《The Reject》Chapter Twenty One - When The Lights Go Down

So let the moonlight cover up my sins
I'm ready for
These shadows washing over me again
Sometimes I feel like the dead of night
Is the only one who knows me now
Cause everything is better when the lights go down
When the lights go down ~ When The Lights Go Down - Jason Walker (The tune of this song is so sweet. Gosh, songs like these make me so emotional!)
The Reject - Chapter Twenty One
After Mrs. C walked off, I nervously looked at the approaching group of boys.
'Hello!' waved an excited looking younger boy. I returned it with a smile 'Hi!'
'I'm Daniel. Nice to meet you.' said a guy who looked like the oldest in the group of 5 boys. I smiled at him 'Hello, I'm Allyn.' he smiled at me and introduced everyone 'And this is George,' he pointed at a handsome boy with light brown hair with greenish- blueish eyes 'That's Kenneth, but we call him Ken,' he was a boy with curly, caramal-colored hair and a cute smile 'This is Yuu Arata,' an Asian guy waved at me, and I returned it. He had gorgeous eyes, the color of chocolate 'This is Christopher, or Chris, ans we call him. He's a sophmore.' Chris was seriously cute looking with this smile with dimples and blue eyes with dark blue rims. It almost looked as if he was wearing contacts but you could tell they were real. They all were really good looking.
'I heard you were in the Art club.' Chris asked, an excited grin on his face. I nodded, a bit put off about the fact that I wasn't gonna be participating in the gallery. 'Yeah, I was but then I was put over here.'
'Why?' Yuu and Chris asked together, and I laughed 'Because I was talking loudly in the library.' I pouted slightly, thanking God when no one saw. 'Really? Were you talking with your girlfriends?' Chris said, obviously getting excited on the word "girlfriend". I rolled my eyes, 'No, it was a guy.' He looked sad, which was very sudden, but it was an adorable face. 'Was he your boyfriend? Were you making out?' I immediately blushed and glared at him.
Well, I tried to, but I was a sucker for cute faces. 'He isn't my boyfriend! And I haven't ever made out with anyone!' and then there was a shocked face. He sure changed his expressions a lot 'You never had a first kiss?!' I glared at him more 'Yes, I've had a first kiss!' as soon as that slipped out of my mouth, I blushed furiously, immediately reminded that the one who'd taken my first kiss was in the same room as me. Chris was about to say something but Kenneth, or Ken interupted him 'Was it him? Who you were with in the library? He was punished with you, wasn't he?' I looked at Jace too, only to find him looking back at me, with a smirk on his face. I scowled. 'Yes, it was that idiot.' I made sure to say the word ídiot louder so that he could hear me. I looked back at him with a smirk, and this time he scowled at me. 'Wait, you haven't ever made out with anyone?' Chris said, with a mischievous look 'Wanna try it?' he wiggled his eyebrows and I slapped his arm. 'Violent girl.' he muttered rubbing his arm, then his eyes lightened up 'That's good too!' everyone laughed when I threatened to hit him on his crotch by raising my knee.

I noticed that George and Yuu weren't very talkative. It was unbelievable how comfortable I'd become with this group already, but they were funny, especially Chris, with his lame pick-up lines. I'd found out that they were acting, and backstage was not their thing. Cocky little boys, they were. Chris was also one of the three sophomore class reps, Yuu and Daniel were Junior class reps. They said that everyone had been practicng for two months.
All the students which had made groups looked at Mrs. C when she clapped her hands. 'Alright, chat time's over everybody! Back to work! Back to work! Hurry on!'
I quickly joined the props crew and started designing the mirror that was going to be in the salon. Mrs. C was taking rounds, checking everything. Ashley was one of the Delta Nu girls so whenever her lines were done, she'd come and try to be closer to Jace, who was painting the bed of the protagonist, Elle Woods, pink in color. I turned around to ask Jace to pass me a light bulb, but when my elbow hit the box of paint brushes and they fell... only to be caught by Noah. He carefully put the box on the table as I stared at him, frozen. When did he get so close? 'I... uh- those fell so I just caught... them.' hs ears turned red and my heartbeat sped up. He looked so cute- I shook my head to get rid of those thoughts and stuttered a thank you. Ugh, this stupid mate connection. I politely smiled at him and turned back to the mirror, wondering how many months left till I could leave. I closed my eyes and sighed. I'm a survivor, I'm not gonna give up, I'm gonna work harder. My eyes opened to see my face on the mirror, only, I had brown eyes, with super black hair. I didn't see my reflection.
And I miss it.

'Thank you both for helping me,' Mrs. C said with a graceful look as she laid down the last box of donations on the ground 'I'm sorry you had to stay so late when everybody has already left.' Jace smiled at her 'It's no problem, Mrs. C.' she blushed and I gaped at him. Did I just hallucinate? I did, didn't I?
'Alright then, go on both of you. I've held you for too long.' she smiled at me, but her eyes lingered on Jace for longer. Maybe I need more sleep.
There was an awkward silence as we walked side by side so I cleared my throat, but I didn't say anything. After a few seconds, I cleared it again and I didn't know what to do. 'Is something stuck in there?' he asked me, without even looking at me and I glared 'No!'
'Oh, I thought so because you were making those thunderous sounds, it could've been an earthquake or, of course, you.' thunderous?! I only cleared my throat! 'You are so annoying! How does that sound like an earthquake?! I only cleared my throat! Gosh, you're so rude!' He continued walking ahead, with his long legs, his strides were long too and soon he was ahead of me. 'Are you listening to me?!' he was just so annoying 'Hey! I'm talking to you! You annoying cow! You are so-' 'No one's called me a cow since the I was 13...' that was me, I'd called him a cow when he'd made me angry 'Oh, you are adding fuel to the fire, you annoying person. You won't get out alive! I will eat you up!' Jace started to snicker and I realized he was taking "I will eat you up!' as an innuendo. I blushed 'I'll eat you up like fire! Fire eats people... uh...' now Jace couldn't control his laughter. I cooled down and smiled slightly too. He looked cute. He should laugh like that more.

'Jace? Is that you?' I looked away from his face when I heard a melodic voice. Jace's laughter ceased and he looked surprised 'Lydia? What are you doing here?' A gorgeous girl suddenly ran up to him, really fast, and before I knew it, she had her hands around him. Jace hesitantly put his hands on her upper back. I felt weird. Maybe I should walk away? I quietly tried to sneak out of the area where the smell her perfume was present. Before I could tip toe away, five fingers were wrapped around my wrists and I was jerked back. I looked at Jace, trying to ignore his hand on mine. 'Uh... Lydia, this is Allyn.' He introduced me and I smiled politely at the girl 'This is Lydia, my... uh friend.' I noticed that he'd hesitated when he said "friend". My chest felt weird. Maybe I need water. 'Oh, nice to meet you, Allyn. Are you two close friends?' Whaaaat? Close friends? I wasn't even aware we were friends! Jace hand around my shoulder, crushing me to his side, his other hand still on my wrist 'Oh yeah, we're extremely close friends.' I was about to interupt when Jace squeezed my hand 'Aren't we, Allyn?' I got that he seriously wanted me to go along with him when he had emphasized my name slightly. 'Yeah, I guess we're close.' I shrugged, making him drop his hand, and smiled sweetly at both of them. 'Oh, really?!' She jumped and took both of my hands 'That's great! We can tell each other everything about him!' when she took my hand, Jace had to let go. Is it just me, or is everything going waaay to fast?
'O-kay.' I said, not liking the fact that she was putting a bit too much pressure on my hands. 'Lydia, why are you here?' Jace asked again and she looked at him 'I came to see you of course!' she exclaimed happily 'I was getting anxious waiting for you in the cas-' 'The house, you mean?' she blushed over her stutter 'Uh- yes, yes, I was feeling impatient to see you again. Ah, my shoelace! It is so different around here!' she bent down to tie her shoe lace and I had a telepathic conversation with Jace. With the help of hand gestures.
Me: Is she your girlfriend?
Jace: NO!
Me: Does she *heart* you?
Jace: *shrugs*
That's all I could gather when she'd finished tying her shoelaces. We walked towards the parking lot, Lydia catching up to Jace in time we reached. Is it just me, or is there always a girl chatting with him? When we reached, I realized that I had no ride home. I sighed. Guess I'll be walking today.
'Where do you think you're going?' Jace asked me. I looked at him 'Home...?'
'Come on,' he sighed 'I'll give you a ride.' he opened the door of the front seat I could feel Lydia glaring at me. Clearly she wanted to sit in the front. 'Nah, it's fine. I want to walk.' with that I smiled at him and walked into the forest behind the school. The place filled with many memories. I'd always go here to have my emotional breakdowns. As I walked in deeper, I let my finger tips linger on the barks of trees. I continued walking. It was exactly as I remembered. The color, the sunlight, the sounds. I felt home. Whenever I came here, I didn't need anyone. I did not have to depend on anyone. I came here to be alone. I wasn't bullied here, or teased or beaten; in fact, I was comforted. I was comforted by the trees that never complained, the soothing sounds of birds, and the light of the sun passing in through the shade of the trees. It was my heaven, this place. Though it was amazing to be here, I've always had a favorite spot. The deeper I walked, the more relaxed I felt, along with a bit of curiousity. Had it changed at all? I followed the rays of light coming through the gaps of the tree branches and leaves...
And there, I found it.
I could hear the quite sounds of the water flowing in the small stream, surrounded on boths sides with greenery. I had discovered this place. It belonged to me. I imagined my 12 year old self, sitting on the only giant rock next to to the water. I was crying, my head between my knees, which were pulled up to my chest. A tear slipped out of my eye. Cruel people. They were cruel to do this to a young girl. They were horrible.
That day, I sat on the giant rock, my head tucked between my knees, which were pulled up to my chest, crying. I cried a lot. I hadn't cried like that since we were abused by the hunters. There was a pain in my chest, and I wanted to get rid of it. I had to get rid of it. Crying seemed to be the only way. I didn't know when I'd fallen asleep, but when I'd woken up, I was in my bedroom, tucked under the blankets.
'Oh, you're awake.' my head snapped towards Katie. She was sitting on a stool next to my bed, a worried look on her face 'You had us all so scared!' All I could manage was a confused look. 'You don't remember, do you?' she asked, worry still visible on her face. 'What happened?' My voice came out as a croak. 'Jessie, you were lying unconcious on the porch! You were just lying there! We thought you were dead!' tears streamed down her face. I immediately put my arms around her and tried to comfort her. She explained to me how it all had happened. Sam and Katie, Lily and Troy had returned late from their dates and had found me lying unconcious on the porch, a boy examining my face. They immediately ran up to me but the boy had already left. He was definitely not human as he was super fast, faster than Sam and Troy, and they couldn't seem to find a scent. He wore a hoodie so they couldn't see his face. I seemed to be fine so they came to the conclusion that I was just exhausted and the boy had carried me back.
Who was he?

Sorry for the short chapter! I've been wanting to indroduce Lydia for quite some time now, and I had to rewrite this whole chapter before it was awful at first! And, you don't have to watch Legally Blonde to continue on with this story, by the way. Legally Blonde's only a tiny part. This book is not ending after the performance. Right, pleeeeeease vote!
And who do you think is that boy? Hint: You don't know much about him.
OH! Who do you like more? Jace or Noah? Or even Grey? *smirk*

Gaia Ark
Commander Coop, a four-armed, power-armored, super-soldier, undertakes a mission to assassinate the head of a religious cult bent on destroying the UPSF and everyone they protect. But no mission is ever that simple. GAIA ARK is an action adventure hero's journey featuring a cranky cyborg, vampiric sword, alien monsters, and enough self-discovery to provide a character arc. It's a little rough around the edges, a little crude. I started writing this story on November 2, 2018. This story is mid-composition. Please expect clunky prose, notes [in brackets], and incomplete...

It’s incendiary stuff—and if Masha goes missing, Marcus is supposed to release it to the world. Then Marcus sees Masha being kidnapped by the same government agents who detained and tortured Marcus years earlier.Marcus can leak the archive Masha gave him—but he can’t admit to being the leaker, because that will cost his employer the election. He’s surrounded by friends who remember what he did a few years ago and regard him as a hacker hero. He can’t even attend a demonstration without being dragged onstage and handed a mike. He’s not at all sure that just dumping the archive onto the Internet, before he’s gone through its millions of words, is the right thing to do.Meanwhile, people are beginning to shadow him, people who look like they’re used to inflicting pain until they get the answers they want. Fast-moving, passionate, and as current as next week, Homeland is every bit the equal of Little Brother—a paean to activism, to courage, to the drive to make the world a better place.
