Day 1
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Both teens scream, Relon slamming the door close. Looking to the floor with a massive blush over what just happened.
No way... No way! No way! Wait, calm down. Think. There's a pretty girl right outside who looks a lot like You-chan. There must be a reasonable explanation for this.
On the other side of the door, the grey-brown-haired girl is blushing herself looking away from the door.
No way... No way! No way! Wait, calm down. Think. He must have just taken his shower. That must explain why he's naked. Yeah, that's it!
"What's with all the ruckus, you two?" Both teens look up to a woman's voice come into play.
"Ms. Lucinance." The girl's voice responds.
"Huh? What are you doing up here, You-chan?"
No freaking way... Relon groans lightly banging his head on the door.
"You said the bathroom wasn't occupied!"
"I was referring to the one downstairs." She points over her shoulder with her thumb to notice the blush on her face, a smirk making it's way onto the mother's face. "Don't tell me. You couldn't wait to get a piece of my handsome son after all these years." The girl now recognized as You widens as her blush intensifies.
"THAT'S NOT IT AT ALL!" She exclaims for the sound of Relon facepalming to sound from behind the closed door.
"Hehe, ah, I've missed teasing you. Relon should be in the shower if not finishing up. Relon!"
"... Yeeeaaaahhh?"
"Hurry up and get dressed so you and You-chan can have a proper reunion. We'll be downstairs in the living room. Don't forget it's not good manners to keep a lady waiting."
He listens as the sounds of their footsteps soon cease. Bending forward, he rock back laying on the tiled bathroom floor. The image of You's shocked expression mere moments ago coming to mind.
I can't believe the first time in 6 years we see each other ended up like this. He facepalms slowly sliding his hand from his face. The image comes to mind once more, a blush reforming on his face. She's gotten cute. Argh, now isn't the time for that! Sitting up, he claps his cheeks discarding his blush temporarily.
Opening the door carefully, he looks down the hall. Seeing the coast is indeed clear, he quickly runs to his room closing and locking the door behind him. Sighing, he reaches into his dresser drawer pulling out a white T-shirt and his black and red-striped pajamas.
"Damn it, my whole body's trembling right now!" He mutters. Taking a deep breathe, he holds it for a moment before exhaling. "No time like the present." He opens the door stepping out. "Nope. Noping out." He turns back inside. "Damn it, Relon, just go!" He pinches himself hard as he forces himself out of his room closing the door.
Like Shia LaBeouf said; Just do it!
Prepping himself mentally, he makes his way downstairs. Once the living room becomes visible, he stops taking in the sight of his childhood friend seated on one of the couches and looks to see his mom still at work on dinner. Hearing his footsteps, You jumps slightly, most likely from whatever thoughts she was having, to make eye contact with Relon. Both regain their blushes as they avert eye contact.
He continues down taking a seat across from her on the other couch with a small glass table between them. Giving another glance, both make eye contact to quickly avert them once more.

Man, what do I even say after that?
Jeez, what do I do? She wonders looking at the cup she's lifted from its canister.
Glancing at the two teens, Mé sighs.
It's not hard to put two-and-two together. Seems I have no choice.
"What's with you two?" She calls out while stirring the pot gaining their attention. "You two used to bathe when you were kids, right?"
Relon widening followed by You releasing a sudden spit take directly at Relon.
"Oh my God, I'm so sorry!" She apologizes rushing to the bathroom returning not even 30 seconds later with two cloths assisting Relon dry off. "W-why would you bring that up, Ms. Lucinance?! That was years ago!"
Yep... that's the You-chan I remember. Relon sighs wiping the now recognizable tea from his now soaking face.
"What's the problem? You two are acting weird so I thought I'd help ease the tension. I mean you guys are best friends let alone childhood friends so it shouldn't be that hard, right?" She wonders in a thinking pose placing the ladle to her chin.
"Well..." You grows quiet glancing to Relon, his face hidden behind the cloth.
"Mom has a point..." He lowers the cloth revealing a wry grin. "Wouldn't you agree, You-chan?" He stands tilting his head looking to the surprised girl for her expression to shift to one of amused understanding.
"She's always had a point, Relon-kun."
"Wanna pretend like earlier never happened?" He wonders grinning.
"What are you talking about?" You now the one to tilt her head.
"I have no idea." He shrugs, both looking to the other before breaking out into fits of laughter. Wiping a tear, he speaks up. "It's been a while, You-chan. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't happy to see you but what are you doing here?"
"You know how these last few years I've been an abroad student, right?" He nods. "Well, mom, dad, an I were staying here for our vacation. When it was time to leave, I didn't want to go so I asked your mom if I could stay here. Both parents said yes and the rest is history."
"That explains why you weren't answering the group chat."
"Ehehe, sorry about that. Wanted to surprise you guys."
"Oh, you surprised me alright."
"Hmmm?" She leers at him.
"Nothing. Nothing. But, really, it's good to see you." His words causing a smallest of blushes to form at her cheeks.
"Y-you too, um, Relon."
"... Eh? Where'd the honorific go?"
"I mean, we've known each other since we were kids. So there really isn't a need for honorifics between us, don't you think?"
"W-well. I guess you have a point... You-chan?"
"No. Try again."
"Erk... You-san?"
"Why are you being so stubborn?" She deadpans with crossed arms.
"You know how hard it is to break habits!? Mom's the one that taught me over and over and over and over and over to use the correct honorifics when addressing people as a sign of respect to not embarrass them or myself!"
"That is true~" Mé hums from the kitchen. "Now then, what say we settle down because dinner... is served." Mé announces playing the pot in the middle of the table.
Thank you, mom.
"Sounds good to me." He quickly leaves down the hall opening the bathroom door, the sound of the running sink can be heard.
"He could have washed his hands in here." His mom mentions. "Oh well, he's probably just nervous seeing you."

"What makes you say that, Ms. Lucinance?"
"Whatever happened to Auntie Lucy, huh, You-chan?"
"Huh?! W-well, I mean..."
"Ahaha, I'm only joking. But now do you see where Relon is coming from?"
"I-I guess I do. I guess I shouldn't have jumped the gun so early." She says walking to the kitchen washing her hands before taking a seat with Mé at the table.
"Give it time, he'll come around."
"What makes you say that?"
"Because what just happened between you two happened with me and Kalos."
"Really?"
"Mhmm. And I've already told Relon this story myself. He probably thought back to it when you referred to him as such."
"Then..."
"He's probably still surprised to see you." This causing the girl to look confused. "Oh, come now, think about it. His childhood friend who he hasn't seen in six years appears out of nowhere now a stunning beauty." She whispers.
"W-what?! I-I'm not-
"Don't you even deny that. You look so much like your mother. And those glasses make you look even more beautiful. I'm sure Relon thinks the same." Mé's words causing You's blush to return full force.
"Alright, I'm back." Said boy announces to stop looking between both women. "Did I miss something?"
"No, just some girl talk, right?" Mé winks.
"Y-yeah, that's all."
"Now then, let's eat, shall we?" Mé claps her hands together as Relon takes a seat, both teens clapping as well.
"Thank you for the food."
"Man, I missed Mom's cooking so much. A year without it was rough." Relon says rubbing his stomach as he and You walk up the steps.
"She was always famous for making the best curry." You laughs as they reach the top.
"I just realized something."
"What is it?" She walks besides him looking on with curiosity.
"You'll be staying with us just like old times."
"Yeah, I thought that was obvious when I told you back downstairs."
"Yeah, it's just... It's just starting to sink in that we'll be living together like before." His words causing her to stop in her tracks immediately going wide-eyed. "Hm? What's wrong."
"I-It's nothing! Just try phrasing things better in the future." She says calming herself down.
"Phrasing? What are you talking about?"
"Forget about it. But go on with what you were saying."
"Okay...? Like I was saying, since we'll be together again, it feels good having my best friend back."
"O-oh, that's what you meant." She mutters, a sigh escaping. Placing her hands together behind her, You smiles at Relon. "Yeah. The same goes for me. I missed you, Relon." Her words causing a tingly feeling to surge within the boy as heat rises to his cheeks.
"Y-You too." He averts his eyes momentarily to look back to the now blushing girl.
"So! How was uncle- Er, Mr. Lucinance? You only ever briefly talked about him."
"My dad? Oh..." He grows quiet, seeming to become lost in thought.
"Relon?" Her call seeming to snap the boy.
"He was... something. Mainly focused on my training and styff like that. 7/10 is what I told Aniki."
"That's right! I forgot he is living here again! So that means we'll all be back together."
"Yeah! Did that just sink in?" He gives a hardy chuckle.
"Hmpf!" She pouts. "Maybe I did!"
"How?" He chuckles once more placing a hand on his hip.
"... Reasons." She looks away.
Hm? Reasons?
Opening her eyes, she glances at picture frames on the wall.
"Hey! These sure bring back memories." He looks at her point of interest walking with her to stand in front of the pictured-filled hall.
"That's the one from when we first met. I'll never forget how we beat the rest of our class."
"That was the start of an unbreakable bond. One years spent apart couldn't break."
"Yeah." Relon agrees looking to another. "That's the one where dad took us and Miguel fishing for the weekend."
"Oh, so you have no problem saying Miguel without honorifics."
"That's different. Miguel told me to stop with that years ago. Right around the time I started calling him Aniki now that I think about it."
"Hmmm."
"I swear!" He defends with raised hands.
"... Pfft. I'm just messing with you. I was apart of the chat when that happened, you know."
"Oh yeah... forgot. Score one for you."
"So you can call me by by name."
"Not that kind of you." Relon rolls his eyes looking at another photo. "This is..." He picks one off the wall.
"The last picture we took before we all separated. It also happens to be my wallpaper." She pulls out her phone.
"Mine too." Relon retorts showing his phone.
"I'd say it's time for an update, don't you think?"
"I second that. We can do that tomorrow when we go see Aniki."
"Perfect! The whole gang back together again!" She cheers, Relon grinning.
"Hell yeah!" You grinning to him for something to gain her attention at the happy boy.
Leaning back, You takes in Relon as a whole.
He mentioned working out these past few years but especially hard this past year with his dad. His muscles are noticeable if I look hard enough. His hair looks like it's for kept than what his photos showed, but his eyes. Those dark red eyes looks the same as the last time I saw him; Strong.
Recovering to look back forward, Relon's eyes scan You who seems lost in thought as his eyes begin to roam.
She's really trained hard these last six years. It's easy to tell by how toned her legs are. Even with that jacket on, I bet she's got the physique of a swimmer. Physique... His eyes trail from her waist upwards momentarily lost in the sight of her chest. And... those look nice too. His eyes continue their descent gazing at her sapphire eyes. Those clear blue eyes looks the same as I last saw her: Beautiful.
Both continue to unconsciously gaze into each other's eyes before a sound from downstairs snaps them out of it. Looking in wonder downstairs, both return to eyeing the other, You tilting her head.
"I'm now noticing it." She comments stepping closer to him.
"Noticing what?" He wonders becoming slightly nervous as she draws up to his face.
"We're about the same height now." She reveals comparing them with a hand.
"O-Oh, yeah. Before, I was a little taller, huh?"
"Mhm." She agrees finally noticing his tinted cheeks to realize how close their faces are to quickly step back with pink cheeks of her own.
"S-So, once school starts, I'm guessing you're going for the swim team?"
"Y-Yeah, and you're going for soccer, right?"
"You know it!" He exclaims confidently, the once uneasiness already gone.
"I always think that you'd try out track instead but you're still the boy that can't stay still." She stifles a giggle.
"The one and only. And still proud of that. But hopefully the sports schedules won't line up."
"What makes you say that?"
"Why do you think? So I can root you on as you win of course!"
For some reason, the thought of him seeing her in swimwear just seemed to rile You up but she quickly suppressed what could only be described as embarrassment with You feeling her cheeks begin to warm up.
"Thanks, Relon. And the same for me with you and soccer!"
"Definitely! Hey, now that I think about it, why did you stop sending pictures? And why are you wearing glasses?" His question causing the girl to go silent taking a seat at the top of the staircase. "You-chan?" He walks over looking down at her. "Did something happen?"
"Six months ago, I got into an accident why swimming. I still don't understand it but something hit my eyes and impaired my vision.
"Wait, are you alright?!" He interrupts, worry in his voice as his hands place on her shoulders. "Why didn't you tell us?!" Taken aback, she gives a small smile.
"Because it wasn't so serious. Not in the way I make it out to be. Honest." She looks up at him, Relon releasing his claps from her. "My eyes just got damaged so I have to wear glasses or contacts if I want to see. Otherwise..." She lifts a hand taking off the glasses. "Things becomes a little blurry. Up close it's not so much a problem but from afar, it's all a blur."
"Not so serious...!" She puts them back on to take in the sight of a slightly trembling Relon. "Hearing you get injured is serious to me, You!" Her blue eyes open wide. "It's frustrating that you didn't tell us nothing but it's even more frustrating that I couldn't do anything to help!"
"Relon..."
"Just like back when I got hurt how you were there to help me out, I'm going to be there so you won't get hurt again." He punches his open hand, determination etched on his face.
Baffled, You Watanabe can only stare in awe at her childhood best friend.
That face. It's the exact same as back then when we were running from the police...
"Come on, You-chan! Don't stop. I swear I won't let them catch us!" The voice of a young Relon sounds in his mind.
Looking at him, a smile graces her lips as she stands up.
"Aye aye." Her sudden calm words momentarily confusing him as she leans forward.
"Huh?"
"If trouble comes my way, I'll be looking to my knight in shining armor for help." She whispers to him.
And just as fast as the confidence came, it leaves to once again avert his eyes.
"Y-Yeah. Leave it to me." He musters as he watches her walk to her door, her hand stopping on the doorknob.
"Thanks for everything, Relon. That includes calling me You. Goodnight." She bids opening the door.
"Yeah, anytime. Night. Sleep well." He recovers to smile at the girl, both opening their doors to close it behind them.
On the other side, both lean against it, a warm smile to their faces. You looking up to the ceiling and Relon down the an open palm before grasping it together.
One things for sure...! Both think.
"This year will definitely be an interesting one." Mé chuckles taking a sip of tea looking through the railing to where the two once were having listened to their whole interaction. "Interesting indeed."
