventing to see the effect my words had on him.
"Chris has a habit of branching out, he invests on budding entrepreneurs. And using his new auditing firm he bought out sixty two percent of your company shares, using your money he bought out Mr Caron, who gave all of your dirty laundry to the FBI."
"What the hell does that mean?" He roared when I refused to answer, he gathered a fistful of my hair and tugged hard, making my scalp prickle.
"The fact that you used company funds to hire a hitman is creating quite a reputation for you."
"You already stepped down, there is no proof against me. Looks like your finally losing your marbles." Liam tried to keep the panic out of his voice.
"Everyone has proof against you. I am not
resigning, not now not ever. I had twenty four hour time period until then the resignation was not accepted. Guess who did exactly what I wanted to secure my position."
It was my time to laugh but I winced as more blood tricked down my wrist. "I had Ross hack into your phone soon after Dave's attack, I got the details of the hitman you hired. The problem was you didn't approach him directly. We could not put you behind bars until we had a clear confession."
"I have always been around egoistic men in my life, I know how to play them. They need the assurance that their plan succeeded and bet on anything they will trip and make a mistake. That is exactly what you did, the moment you heard I decided to step you came over to gloat, and gave me the confession I so desperately wanted." I told him wanting to spit on to his pathetic face.
"How does it matter if I confess to you or not, it's not like you are gonna be alive to go out and tell people about this, even if you did who will believe you." he goaded me into confessing, which I am more happy to do,
"Out of all the cafes in the world, why would I want to be caught dead in the one you go to. I wanted you to meet me, gloat over your sucess and then, I only had to make you mad enough to act on that anger. It seems borderline cliche how an evil villain cackles manaically and discusses his plan with his captive. It only seemed fair that I take advantage of that."
"Take advantage of what?" he snarled.
"A person is fully set on destroying my life, and you think I'm stupid enough to go out without any backup. My shirt button has a hidden camera, your confession just went live. The FBI just saw you admit to your crimes and are on their way, and you my evil friend are going to jail for a long time."

"How are they going to find you, even if they do. It might be too late, maybe I will finish killing you." he sounded unsure of his plan now, Liam kept glancing at the door, as though reassuring himself of the possible exit routes.
"Everyone knows where you are, this is my property."
"What?"
"What are the chances of you coming across an abandoned warehouse in the middle of nowhere, that meets all your requirements. It was difficult to find, so I thought it would be appropriate to make one for you. Ohh, the burner number you bought this property from was actually Ross by the way.
"Seeing me in the cafe made you put all of your attention one me, it distracted you from the fact that your hitman as we speak of was giving his testimony against you, I made you do something you didn't know you were doing."
"You could have just handed over the hitman, why go through this elaborate plan? Knowing your life will be put in danger." though he didn't keep hate out of his voice, his eyes sparked with admiration for my elaborate planning.
"Good question, Chris pointed out that if I handed over the hitman, there was a chance minor or so, that you could petition for a bail, and a kind judge may even grant you that. Now, you are accused of not only trying to kill one but two bigshots, and your fraud with my company. No sane judge would grant you bail after this, putting you in jail was never a problem for me, the problem lay in keeping you there permanently."
"Dave will take the hitman you hired to the
authorities, Alec and Ross are monitoring my hidden camera, Chris is scouting the area and I'm sure he will find me, Maria is taking this news personally to my board members so the veto to my resignation is annulled, Luke with the help of some officers is busting out all of your illegal casinos. Finally accept that you are scre*ed Liam, as there is no way you can escape this." I told him my voice slurring as the pain in my wrist increased.
"I will kill you Gwen. It doesn't matter because I will surrender after that. I don't have a reason to live anyway." He cackled like a maniac, irritatedly tugging at his hair in frustration.
"I may die today, but it will be a peaceful death. Because my company and my family is safe. I will die with the reassurance that you can't hurt anyone I love again." I told him making an extra effort to keep my eyes open.
"Your plan was awesome if you want my personal opinion, want me to tell you where you went wrong?"
"It's not like I have a choice, you will still yap even if I dont want to hear it." he grumbled, his hand twitched as though wishing he could ram it down my throat and shut me up forever.
"Chris and I are Billionaires, not squabbling teenagers, we have to make mature desicions to run such big empires. The problem came when you underestimated us, never think low of your enemies. We had to take you down and look that is exactly what we did, Chris may be polite and sweet and nice but he has a switch, and you ticked him off when you made me a target. He's not a toddler who throws tantrums, I wouldn't want anyone on his bad side. I always feel it's risky to piss of the quiet and nice ones, because you can't estimate how dangerous they truly are."
Liam angrily slammed the knife against the table and holding my hair securely tried to make a cut on my neck when a gun shot
was heard and I closed my eyes wishing I could cover my ears as well and screamed until I felt my hands and legs being untied and tugged into a warm chest. The smell of chocolate and burnt spices surrounded me, Chris I'm safe. He is here I don't need to worry anymore.
"Is he dead?" I enquired afer seeing Liam making chocking noises and writhing on the floor, Officer Jefferson stood beside me with a concerned expression.
"He didn't deserve jail, he deserves hell and that is exactly what he got." Officer Jefferson said giving me a small smile.
"Our crazy ass plan worked." Chris laughed, holding me tightly.
"Two big masterminds did the planning of course it will work." my voice slurred, a volient pain stabbing through my head, my hand was throbbing, my shirt was wet, why was it wet again.
"My hand it hurts, Why are you spinning? my head feels like... it's going to burst." my voice was incoherant, black blotches appeared around my eyes.
"That bastard cut you up, I will bring him back to life and then kill him again. Get the freaking ambulance fast." He barked at someone.
"Take care of Dave if something happens to me" I tried to say if I do die today I will forever regret not saying goodbye to my best friend.
"Don't be overdramatic, you will take all the yelling Dave will dish out when he sees your condition, he promised to skin me alive if something happens to you. Keep your eyes open, look at me." He pleaded I felt him lift me up softly as I nuzzled his neck and slowly smiled.

The Ruined Monks of Rothfield Monastery
Erin is the youngest member of the dark monks; a supernatural brotherhood whose ultimate mission is to improve the dire circumstances of poor, war-torn villages using powers unique to each member. Or so he was led to believe. Erin, like his brothers, does not age, and that is, unfortunately, the only trait he shares with them. He cannot charm or compel like Woodrow, he cannot cast illusions like Knox, he was not swift like Swithin, not powerful like Blake. He was barely an assistant to his dear brother Wilbur, with his herbology and alchemy. He was told to lie low and make himself scarce. That is what he did. The dark monks temporarily reside in abandoned monasteries scattered around the country, feeding the poor and healing the sick, nurturing the monastic lands until it was fertile enough to raise crops and rear animals. As the years passed, they would leave these reformed, repopulated, self-sustaining monasteries and venture froth to help the next settlement. Yet, after years of toiling and quiet servitude, Erin notices that people and the country itself are declining. The villagers look gaunt, the once-lush soil now barren and cracked. He begins to feel disheartened, thinking that their mission is proving futile. Still, their leader Blake is steadfast and charges onward, and lately has his eyes set on a certain monastery in a thick, thorned forest that seems to diminish, even nullify their powers. A thick forest that Erin somehow has a connection to. A thorned glade where an ethereal voice calls his name with one simple request along with a promise:Heal the land, child. Heal the land and I promise to give you sanctuary so long as you stay. I promise to nurture you as you nurture me. As Erin cultivates the land, the land, in turn, gifts all its caretakers with new, enhanced skillsets on top of their unique powers -- skills of protection, healing, and magic. Magic. Erin had long wished to see the world fill with it again. The people, regardless of common or noble blood, still believe that magic will enter this world again. Magic to bless the king like it did the Saints. Magic to dispel the miasma befouling the world. Magic to bring back the fae folk and their many forms. It is up to Erin to forge the many paths leading to a bright future; to build a prosperous paradise that welcomes all races and bloodlines, by mastering the rewards gained through agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry, smithing, crafting, and fishing. Erin may also find a lifelong friendship and romance with his neighbor, Claude, if he decides to pursue him, and may even join him in the military campaign outside the monastery. The darkness still lurks outside, after all, and the mastery of his skills, along with a few good friends, may finally be enough to turn the tide in their favor. Most of all, Erin wants to keep the vow he set for himself: to protect everyone and everything he loves until his dying breath.
