dear journal,

i just hate people. why do they have to be so mean? at school today, i found yeonjun being beat up by a couple of guys on the basketball team. when i rounded the corner they ran off. fucking pricks.

yeonjun was crying. i'd never seen him do that before. cry, i mean. his nose was bleeding, and a bruise was forming under his right eye. i grabbed his hand and helped him up. we walked to the bathroom together.

he wouldn't stop crying. i cleaned up his face with a wet paper towel and tried to calm him down. he pushed my hands away. it stung me.

but, after a few tries, he curled up against me. he made me feel like i was the only person in the world who could have comforted him in that moment. maybe i was. we sat on the bathroom floor together for a long while. i didn't mind the bell. i waited until he was okay.

if i ever see those guys again, i swear...
