Chapter 3, Daily life
For every sin a price to pay
I slept like a baby, until someone knocked on my door.
Hanako: Hey Ash, you slept past the morning announcement.
Ashlyn: Oh my god I'm so so sorry, I'm just so tired-
Hanako: Hey it's okay, just hurry we're discussing something important.
Hanako left the room and I headed to the food court a few minutes later.
Chloe: Oh hey Ash, guess what we got?
Ashlyn: I'm so sorry I'm late, what do you have?
Chloe: We hit Jack pot.
Alyssa: That's right, we got a card, a key, and a suspicious remote.
Ashlyn: Suspicious remote???
Miyoshi: We found these in the vent in the Mastermind room. After Hannan's... Task, I think they fell out of the vent. We just didn't see them yesterday since there were many things to deal with.
Ashlyn: What're they used for?
Miyoshi: The card is probably used for the secret room in the electronics store, the key is for the morgue and the remote... We don't know.
Ashlyn: Has Monokuma come to spoil the fun yet?
Ashton: No... So we just guessed that he doesn't care.
Tan Liang: Well then, should we go test them out?
Yu Xuan: We're nearest to the electronics shop, let's go there first.
We headed to the electronics shop with the card.
Crysty's body was long gone, but it was like she was still there.
Chloe: Okay, I got the card. Here goes.
Chloe swiped the card in the reader, and it made a beep sound before the door clicked open.
Randi: YES! IT OPENED!
Tan Liang: It opened!
Chloe: Let's go check out what's inside.
Chloe opened the door and we found ourselves in the same control room we saw in the camera.
Ashton: Woah...
It was a small room with a screen at the end. It showed...

Ashlyn: Nothing?
There were two paw buttons at the sides of the screen.
Chloe: Oh my god this... This is what's used to control Monokuma!
Rachel: Huh why?
Chloe: The paws? This voice changer here near the mic? The button that says "do puhuhu laugh"?
Rachel: Ah.
Hanako: Hey what's this in the floor?
Alyssa: A small hatch. Try to open it!
Hanako grabbed the handle on the hatch and pulled, but it was locked, and the was no key hole.
Hanako: It's locked, and there's no way to open it on the outside? So it's locked on the inside.
Ashlyn: That means there's someone inside???
Hanako: The one controlling Monokuma... Is in here?
Randi: Wish Sumana was here to kick it open...
Miyoshi: ...
Alyssa: Maybe we could all try!
We surrounded the hatch and began to kick at it, but no matter how much we tried, it didn't cave.
Ashton: Dammit! Just come out!
Ashlyn: Let's just give up...
Ashton: Yea... Let's move on.
Miyoshi: Next, we go to the morgue.
We headed to the morgue with the key.
Ashton: This is it...
Yu Xuan: I'll open the door...
Yu Xuan stuck the key into the key hole and turned it until she heard a click. The door slowly opened.
We were hit by the smell of human bodies, this time stronger than before. Then we saw it.
A huge pile of over 50 bodies, all dressed in staff uniform. They weren't bloody or anything, there was almost no blood to be seen at all, but by their pale skin and terrified it was easy to tell that they did not die painlessly.
Miyoshi: What the hell-
Tan Liang: Where are the bodies of the others??? Crysty? Kendric? Annan and Hannan?
Chloe: They're not here... So where are they???
Miyoshi: I don't know they- they can't be anywhere else, unless there's two morgues...
Randi: Or maybe they aren't dead!
Chloe: No that's impossible, we saw them!
Ashton: What's this?
Ashton pulled a long metal skewer out of one of the body's skull, causing some blood to spray out of the hole.
Ashton: Was this the murder weapon?
Miyoshi: No ew that's a dead body don't do that...
Chloe: So they stuck the skewers into their heads to kill them and make sure no blood was splattered?
Ashton: Seems so...
Hanako: Wait, I've seen this before.
Hanako pulled a piece of paper out from her pocket.
Ashlyn: The Japanese restaurant flyer...
Hanako: It says, we use 100% real meat products, and a special method to keep our fish and other meat products fresh. We use a thin metal skewer and insert it into the brain of the product, eg. Fish. By doing this, the meat is preserved and we ensure fresh meat served to our customers. So far, we've served up to 5000 satisfied customers, and you should be next, come to our restaurant today and give our food a try.
Ashlyn: So the method of them killing fish is the same as the way they kill the staff, so what?
Hanako: Well it says they keep them this way to keep them fresh...
Ashlyn: Get to the point...
Hanako: Ashlyn remember when you said you've never tasted the taste of Tan Liang's takoyaki before?
Ashlyn: Mhm...
Randi: I don't like where this is going...
Yu Xuan: Guys...
Ashlyn: Yea?
Yu Xuan: Look up.
From the ceiling came a drip, a small, small drip of blood. And as we looked up, we saw...
Dozens of human bodies, skins, legs, arms, cut up and hung of a metal line with fishing hooks, some bodies had part of their head missing, some had their heart carved out with a meat cleaver, and some were completely gutted. The ones who still had faces were contorted in agony, while the ones who didn't sat hanging in silence, their empty husks of bodies swaying gently, side to side, blood drip, drip, dripping from their red painted skulls onto the cold fridge floor. Where did the pieces taken from the bodies go?
Randi: What the f-
Alyssa: AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NOOO NO- EWW GH-
Alyssa violently threw up.
Tan Liang: His face...
Ashton: I think I need some... Fresh air...
Yu Xuan: Same...
We all rushed out of the fridge and back into the warm kitchen.
Alyssa: What the- gh- I'm gonna throw up again...
Ashlyn: Their faces were- carved out- like with spoons-
Chloe: I want expecting that much blood...
Ashton: Is that what happens to the bodies? They get dissected or something???
Ashlyn: Dissected for what??? Children's biology lesson???
Hanako: No guys... Don't you get what I've been trying to explain to you all this whole time???
Ashlyn: Huh?
Hanako: The fridge, the skewers, the flyer, the bodies on the hooks.
Hanako: They weren't killed for no reason, guys.
Hanako: They are what we've been eating this whole time.

Essentia Animus
Second Book of the Soul - Celesi Veil Trilogy When the living essence of three girls are put at risk, giving room for a second essence within themselves, even their hyper developed fantasy world might not be enough to contain their new found ambitions. Another story of another world, these three girls must adapt to their new essence, all while each is left to question if they are truly still even alive. While this story is a sequel of the previous story in the trillogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, taking place in a distant corner of a Celese returning readers will be otherwise incapable of recognizing. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for the previous book, in case that matters to anyone. This story takes place over two centuries after the events of Vitae Memorandum, when Celese had developed into an advanced world, improved to a point that it is much like modern-day Earth while still using the gift instead of technology. The Aethyx languages are still present in this book, and even English still exists in the world after the events of the previous book, but are much less of a focus after the same closing events of the previous book. What is instead important is how the ending events of the previous book had resulted in the start of the Instrumentation Era, and exactly how the gift translates in a modern-day sense. While this book is still effectively a fantasy world of its own kind of magic, it isn’t the classical medieval scene that would be typical for such a story. The laws of science still do not exist in Celese, but that didn’t stop it from developing into something that looks similar enough. Earth itself still remains present on the other side of the veil, and its previous exposure continues to shape and advance Celese into the world it has become. This story contains scenes exibiting mania and similar dark themes, as it goes to great length to explore concepts of life and death. While the degree of such themes should not be considered to be as serious compared to matters such as actual horror, the psychological depth is still siginifcant enough to be potentially concerning for people sensitive to matters of this nature, such as any individuals with concerns questioning matters of suicide, mental harm, or a variety of emotional injuries. While none of these subjects actually occur in the story, readers who are currently troubled by such matters may find themselves considering old wounds if they are especially capable of empathy while reading, which could lead to furthered emotional or mental stress. Readers with a high capacity for empathy may find themselves troubled by concerns regarding any potential lack of mental/emotional control as well as considerations regarding the meaning of death. Readers who appreciate subtle dark themes in a story may instead find this to be an interesting twist of the same idea.
