《StrayKids | Boxer》4|Offers Declined

It had felt as though you had been trapped in that room for weeks, your only ways of human interaction were with a small freckled boy when he gave you some food, yet he never spoke to you.
Over time you became quite bored, becoming restless from having nothing to do, wishing that you could leave the room.
Your wishes seemed to be granted in a matter of seconds when the door opened revealing the freckled boy standing there.
"Bangchan told me to come and get you since he has something to talk to you about."
You were slightly hesitant to agree to go without a little bit of a fight, but you decided against it, not wanting to ruin your possibility of leaving.
Stepping forward he held your arm making sure that you wouldn't be able to run.
Each step down to the main living area your heartbeat increased. To say you were scared to meet the leader of the most dangerous gang who knew you had planned to kill him was a slight understatement.
Rounding a corner you could hear a few quiet voices chatting. You kept walking and eventually came at a standstill in front of 4 dangerous looking men.
You noted the number and the absence of 3, two of which being the ones you had ran into outside, and counting the boy beside you.
Looking at all of their faces and expressions towards you, your eyes caught onto a familiar face belonging to Chris. He quickly waved them off as he was wanting the conversation only between you two.
Your eyes never left his, your brain was unwilling to believe that you had versed a notorious gang leader known for how deadly he was, yet it never twigged in your mind of who he was.
The one thing that you did recall from the past communications and encounters with him was that although he was unpredictable on who he would chose fit to kill and his level of violence, he had a sweet-spot for innocent people who he didn't want to die.
After a few minutes of quiet staring, he decided to clear his throat and speak up.

"Nice to see you again Y/N, just a bit better that we're now not in the ring ."
"How did you know I was outside and what I was planning to do?"
"Well hello to you too."
"Just answer it." You cut him off losing your patience.
It seemed as though he enjoyed seeing you in a slightly annoyed way. Slowly readjusting himself on his seat he turned back to you.
"You know Y/N, you probably shouldn't have your messages show up on your lock screen for everyone to see, especially if it's from 'Big Boss'."
"Shit." You cursed under your breath, but he heard it.
"Yeah, thank you for the prior warning though, it helped us out a lot."
Putting the pieces together you realised that he was there when your phone had gone off in the hospital room. Becoming more enraged with him looking through your personal details you snapped.
"What gave you permission to look through my phone, that is private information."
"I didn't go through your phone, I simply just read the only notification that I heard, I checked incase it was someone who was worried about you. Even still though, I should technically have a right to see and know when someone is trying to kill me, am I right?"
He could clearly see your anger building up by the second. The slight smirk that creeped its way onto his face made you jump forward to attack but the second you did you regretted it.
As quick as you jumped, he was just as quick to stand up and catch your fist squeezing it with graduating pressure all the while, many other members stepped into the room for any assistance if need be.
Soon your hand began aching and you tried to pull away, your action though, having no consequences on him so you decided to hang your head to him indicating your giving up.
"Enough about that topic," he spoke calmly, releasing your hand, "the reason why I called you down here was because I have a proposition for you."
The moment his words left his mouth you have a small snort of sarcastic disbelief. With you not saying anything more he decided to continue talking.

"I know your abilities in the ring, and obviously apart from my cameras, your stealthiness and amazing ability of fighting." You kept your head high as you heard all of his words but were still skeptical of what his motives were.
"With the factor of you quitting your job, I am offering you a position in our gang, you have everything you need to be able to defend yourself, but with added practise you could be even more."
In absolute disgust of his offer, you frowned at him and built up the courage to spit on him.
"You think that I would want to join your gang. Known to be the most gruesome and deadliest. No I don't think so."
You stepped towards him to attack him but with a quick hand movement from him, you were pulled away by the freckled boy.
"Felix, take her back to her room and cut down her meal. She should know what she deserves, especially from the 'most gruesome gang'. He snickered after quoting my words.
~
It had been almost two weeks since your little encounter with Bangchan. Since then, your meal was drastically reduced and each day you kept getting skinnier, it was now at the point that you were almost skeletal.
Upon seeing you like this the freckled boy who you had heard to be named Felix spoke up and voiced his opinion on it.
"You can't live like this, if we keep you like this for much longer you'll die, I have to speak to Bangchan about it."
He was quick to leave, coming back shortly, slightly puffed.
"He was open to discussing your situation with you if you stay respectful and don't try to attack him."
"I guess that seems better than starving to death."
"Good, you'll need it."
With barely any energy left to hold yourself up Felix came to your side slinging your arm around his shoulder to help you walk.
As you got down the stairs, this time you walked a different way. You walked into a slightly more formal room this time, the same people from before all sitting on the couches with the 3 that were absent still not being there.
After seeing your state, his eyes for a split second showed sadness but were masked again and he motioned for you to sit.
Once you had placed yourself in a chair he began.
"So Y/N, I'm offering you the same deal, I've let you think about it for a while."
You weren't fully sure of how well each option turned out, so you let him continue.
"Take into consideration that you only have two choices, the first is to join my gang, in which you will be put through hard work, the second is to live in that room for the rest of your life. But don't forget, staying in only that room is not it, you will get the same treatment as you have had these past weeks and clearly shown from your figure, you don't accomodate to it well."
You knew what he said was true, your better option was to join the gang, both of you knew that you had to chose it or else you might die a slow death.
"Why not just kill me now, I'm better off dead than taking up a room in your house."
"That is no concern of mine, and plus where's the fun in that." He laughed showing his malicious intentions.
"What does being in your gang fully mean, what does it involve?"
"You will be one of my assassins, you will kill the people that I tell you to and sometimes be used in different ways to favour me."
"You are a sick fuck you know that right." you snapped at him.
"I was meaning that you would be used as bait in trading deals or in getting information for me, don't flatter yourself too much. It will be hard work and you will have to undergo very difficult and torturous training, but I would say it is better than starving to death."
He gave you almost no ways to decline as it was a choice of living or slowly dying.
"You're a sadistic prick, I can't believe it, but I guess I'll have to accept the offer."
"Good, I knew you wouldn't be able to say no for too long." He brushed off your insult and decided to not make anything of it.
"We'll start your training tomorrow."

The Tower Trials
"The Towers have stood for centuries. They offer riches and power in equal measure to those that are brave, strong, and lucky enough to overcome their Trials. Isaac has arrived in time for the annual Novice Trial where young men and women aged 16 through 18 are set to enter the Tower for their first time. Novice Trials are a rite of passage, and though one is not required to take it, one cannot develop their Mana System without it. However, the trials are deadly, and there are always some that go in, but never come out. Regardless of the danger, Novice Trials are required for entry into any of the four grand academies. Those that survive the trials are able to gain experience and level-up as they ascend the different floors of the Towers." The Tower Trials is my first attempt at writing. Reviews and constructive criticism are highly encouraged and appreciated!

NOVA INTERIT.US
It's 2063, and the town along with much of the nation are in disarray. The decay started years before the Great Event. Our town still had hope thanks to the five families, who'd created a blockchain based water distribution system for the locals, a valuable secret hidden from the Global Water Commission and their network of mercenaries. Earlier in the mid-2040's, right after the state secessions of Idaho, Montana, and Texas, the Global Council of Water Commissioners made their deals and moved into towns throughout the country. They called it "the integration." The Commission and their contractors integrated with municipal water departments, using their organized network to invade like parasites on local services. It all coincided with the 29th Amendment to the United States Constitution, later referred to as the Regional Trident Plan. Nova is a story about survival, power structures, the turning of relationships, and the networking between people and the systems to which they belong. It’s about A.I. blockchain possibility, and its potential for human betterment versus our detriment. It’s about the question of whether or not we need to be saved from ourselves, and by who or what? The Great Event at the end of the first chapter might just be what actually saves us. The epilogue will take place in 2517. This scene is fully sketched and the full arc of the novel is set. I expect to finish Nova Interitus by summer of 2023. This is realist hard-sci-fi dystopian fiction. I hope you find Nova to be a challenging and consuming story. This is not something I planned to write. It all came to me in a dream and I haven't been able to stop writing it. This Royal Road posting is basically a beta test with chapters and drafts to get some feedback and see if there's any readership for this narrative. For the full experience read Nova on Substack. I will be narrating a podcast version later this year there. https://novainteritus.substack.com/
