《Kindred Spirits》Chapter 1

Zola has been in Mystic Falls for a week and nothing has changed from the last time she was here. Vampires are still roaming around, Elena is drama-filled, but what surprised her was there are werewolves now.
Even though she knew all of this, her dad, Alaric, doesn't want her in it which she hundred percent agrees with him. She has enough problems with her health that the supernatural problem just isn't it right now.
Entering their apartment, she set all her stuff down by the door. Zola had just came back from a doctor appointment for this heart murmur she has.
Zola has had it since birth. Her mom, Tara James, being the druggie she is, took them during her pregnancy. Alaric thought he got her to stop but she was hiding it and doing it behind his back, saying she had to do it.
But because of this, Zola was a still born baby but then somehow, her heart started to beat again. The doctors didn't know why that happened so they kept her in the hospital for a month. But all they could find was that she had gotten a murmur in her heart.
Now she does have her good days and bad. The heart murmur makes it impossible for her to be as active as her dad with his hunter duties, she tends to get nosebleeds sometimes and faint. She does take a bunch of meds to help with that but sometimes, it still happens.
Today is the masquerade ball, and Zola wants to go because she has nothing else to do. Plus it beats from going to her dad's girlfriend's house, which is also Elena's, and being nice to them.
"Dad can I go to the ball today please, I don't want to go to Jenna's house and play nice. I just want to do something fun. That's all"

"Zola, we've discussed this already, no"
"Yeah kid, listen to your dad. If he says no, it's no" Damon says.
"Why not?" Zola whined
Alaric huffed and looked at Damon. He just shrugged
"Fine, you want to go" Zola nods while smiling
"Okay, you can go but you listen to everything Damon says. Do you understand?" Alaric tells her.
"Yes okay, that's fine. Thank you" She ran to him and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"When did I become a babysitter" Damon exclaims
Zola looks at him and giggles softly, running to her room to take a nap before the ball tonight.
--------
Zola, having slept in for a bit, wakes up to someone touching her shoulder.
"Hey kid, wake up"
She opened her eyes softly to see Damon standing over her with a dress in his hand.
"Your dad already left and since he knew you were tired from lack of sleep, he asked me to get you a dress. It's not much but it should do"
She nods at him, getting up holding her head. It's pounding a little "You okay?"
"Yeah, just a slight headache but I'll be fine"
He nods and hands her the dress "I'll be using your dad's room to get dressed. Hurry kid, we don't want to be late"
She gets up, looks at the dress and mask he gave her, and she smiles softly. It's cute and she can't wait to put it on.
Getting ready, she puts her hair in a high ponytail and a soft makeup look. Finishing up, she walks outside to see Damon on the phone. He turns around and sees Zola walking out her room, and he hangs up.
"Cute. now let's go" He grabs her hand and they get to his car. He opens the door for her and then goes to his side and gets in.

"Now listen, I know your dad said I was to look after you so Imma need you to stay in the public area. Don't go anywhere alone okay?"
She nods, not really listening, while looking out the car window.
They get to the Lockwood house and see a bunch of people already. Damon helps Zola out of the car and into the house. He leads her towards the bar and tells her to stay around here. Then he leaves, probably trying to look for Stefan.
Zola grabs a glass of champagne, and starts to look around the house, having not been in here before. She also notices that the scooby clan was acting weird and she wanted to know but she knew that it would only be bad for her in the end.
It's been a couple of hours and she is way too tired to keep up at this ball. Having danced and drank a bunch of champagne, of course she would be tired. Plus it would be getting around the time to take her meds.
She walks around looking for Damon but she can't find him.
Of course he would leave without her, she thought
She looks around for someone else that could possibly take her home. She saw Carol Lockwood. She walks over to her
"Hi Carol"
"Hi Zola, did you enjoy yourself today?"
Zola nods and she goes to ask her to take her home but a sudden, horrible pain in her head makes her cry out. It hurts so bad that she starts to cry.
"Sweetheart. Are you okay?" I hear Carol ask. She grabs her to make sure she doesn't fall..
But Zola couldn't really answer because her focus went somewhere else.
Zola starts to get little clips of what looks like the outside of the Lockwood mansion. The clip finally slows down, just enough to see someone get grabbed from behind and passes out. She notices that person is Elena.
Finally that pain relieves, letting Zola come back to the present. "Zola, are you okay? Maybe I should call your dad"
She looks at Carol and shakes her head "No, it's okay. I'm fine. I just had a terrible pain in my head. I just gonna go, get home and sleep it off"
Carol hesitantly nods and lets Zola go. "Let me take you home okay. Just wait for me outside, I need to grab my keys"
Zola nods and walks outside to wait for her. She notices that everything out her is the same way that was in that little thing back in the house. She looks around and sees Elena walking towards her car. She also notices that someone is slowly walking up behind her.
Knowing what's gonna happen, she goes to call out to Elena but someone grabs her from behind and puts a rag in her mouth. Zola starts to get weaker and weaker until she passes out.

I, Mor-eldal: The Necromancer Thief
As a budding little necromancer, I soon discovered that the world of city people is complicated. When my master kicked me out of the cave, he warned me not to talk about my “dark” magic, because people here don't like the undead. I am not really an undead, I just have a skeleton hand, but it is better to be careful. Anyway, that's not my biggest worry. In the Black Dagger brotherhood, I learn a lot of things, such as illusionist magic, which turns out to be quite handy to survive in this maze of streets: in the Cat Quarter, we have thugs of all kinds that are best avoided. But we also have good people, goodhearted “gwaks”, as we say around here. Little did I know that I would soon be caught up in an infamous traffic that would entangle my life even more. With a mix of lighthearted adventure and picaresque, this story narrates the hectic life of a good-spirited street child and his companions in a medieval urban fantasy setting with some nineteenth-century influences. Updates Mondays and Fridays. This is a Creative Commons By work. It is a translation of a trilogy I wrote in Spanish between 2017 and 2018.

Unprotected Sects
When freshly-graduated Dr. Selva Imroth accepted a short job from her former doktormutter, she had expected to interview a few PhD washouts and write a report to the Dean. Unfortunately for Selva, everything in her life has to be an ordeal. Updates every weekday, but not on the weekend. I hadn't planned on doing NaNoWriMo, but then on Halloween night I was sharing an old plot bunny with a new friend and realized, "oh shit I can actually use this." So, here we are. Thanks, friend. In true NaNoWriMo fashion, I will not be using my typical editing process here, and will instead simply vomit words onto your screen as quickly as possible, trying valiantly to avoid asking myself "oh my god who CARES" because tangents are important to wordcount.
