《Scarlet Wolf》25- Rescue Mission

The whole day, I was restless. I couldn't think straight, I kept pacing, I wasn't even able to concentrate on Agatha Christie I was so anxious. Not nervous, just a little worried. Finally, after hours and hours of waiting, it was time. At around 1:00 at night, I texted Sage. Twenty minutes later she replied, saying that she had looped the camera feed so anyone watching wouldn't be alerted to Ced and I.
"Okay," I whispered lowly. Ced and I were around the corner from the house, and I could see one guard so far. A man sitting in a car, parked across the street from the house. He had been watching him for 10 minutes. All he did was stare at the house, which told us what he was. "Remember the plan?"
Ced nods. "Of course. You stay here, I'll text you when it's okay to come in," he replies, just as quietly, before walking away. He wanders around the street a few times, seemingly lost. Finally, he walk over to the man in the car.
He taps in the window, which the man rolls down.
"I'm sorry to bother you," Ced says, conversationally. "But I'm really lost. Do you know where we are?"
I can't see the man's face, but I here his voice. "Yes," he says slowly, obviously a little wary.
"Could you give me directions to Grove Street?" Ced asks. As the man starts giving the directions, Ced reaches over and grabs the man's neck. He presses down on the bundle of nerves near the base of his neck, and before the man get fight Ced off, he was unconscious.
Ced walks over to the house, pulling a lockpick out of his pocket, and quickly picking the door. He walks inside, closing the door behind him. I wait with baited breath, hoping and praying that the plan goes like it should. I can't lose Ced too.

Ten minutes later, and still no sign of Ced. Fuck it, I think to myself. If he doesn't text me within five minutes, I'm going after him.
Five minutes passes, and I'm about to run in, guns blazing, or in this case, knives drawn. Before I do, my phone buzzes. I pull it out of my pocket, and see a text from Ced. All clear, it reads.
I smirk. Now that I know he's okay, it's time for some fun. Despite the severity of the situation, rescue missions always are kind of fun for me. I had to do one once before, but that's a different story.
I make my way cautiously to the house, on the lookout for other people, in case something had gone wrong. Thankfully, it seemed like everything had gone according to plan. I walk in, closing the door as quietly as I can behind me. I draw one knife, just in case, and search the house. I find Ced coming down from upstairs.
"No sign of Isa," he said. "She must be in the basement."
I nod, and together we walk down the basement stairs, a small pocket flashlight to light our way.
The basement seems like a hangout of some type. There was a couch, with a small table, and a tv up against the wall. A few beer cans were scattered around the room. There were three closed doors on three different sides of the room. I open the first one, to find it unlocked. It leads to the unfinished part of the basement. I search the room, to find nothing. Ced had checked the door closest to mine, to find it was only a closet. The only option left was the third door. Ced tried it. It was locked. He picked the lock easily, and opened it. The first thing we noticed was a muscled woman turn around in surprise. She saw us, and narrowed her eyes, hand going to a gun next to her.

Before she could, however, Ced tackled her, and was able to knock her out. He made a lot of noise though. I hoped he didn't wake anyone up. I walked in afterward, and ran straight to the small bed where there lay a sleeping, bound, and gagged Isa. I tapped her gently to wake her up, and she let out a small whimper as she did so. Her eyes widened when she saw me. I quickly unities her gag, and got to work on cutting the rope tying her hands and ankles together.
"Tala!" She said in a hushed exclamation. "What are you doing here?" She asked.
I flash her a small smirk as I free her arms and move to her legs. "What I always do. Kick ass," I say playfully.
Isa manages a small smile, rubbing her wrists, which now that I looked at and closer, were red and raw from rope burn. My smirk fell and my teeth clenched as I freed her legs. She was hurt, though just slightly. Oscar MacQuoid was going to pay for what he did.
"Thanks," Isa said, throwing her arms around me and kissing me. I kissed her back, setting the knife down on the bed before putting my arms around her waist and drawing her closer. We were interrupted by Ced clearing his throat in the background.
"As charming as this is," he said. "Now is not the time for romance."
Isa blushed slightly, and I nodded. Ced was right.
"Ced, take Isa and get her out of here. I'm staying here to have a 'talk' with Oscar," I order. Isa looks like she's going to protest, so I reassure her I'll be fine. She glances over her shoulder at me one last time, before she and Ced leave.
I sent them off at the right time, because not long after they leave, I hear footsteps coming down the stairs. A man raced into the room, stopping in his tracks when he sees me. He surveys the room quickly. Me, sitting casually on the bed, knives in hand, gun tucked into the waistband of my leggings. Isa's guard, unconscious and tied up, propped up against the wall. Most importantly, the lack of Isa.
He regains his composure quickly. "Ah, Scarlet Wolf, Tala. What a pleasant surprise," he says, not able to hide all his shock and nervousness in his voice. The man's voice matched the one on the message on my phone.
"Oscar MacQuoid. You wanted to talk, so let's talk. I'm very interested in what you have to say, especially after kidnapping my girlfriend and holder her as leverage," I said pleasantly, my tone contradicting the glare in my eyes under my mask, and the fittingly wolfish smirk on my face.

A Girl and Her Food
When a lost girl wakes up without a name, she quickly finds herself alone in a way that people around her can’t fix. Without a real plan and desperate to find what’s wrong with her, she thrashes and bites to stay alive. But human beings are weak things, that band together for strength, no matter who we are. Now if only she could work up the courage to ask one question... It’s normal to get stronger when you drink the blood of monsters. Right? Things to expect: - A powerful but kinda neurotic and emotional protagonist, with some degree of weak to strong. Or maybe strong to stronger, honestly. She's pretty rational and practical about things but won't always make the best decisions, so be warned if you super-dislike characters doing dumb stuff for emotional reasons sometimes. - Lots of dialogue and characterization, especially as we get more into it. It's focused on a single POV, but there might be some sections of other POVs later on, I'm not sure right now. - Magic is on the softer side, but I'll try to keep things fleshed out enough to avoid any obvious "well-established magic could have seemingly instantly solved this problem" moments. - I didn't add the mystery tag because I feel like it implies that this is a detective novel or something, but the story is absolutely incredibly opaque at times. So you'll have the most fun if you go into it trying to puzzle out the nature of events before they're explicitly explained!😇 - Also, I added the genre for completion, but it's gonna take a while to get to the romance. Please wait warmly and have some tea. Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge!

A Challenge To An Arranged Marriage
"Ian? Please. Why are you not answering me?" Lisa shouted raising her voice to probably gain his attention."You want to know the truth?" Ian replied shifting his head away from the painting to look directly at her, staring into her eyes. While he started taking small steps in her direction."You really want to know why we are here." He asked again still moving forward. His voice was deep and hoarse and the way he was looking at her, made her take some steps back that was until her back hit the wall. Without saying anything he leaned forward placing both of his arms around her so that she was now trapped between him and the wall. He moved his face forward directly in front of her.Lisa could feel his hot breathe on her neck as he bent forward to place his mouth on her neck, placing a tender kiss there. Lisa took a large gulp of air trying to control the tingles, she was feeling down there."I was jealous, Lisa," He breathed out in her ears placing yet another kiss just below her earlobe. "I was jealous when you took hold of Cole's hand. I was jealous when you let that piece of shit place his hands on you. I was jealous when you danced with him. I was jealous, Lisa, very jealous." He continued as he removed his mouth from her neck, leaning forward to stare directly into her eyes."So let me tell you the truth. I am a very possessive man, Lisa and I don't share what's mine. And when it comes to you I certainly can't control myself." He concluded as he closed the gap and placed his lips on her.
