The Reject - Chapter Seven

Lost in the moment
There is nothing left to say
Today is the day
Light up the way
I am moving forward
There is not a better day, today ~Today Is The Day - Tim Myers
"Welcome to the Were-Stone Pack house!" Ray, the same Alpha that used to sit and watch the other member beat the crap out of me beamed. I don't like him one bit but he's the Alpha. As a White Wolf, I don't have to bow down to any Alpha, not even Grey. I'll just have to endure this *insert bad word here*.
I looked around and saw that there was either irritation or admiration of the faces of everyone in the pack. Except for the children, they were just curious. I didn't see my mate around here.
I guess they don't wanna be trained by a bunch of people the same age as them, huh? I mind linked to my group as I loosely put my hand on my hip.
Many of the girls were glaring and staring weirdly at me because I still had the human scent but I didn't even cringe. Not this time. They don't control me anymore. Instead, I smirked. The hat was covering my forehead and my eyes were hidden in its shadow, making me look mysterious.
Everyone was crowded in the living room. This pack was one of the biggest packs in America so there were a lot of people. About 90 wolves were present here. There were a lot of new members.
I guess a small pack was combined while I was gone, huh? I wonder why Grey didn't tell me. I mean, since we're the strongest pack in the world and we're working with the Royals, he gets the news of all the packs in the world.
Grey cleared his throat before speaking "We are glad to be here. It looks like some are not too enthusiastic for our arrival." He said referring to the scowling teenagers. I saw some girls swoon at his voice. Are you kidding me?
"Since when does he talk like that?" I mind linked Ashley. She just smirked at me and winked. "First impression is the best impression."
I bit my lip so that I wouldn't laugh. Grey made me get a concussion before I even met him. That must be the best first impression in the history of first impressions.
The Alpha nodded "They aren't all too happy with the idea of being trained by someone not in their pack. I believe you have a human with you." He motioned to me. My smirk returned and I lifted my hand before putting it back down in a careless greeting.
Now almost everyone was glaring at me. Good. Some girls were even staring - wait, is that drool on that girl's chin?- at the boys. I frowned. I feel protective of my brothers and these girls are not even close to being Katie or Lily. Even Ashley.
"She's important to us." He spoke. He clearly had a stronger aura of power than the Alpha standing in front of us. The Alpha and everyone else was obviously confused. I mean, why would a human be important to the strongest pack in the world?
"We don't understand. You are called the strongest pack in the world after all. So, why would a mere human be of any importance?" He asked with confusion written on his face. I shook my head slowly. An Alpha is not to show any emotion in front of anyone other than friends or family. It shows your weakness.

I mean, if you have anger shown on your face, a person can easily anger you more and you might turn into a wolf, in front of public too. Not a good example, I know. An Alpha should just not show any emotion that gives away a good time to attack.
Grey smirked before winking at me secretly "That's the thing, she's not just a mere human. Wanna show them your powers, J- Al?" I could feel the excitement radiating off Ashley.
"Well, what do you wanna see?" I said in a sweet/badass tone. It kinda reminded me of a snake. Ignore that thought. I saw some guys staring at me in awe while the girls glared more furiously at me. I think my first impression here is going good so far.
He thought for a moment before saying with a smirk "How about fighting one of the wolves here?" He said motioning to the group of boys that had muscles as if they were wrestlers. I nodded "No problem at all." With a smirk I motioned towards them to come forward.
"A human? Fighting one of the best fighting wolves in my pack? She'll be dead before the fight even begins!" The Alpha exclaimed.
I smirked at him "We shall see, now won't we?" He glared at me. In a way, I was dis-respecting him and to dis-respect Alphas immediately gets you on the "One-Day-I-will-Hurt-You" list.
He nodded stiffly before say loudly "John, will you come and show this young lady how we fight? A human against a wolf? How idiotic!" He muttered the last part One of those wrestler-like looking guys came forward with a smirk.
"I would love to show you about fighting, Al" he said with a suggestive look. I immediately disliked him. He looks like one of those guys that think girls belong in the kitchen and are good for nothing but the things that should be done in the bedroom. I pity his mate.
My pack immediately growled. Except Grey, he was glaring at the guy. John immediately looked scared for a second and moved three tiny steps back. I mentally sighed, the effects my pack and Alpha can have.
"Only my friends and mentally stable people can call me 'Al'." I said to him while walking outside the door, towards the backyard as if I live here. Well, I used and am going to, anyway.
I could feel his wolf growling at me and cowering from my pack. He didn't see a human as a threat. Oh, little does he know...
I removed the lollipop I had in my shorts pocket and my hat and tossed it to Ashley. She rolled her eyes at me "What did I tell you about eating anymore lollipops? You already ate the one for today!"
Another thing you should know about me, I am obsessed with lollipops. And Ashley has forbidden me to eat more than one lollipop a day.
I looked at her with this childish look and whined "But this is the last one of my favorites!" She just rolled her eyes.
"Shall we begin?" John asked. More like ordered. And my wolf was already thinking of ways to kill him for ordering us. I calmed her down before nodding "A little impatient, are we?"
He rolled his eyes "No, I just wanna get this over with."
I smirked "Scared?" I wanted to anger him before starting the fight. That way, he will just fight with anger instead of paying much attention to my tricks.

He snorted "Scared of you? Please! Me, scared of a human girl?"
"Your girlfriend's a human, ain't she?" I asked him.
"How did you know that?" He asked looking at me suspiciously.
"No girl in this pack would go out with you knowing that you won't treat them properly." I said in a tone that said I-Can-Do-Better-Things-Right-Now. I actually just new that because of a feminine human scent on him, but eh!
He growled before shifting. His wolf was huge but nothing compared to Grey's and my pack's wolves. I looked around the pack before focusing my eyes on Grey. "Let the fight begin?"
He smirked before nodding. "Good luck!" Sammy said. I rolled my eyes playfully. "Sammy, bro, I think you should know that by now I don't need luck." He winked at me.
The whole pack was staring at me with awe. I mean, the supposedly human girl was cracking jokes while knowing that she was gonna be attacked by one of the probably biggest wolves in the pack. They must think I'm crazy.
John's wolf growled loudly, thinking that it would scare me. Please, he sounded like one of the stray cats that love me because I feed them, purring. I scoffed "That's the best you can do, buddy? You sound like a cat!"
One of the biggest insults you can give a wolf is by comparing them to a cat. But if anyone compared me to a cat, I'd kinda like it, for some reason, I like cats. I mean, I can't stop myself from touching animals! It's like I'm attracted to them and vice-versa. That's the reason I'm planning on getting a job at an animal shelter here. I mean, I'm seventeen and I want to save a lot of money before I start travelling like I actually want to once I'm old enough. I mean, I hate being in one place all the time. I'm a very hyper person! It's like, everyday day I wake up with a boost of energy! Grey said so himself!
He growled more loudly this time. I just picked at my nails, appearing bored. He growled a warning growl before running towards me. I dodged him and he almost hit a tree. See what I told about angering him?
He growled and ran towards me again and I dodged him again. This happened for about two times before I got bored.
I heard Ray speak behind me "This is not called fighting! She's only moving away when he tries to hit her!" I rolled my eyes "Do you know, that an Alpha is always supposed to be patient?" I spoke without looking back at him which was extremely dis-respectful.
"Do not teach me how to act as an Alpha, human!" He growled. I noticed that John's wolf had now actually hit a tree and was shaking his head. I rolled my eyes at him and Ray.
"Sure." I drawled out and turned towards him, keeping my ears on alert if John's wolf was coming again. Not that he could hurt me much with a surprise attack.
Ray growled and was coming towards me when Grey put his hand out in front of the Ray. He growled lowly and dangerously.
That growl itself told the Alpha that if he moved any further, he was gonna get severely hurt. I smirked when the Alpha stopped and settled on glaring at me. I so much wanted to stick my tongue out at him.
I heard feet running behind me and waited until they were about a feet close, just when he jumped I turned around and wrapped my arms around the wolf.
As soon as my hands were around him tight I jumped forward, making the wolf fall on his back, hard. I stood up and dusted my shorts and hands. "There," I turned towards the pack "pinned him." I grinned.
My pack had proud grins on their faces while the other pack had awe. As I was walking towards Grey, I heard running behind me and rolled my eyes. Seriously? I turned exactly when he was about to jump and kicked his large head, hard. I tried not to use my wolf strength, though.
"Take that!" I said before walking towards Ashley. My leg was not even paining. I held my hand out to Ashley and she sighed while putting my lollipop on my open hand, along with my hat. I grinned cheekily at her before sticking my tongue out at her. "Careful, I might just take it back!" She said.
I laughed "You won't! I earned it!" I said referring to the fight. Grey cleared his throat before nodding at the Alpha. He had this smile on his face and had his hands held behind his back. He was also wearing the black leather jacket I got for him.
"We should talk about training." I almost laughed at the faces of the people. But I still had this huge grin on my face that pretty much made me look crazy. We all walked inside and Ray motioned us to sit on the couch.
I got comfortable between Grey and Ashley. "So, we need to talk about who is training which age group along with school." Ray looked at us weirdly before saying "You're going to go to school."
Sammy sighed a depressed sigh, being the drama-queen he was, and said "Our parents won't let us skip school even though they are about a thousand miles away." That made some people chuckle. I smiled.
I suddenly felt so much loved by my pack and I just wanted to hug Ashley, Grey, Katie, Lily, Troy and my dear bro, Sammy. I sighed happily. No one noticed and I'm glad for that.
"We have decided that Sam, Troy and I will teach the people between the ages 16 to 18, Lily and Katie will teach the 13 and 14 year olds and Allyn, here will make the younger ones practice." He motioned to us while say our names. Ray immediately objected and Lily, Katie and Ashley sighed.
"We were called here to make your pack learn. We are the ones that will decide who will teach who." Grey said before Ray could speak and nodded. "We would like to go to our rooms now." Katie told Ray. He nodded and motioned to a girl and boy around our age and they immediately came forward. They looked like siblings.
"Brian will get your bags and Brianna will guide you to your rooms." He nodded before dismissing the crowd of people and nodding a goodbye to us, along with a glare to me. I really wanted to stick my tongue out at him so bad.
We got up and turned to look at Brianna and Brian. The girls waved to them and I tried not to growl at them. I remember them. They are the children of Ray's sister. They were one of the people who gave me cuts and bruises almost every day.
The smiles on the girls' faces immediately vanished and I stopped myself from slapping my forehead. I think I just let down my guard.
"They look like so nice people that I could have never even guessed that they were one of them!" Ashley's complaining voice filled my mind.
"All this training and we can't even use our powers against the enemy!" I almost laughed at what Lily thought. I don't think we were supposed to hear it.
"Don't worry." Troy mind-linked her but we could hear him too "We'll have enough time to use it in practice."
"Hi! I'm Brianna and this is my brother, Brian!" Her voice was annoying high. We all nodded with tight smiles on our faces.
"Come on! I'll take you to your temporary pack house." We told her to wait and went out to get our bags, not like Brian cared. With our bags in hand, we followed her to a big two story house that looked newly built. She was talking about school and the Barbies in it all the way there but none of us were listening.
"This house was made especially for your pack. You guys are like the most cared-for guests we've ever had!" And then she started talking to the girls about the "New mall that has everything!" Ashley was definitely listening now.
I walked in and turned on the light and had to stop a gasp from escaping my lips. The house was like Paradise! The kitchen was one of those where you can cook and watch the TV in the living room at the same time. It was shining in the golden lights all around the room.
The whole living room and kitchen had modern furniture along with a sick long TV! It also had game consoles!
The carpets looked so soft and fluffy that I wouldn't mind sleeping on them!
"This is amazing!" Ashley whispered.
"This is more than amazing! It's awesome!" I told her while brushing my hand against the sofa's hand rest.
I immediately asked Brianna where my room was and almost ran towards it. I loved my new room. It had buttery white walls and brown, wooden furniture.
The bed sheets were the same color as the walls. There was a vase with fake reddish-brown flowers. I jumped on my bed and laughed when I bounced. "Oh, I could get used to this!" I mumbled.
I walked out and towards the living room. Everyone was in the kitchen by now. We were all hungry.
"Guys," I said softly and they all turned towards me with concerned looks. "Can I get a hug?" I said with a smile and held out my hands. They all smiled and surrounded me before giving me the most loving group hug I have ever gotten.
I smiled and kissed them all good night before walking towards my room and falling asleep on my soft bed with a smile. I felt so loved that I wanted to cry and laugh at the same time. I even forgot about that lollipop...

The Runners of Westal
Anya Vorian wasn't picky. She'd take any apprenticeship that came her way. Shadowrun: Blake Island School of Magic
It's a high tech, low life. It's the Seattle Metroplex in 2074. It rises like a steel and concrete cancer out of the earth. Poverty is rampant, corruption is everywhere, crime is out of control, corporations basically control everything, the old United States is fractured, magic has come back and now it turns out that humanity has been joined by elves, dwarves, orks and trolls. The old world ended but the rent is still due. Life goes on. You'd be surprised what people can adapt to, especially if they don't have a choice. One of the places where life goes on is just west of Seattle. Surrounded by the waters of the Puget Sound is an island. On that island is the Blake Island School of Magic. A decade ago it was known for producing some of the most talented awakened in the world. That reputation was hijacked by the wealthy corporate elite who now park their teenage children there. And since it's a boarding school, their parents mostly forget about them. Three young people, who are certainly not wealthy or elite, are chosen this year to attend this school of magic in hopes of revitalizing their reputation for talent. One from the ash drifts of the Puyallup Barrens, one from the most densely populated slum hive in the world and one from prison. This is their story. -- This story is set in the Shadowrun universe. If you're not familiar with Shadowrun, it mostly tells the stories of deniable mercenaries called shadowrunners in a cyberpunk dystopia. Instead of telling another story solely about shadowrunners, this story will tell the tale of young people navigating a world that is indifferent to them at best and actively hostile at worst. Shadowrunners will be in the story and we'll see them operate, but they won't be its main focus. This story originally began in 2017 as a passion project and continues to this day on the Somethingawful.com forums. The unedited version is over a million words strong. There are currently seven books in this series and I am currently in the process of editing them.
