《I'm Stuck! [The Umbrella Academy : Five Hargreeves X Reader]》Chapter Four

[Name] entered the room that was apparently next to Klaus' room, noticing that it's quite clearly a guest room with only a single bed and a wardrobe with a study table in it.
She couldn't help but also muse about her mom and two brothers, how they were faring knowing that she was just with them a few hours ago. As much as she has loved being with the Hargreeves, it doesn't mean she can just abandon her family like that.
"[Name] hurry up! We're gonna be late!" Called her brother. She sighed in exasperation as she double checked her backpack, making sure everything she needed was in there. It had her phone, charger, wallet, alcohol, cologne, an extra shirt, etc. Just the necessities.
They were about to have a day off at a small town in the mountains that was a few hours away from them, her mom being invited by a family friend to join them.
The girl walked down the stairs, seeing the black van and walking towards them with an excited smile. It's been a while since they've been out of the city.
She joined her mom who was talking with a friend, laughing about something when she suddenly felt as if something was wrong. She gazed at them both in confusion, trying to stop a grimace as her mom seemed to have noticed what was happening with her.
She thought it was anxiety for whatever that was about to happen, and she wanted for it to stop, thinking repeatedly for the feeling to cease because it was odd, only for her to then feel as if she was being pulled inside out.
Suddenly, she felt as if she was falling. And then, she hit the ground, hard. Looked up and saw a bunch of strangers. Kinda.
She suddenly bolted out of her reverie as she remembered she asked Five about being brought back but no reply came from him. Maybe she'll just ask him again tomorrow.
**
[Name] opened her eyes, confusion written in her expression as she gazed at her surroundings, momentarily forgetting where she was. Once she remembered, she couldn't help but groan in frustration as she stood up, thinking it was all just a dream.
She completely forgot she had her small backpack with her until she saw it laying on the table. Grace must have seen it and brought it to her room, she thought as she walked to it and checked. Her phone was still there with 76% left on its battery, her sighing in thanks to herself for having the forethought of bringing her charger, but then in distress as she again remembered that maybe electrical sockets doesn't exist here yet.
After [Name] finished showering, wearing a white midi frilly skirt that was apparently from Vanya and a long sleeved black shirt paired with what she would only assume was the vest in their old uniform, and went down to the kitchen.
She found Grace cooking there with Klaus seemingly ready to give up on life. Probably had no more drugs left then, she mused as she nodded at the both of them in greeting, sitting down next to Klaus.

"So you know the future, right?" Klaus asked, frowning then looking over his shoulder muttering, "Yeah I know, shut up."
"Uhm, yes?"
"So do you know something about an ornate box with pearl inlay?" He tentatively asked with a smile that seemed almost like a grimace.
She frowned at him in confusion first before she remembered what it was about. "Oh my God! You still threw it away?" She whisper-yelled, causing Klaus to cover her mouth with a hand and shush her.
"Yes, yes, so now where is it?"
She bit her lip in distress as she realized the fuse for the apocalypse would apparently still happen.
"Oh no, it's not where you left it anymore, Klaus. Pogo already told you off, didn't he?" She sighed in exasperation. As much as she loved Klaus, that part of what he did really wasn't one of his brightest ideas.
He avoided eye contact but answered, "Yes.." tentatively.
"We're gonna need to find it before shit hits the fan. I just hope Vanya's still here," she murmured worriedly.
After eating their breakfast and trying to figure out where to find the box without the girl trying to give too much away, a frustrated Five came waltzing in.
"Klaus!" He called, "I need you to do something for me."
"It's not gonna work," she answered, already knowing this lead isn't going anywhere.
"What do you mean?" He asked, facing her with confusion.
"I told you it's his but also not," she said with a huff.
"Well do I look like I know what you mean?" He said in irritation, turning back to Klaus. "Wear your nicest outfit, we're going somewhere."
"It's not going anywhere," she again told them as both started walking hurriedly towards Klaus' room.
"Then don't be vague and tell me or else shut up," he snapped, [Name] flinching at the anger in his voice as she averted her eyes from him but still followed.
"Can I come?" She asked softly once they're in front of Klaus' room, Klaus looking through his wardrobe.
"No."
"Sure [Name]! The more the merrier!" Klaus said jovially, momentarily stopping his activity as he walked to the both of them still by the door, embracing the girl and lifting her up, swinging her before gently putting her down.
She smiled excitedly, looking at Five for confirmation who only scowled but didn't say anything.
The both of them waited on the corridor while Klaus was changing, [Name] observing the place, noticing the old panels and stepping on creaky floorboards repeatedly to keep herself entertained.
"Will you stop that," Five said in irritation, his arms crossed as he glared at her. [Name] couldn't help but frown and walked towards him, lifting her hand once she was in front of him and massaging the space between his eyebrows.
"You should stop doing that, you're at a young body, I don't think you would want to have wrinkles this early. Except smile wrinkles, those are nice," she said, smiling up at him and not realizing he had tensed up at the sudden contact.

She stepped backwards with a smile, pointing at her smile lines and saying, "These wrinkles should be what you have."
He was still frozen when the door opened, revealing Klaus in a frilly shirt. Five made him change outfits, talking about raiding the old man's closet.
".. What's our cover story?" Asked Klaus.
"What? What are you talking about?"
"I mean, was I really young when I had you? Like, 16? Like, young and.." Klaus trailed off, clearly in thought as [Name] looked in amusement, not remembering about this conversation. ".. terribly misguided?"
"Sure," Five answered, but it was clear with his expression that he's confused.
"Your mother, that slut! Whoever she was. We met at.. the disco." Then he chuckled, "Okay? Remember that."
He then snapped his fingers, "Oh my God, the sex was--"
"Okay-okay, we don't need to hear about this." Cut off [Name], face already red in embarrassment.
"What a disturbing glimpse into that thing you call a brain," said Five with a perturbed expression.
"Don't make me put you in time-out!" Klaus joked, "But what about you [Name]? What's your cover story?"
"I dunno, maybe I can be a friend or a sister," she shrugged.
"No, you can't be a sister, we don't even look alike." Five retorted.
"I mean we can be, like, half-siblings. "Dad" here getting girls left and right," [Name] simply explained.
"No, just--look," he said as he stopped walking and turned towards them, causing her to stumble trying to keep herself from falling over him while Klaus bumped into her. "We don't need this whole thing, just go in there and ask for information. Then you'll tell me where I can find the owner of this." He said, directing the last statement to the girl who again averted her gaze, causing Five to narrow his eyes suspiciously at her.
**
The doctor again proceeds to explain to the siblings that he can't share private information such as that. The girl only at the corner as she watched the whole exchange begin to unfold.
".. I didn't touch your son." Lance answered in confusion, her grimacing knowing how wrong it sounded.
"Oh, really? Well, then how did he get that swollen lip?"
"He doesn't have a swollen.." but the man trailed off as Klaus proceeded to punch Five square in the face, not even an ounce of regret or apology as he looked back at Lance once again.
"Are you okay?" [Name] asked worriedly, stepping towards Five as she gazed up with a wince at his bloodied lip.
"I'm fine," he simply answered as he wiped the blood off with his hand.
A glass shattering was heard causing both of them to look up again, seeing Klaus groan in pain as he just took on that glass ball like it was nothing and continued to talk to the man.
".. You're gonna do great in prison, Grant.
Trust me, I've been there. Little piece of chicken like you. Oh, my God, you're gonna get passed around like a.." Klaus claimed suggestively, looking at the doctor up and down as he swayed his hips. "You're just.. You're gonna do great. That's all I'm saying."
"Jesus, you are a real sick bastard."
"Thank you," he answered pleasantly, spitting out a glass shard as they were led to another room.
"Are you sure you're okay, Klaus?" [Name] asked, anxious with all the blood trailing off of his head.
"I'm fine, don't worry your pretty face, [Name]. I've been through worse before."
The doctor then told them while holding a file that the eye apparently hadn't been purchased yet.
"What? What do you mean?"
"Well, uh, our logs say that the eye with that serial number.. This can't be right. It hasn't even been manufactured yet. Where did you get that eye?" Lance asked in disbelief, but before anyone could answer, Five deciding to leave.
Klaus soon followed as [Name] smiled apologetically at Lance, jogging after the two of them as they entered the elevator.
"Why didn't you just tell me this goes nowhere?" Five asked, clearly pissed, as soon as the elevator doors closed.
"I mean.. I tried," she tried to reason. "I just wasn't sure if this should still happen or not. Even the events after this! You know how the butterfly effect works, right? Even the smallest of changes can spiral into something huge that we might not be able to control."
Five scoffed upon hearing this, but didn't reply as the doors opened and they exited the building.
"Can I get my 20 bucks now?" Klaus asked, Five sitting down at the stairs in thought.
"Your 20 bucks?" Five asked incredulously.
"Yeah, my 20 bucks."
"The apocalypse is coming, and all you can think about is getting high?" Five snapped.
"Well, I'm also quite hungry. Tummy's a-rumblin','' Klaus answered, imitating a growl.
"You're useless! You're all useless!"
"Hey!" [Name] said in offense.
And then Klaus talked about Five being "horny as hell", the girl pretending she wasn't listening.
".. Her name was Delores. We were together for over 10 years," there was a clear warmth coming from his voice, and [Name] couldn't help but smile and be proud that at the very least he still has emotions, even if it's to an inanimate object. All hope is still not lost on teaching Five to be able to show his affections toward his siblings without using his snarky tone and insults.
But then, he teleported away, leaving the two of them alone as Klaus tried to ask for his money. "Cheapskate," he uttered with a pout.
"He isn't wrong anyway. You are gonna use that for drugs," Ben commented, Klaus glaring at him and saying, "Shut up," surprising the girl.
"Oh, is Ben here? I guess I should remember he can't really leave you," [Name] said with a smile. "Hello Ben."
"Trust me, sometimes I wish he would leave me alone," Klaus mumbled with a glare, but the three of them knew he didn't mean it.
"Now c'mon, let's go home and get something to eat. I actually am starving."
