《With You |COMPLETED》Chapter Seven | how to not trust Damien Carter

Was my weekend full of excitement?
Yes.
Is my weekend over?
Yup.
Damien dropped me off at my house without a word and I was thankful he didn't say anything. After my embarrassing flirting skills I didn't say a word. I either fell asleep or listened to music, trying to ignore his presence.
It was Monday morning and I sat at the kitchen counter, watching Emily dig through my fridge for breakfast. Oh, did I mention she busted into my house at four in the morning to wake me up?
Four in the morning!
What kind of animal wakes up at four in the morning for shits and giggles?
That animal is Emily.
I was fully dressed wearing a white cropped t-shirt and ripped up boyfriend jeans. What was the bad part about it? Emily insisted on me wearing nude two-inch heels that were almost sandal looking. I don't have a problem with heels but flats sounded so comfortable right now. My hair was in natural loose curls and I was too tired to even put on mascara.
"Here you go!" Emily chirped, placing a bowl of yogurt with cut up fruit in it on the counter in front of me. I gave her a small glare but I was grateful. "so?" I dragged out, my eyes watching her. Xavier had texted me last night saying he had asked her on a date, I was just waiting for her to tell me.
She looked at me awkwardly, shrugging her shoulders. Was she really not going to tell me?
"When are we going to go Em?" I questioned, changing the subject. I took a scoop of my yogurt mess, stuffing it into my mouth. She checked her watch before grabbing my bowl from me, "now actually!" I let out an annoyed huff before getting up and grabbing my backpack. I was pouting as I walked to the door, pulling my key out as Emily ran out of the door.
Why wouldn't she tell me about her date?
I locked the door, putting my key back before I turned to look at a car that wasn't hers, Xavier stood outside my house giving me a small wave.
Great.
I'm being sarcastic, one hundred percent sarcasm.
"What's up your ass, Kid?" Xavier asked as I walked past him to the back seat. It felt weird to be called that again but it was also comforting. It felt like something in my life was still normal. "Well, your dingleberry here woke me up at four in the morning," I grunted, plopping into the back seat as he let out a chuckle.
Emily buckled herself in the passenger seat. Xavier, and her falling into a conversation as I zoned out.
Maybe if I just shut my eyes I-
"Thea we're here!" Emily squealed making me almost hit my head on the window out of surprise. I let out a heavy sigh as Xavier opened the door for me, letting me unbuckle before sliding out of the seat.
"There you are!" Ashley called, getting out of her car that was beside us. She came up to me with a small smile, grabbing my shoulders. "Do not let her come over early ever again," I whispered, watching Ashley nod at my joke.
I wasn't joking. Well, maybe a little.
She wrapped an arm around me as we headed toward the school, Emily and Xavier walking behind us. "Has she told you yet?" I whispered, watching Ashley shake her head no. I hope Xavier didn't expect me to not tell Ashley because that was never going to happen. I texted her before I went to bed about it.

Sorry, not sorry.
Ashley opened the door for me as I walked in, her body following after me with a bounce in her step. I wish I felt an ounce of pep today, but I was far from that. My body found its way to my locker, while Ashley leaned again the one next to me. We had no idea where Emily went but I didn't care, I was slightly annoyed with her.
Four in the morning people and she wouldn't tell me about her date!
"When do you think she-" Ashley started but was cut off by a wicked voice. I felt my eyes roll into the back of my head, hearing Kyla talk. "Would you look who decided to join us," she smiled, her eyes turning to me as I shut my locker, leaning against it.
"Can we help you?" I asked, placing a book into my backpack before finally giving her my full attention.
Her body moved closer to me before speaking, her strangely matching friends staying on the other side of the hallway. "Help me? What about your brother, little miss privileged." She seethed out, throwing me off guard. "What are you talking about?" I growled out, my eyes watching her.
No one would know about that here, nobody but Damien.
"I told you to watch your back Thea," She spat at me, her arms crossing in accomplishment. I didn't even know what else to say, my mouth was just slightly opened trying to piece together a coherent sentence. "You didn't think he actually liked you, did you?" She laughed, her eyes flickering over my body. Ashley let out a small laughing sound, her body moving closer to Kyla, "Don't you have a chocolate factory to work?" She hissed. Ashley had to slightly bend down to even meet her eyes because of her heels.
Kyla let out a gasp, her mouth slacking open before she took a couple steps back. "Girls!" Kyla snapped, her body moving to walk away. "Yeah, break's over you Oompa-Loompa!" Ashley called out, smugly crossing her arms. I was still in the same state I was moments ago only this time I had water in my eyes.
"Listen, you don't have to tell me yet- I fully respect your privacy, but how would she know that?" Ashley gently spoke to me, her hand grabbing my arm. I was in the worst state of disbelief ever, giving her a worried look before answering, "I told Damien."
My body quickly made its way through the hallways with Ashley. I was livid and surprisingly enough, Ashley was too. My eyes still had tears in them but I was trying to push them back.
I saw Xavier in the Commons, knowing I had found them all. Xavier gave me a smile but it quickly dropped when he saw my face, "what's wr-"
"Did you know about Kyla?" I hissed out, watching him shake his head. "Thea calm down, what's happening?" He grabbed my shoulder but I shrugged him off, pushing past him to Damien.
"You told Kyla?" I breathed out, watching him turn to me with a confused look. "What are you talking-" Damien started but Ashley cut him off, "Don't play dumb. Kyla just talked about her brother."
"You have a brother?" Xavier asked making me turn to him, "he's dead and the only person I told was Damien." I watched Damien stay quiet, a dumbfounded look on his face. He opened his mouth to say something but I shook my head, "You know, I don't know why I thought I could trust you."

"Thea I didn't d-"
"Do not lie to me," My voice raised slightly causing him to shut his mouth. "I trusted you, Damien. I thought I could trust you," He took a step forward to me, causing me to hold my hand up. I took a step back, feeling Xavier grab the back of my shirt. "Thea I didn't-"
"Just stop." Ashley threatened, her body moving protectively in front of me. Emily was by Xavier, absolutely baffled at the situation.
"You and Kyla are perfect for each other." I felt a tear fall down my cheek making me quickly wipe it away. I saw his face break the stone cold expression he was holding, he looked shocked.
I was shocked I even said that. "Thea let me explain," He asked gently, making me stay behind Ashley. "Just stay away from me." My voice cracked, feeling Ashley grab my arm to walk away. I watched his eyes for the first time as I walked away, they were filled with an emotion I had never seen before. He looked upset like I had killed his goldfish.
Then, as I turned the corner, his face hardened again like nothing that went on just happened. What kind of human being would pretend like that didn't happen? I opened up to someone and they completely backstabbed me. Now, the one person who could potentially mess my entire life up knew things a didn't want them to know. They weren't the worst things, but it was still important to me. It was a part of myself I let Damien see and now I feel like a complete idiot.
"Don't worry," Ashley said gently, seeing Emily round the corner.
Glad she could finally join the party.
She grabbed my hand gently, "I'm sorry I wasn't there." Emily felt bad, I could see it written all over her face. I nodded at her comment before turning to the area of my class.
I don't remember paying attention in my three classes. Emily kept stealing glances at me but I ignored her. It wasn't because I was mad at her, I just didn't feel like talking to anyone anymore.
It was fourth hour and Emily was knocking on my desk to snap me out of my thoughts. I turned to her to notice an almost empty classroom. "Come on, lets go to lunch," her and Ashley have been really gentle with me and I didn't like it. I nodded my head at her, slowly getting up from my desk.
We both quietly walked to the cafeteria, my eyes watching the floor anxiously. I glanced up at the table before doing a double take. Xavier and Alex sat with Ashley, in deep conversation until I arrived. I plopped down into the chair on the left of Xavier while Emily sat down on his other side. Xavier gave me a smile that I barely returned before leaning back in my chair.
"You gotta eat something T," Xavier mumbled, making Ashley eye me curiously. "I will," I gave him a reassuring smile that only caused him to let out a heavy sigh.
"He's joking right?" Ashley choked out from her water. Her eyes widening to watch someone behind me. I turned my head to a sight that almost made me vomit. I didn't know exactly why I felt this way but I can't help my stomach from turning at the sight of Damien. He had his arm wrapped around Kyla's shoulder, their bodies close as they into the lunch room.
I quickly turned my head back to my table, trying to unsee the mess I've fallen into. Ashley shot up, obviously mad. "If he thinks he's getting away with this he isn't," she hissed, trying to move out of the table, but Alex quickly wrapped his arm around her waist. He pulled her back into her chair, trying to stop her from creating more problems.
"Please, lets at least have an okay lunch," I begged, watching Ashley nod with a subtle sigh. I glanced back again, watching Damien sit at a table with her and her crowd.
Why did I even attempt to get to know someone like him? He was rude, unapologetic, secretive and well, a bad boy.
"Hey," Xavier called, making me glance at him. I needed to pull it together. He didn't matter, he was just a boy.
I pulled the biggest smile I could muster up, which wasn't big at all. "When were you guys going to tell us about your date?" I questioned, causing Emily to let out a string of curse words before pulling out her wallet. I rose an eyebrow at the situation, watching Emily hand Xavier five dollars. "I told you," he started, getting an eye roll from Emily.
"Were you two betting on me?" I gasped, trying my hardest not to laugh at the situation. "Yeah. I bet you would say something before the end of the day, and Emily thought you wouldn't say anything," He chuckled, rubbing Emily's back as she pouted. Ashley let out a loud laugh, her hand quickly covering her mouth as she felt Alex's eyes on her.
"Thea, can I talk to you?" A voice called from behind me. I turned to look at Tyler, his face was still bruised, but it was healing.
Why me?
Why today?
He looked anxious, his eyes blinking rapidly in fear. I knew why he was scared. Xavier was looking at him like he was going to kill him. "I don't think that's a great idea," I whispered out, my body turning back to the table. He reached out to grab me causing Xavier to push out his chair, stepping in front of me.
"I think it's time you leave," Xavier's voice had gotten deeper, giving Tyler a small shove.
The cafeteria was silent, I mean like pin drop silent. Tyler took a step back, holding his hands up in surrender. "I just wanted to talk to h-"
"And I'm telling you, lay off," Xavier hissed out making me grab his hand, trying to stop him. My eyes couldn't help but travel over to Damien, his eyes never leaving my face. "Please stop," I whispered, but I didn't know who I was talking to.
Xavier, who was almost about to kill Tyler or Damien, who had his arm wrapped around a girl that hated me.

This goodness has a name, and a face of salvation and I for one know I shouldn't get involved. Guess what I do? I get involved. Because even if I don't want too that's not really how fate works, is it? You don't pick and choose fates plan, you get slammed with it and good luck to your poor soul. This is my story, the kind that was written years before I was even born, and now I'm living it. Watch me make a mess of it too, because after all, I wasn't born to follow. P.S. This book is technically #1, but I have a book before this one that's about their parents. You learn more, and get a clue about their parents and why they are the way they are. Some of the conversations in this book would make more sense by knowing the past. It's not as well written, but if you can get thought it, I promise you'll love this one even more. Of course if you rather start here, then you do you! It will make sense either way! I tired to fill in all the gaps without it getting overbearing. You can always hop back to the book before this after.
